*Official 2019 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* - Season's over; Go Away Now... (2 Viewers)

We have to pick up another  qb
They'll give Kessler the chance to earn the backup spot and then grab whoever has experience that got cut at the end of preseason for the 3rd. Might also grab a body to get through preseason.

And the inevitable story that comes up every year when a QB goes down (backup or starter)... "CK is available." Media can't help themselves.

From everything I heard he's done with the NFL. He took himself out of the NFLPA and Smith the President plus many of the player reps won't allow him back in after he threw them under the bus during the lawsuit. Many players who defended CK also stopped when he threw Malcom Jenkins under the bus. I won't write a page and a half why CK is such a bad idea but I'll just say from the people I talked to he doesn't even believe half the stuff he preaches. He was just looking to stay in the spotlight a little longer and if that didn't work at least he knew he'd get a quick pay day out of it. Its clowns like him in race and mental health who try and cheat the system that gives a bad name to everyone else who's really big on the issues. When the spotlight went away and onto the players coalition he throw a temper tantrum took his ball and his little butt buddy Eric Reid with him and left. Then his buddy tried to take liberties on our Franchise QB last year. There's so many reasons why CK on this team is such a terrible idea or makes little sense. Either way I heard the XFL is starting up again and looking for Players and he can sign with the CFL at Anytime.

Do you think it's a given that Thorson doesn't make the team?

Schefter reporting Suddy will only miss 6 weeks. That means at minimum 2 games this year max maybe 3 if they want to be precautionary especially if Kessler performs better the next 3 games.

Given last night I say he gets cut but they probably won't be worried about him going elsewhere if they want to stash him on the Practice squad. I could see if they feel no need for Thorson they go after another guy for the PS. I was talking to my Co workers son after the Open Practice on Sunday and asked about Thorson a bit. It sounded more like the Eagles wanted Easton Stick and had not much interest in Thorson was one of the last QB's left they had any good feeling or scouting on. I asked about McSorley and he said the staff felt like McSorely isn't a QB at this level but liked him as a GJ Kinne type WR/RB if he made the team maybe find some stuff to get him the ball. Said the Eagles weren't the only team who didn't think he was a QB at this level was kind of surprised he got drafted. So it doesn't seem like they are married to Thorson from what I got.

I can't see how they justify him being on the roster unless he really turns it around. No one is grabbing him if he goes to the PS. Just put him there and go get one of the journeyman to hold the 3rd string spot until Sudfeld is back.

Ya he's been so disappointing. I didn't like the pick at the time. Seems like we panicked when the Chargers took our guy.

Wonder who is even out there at this point. Who are the top fa qb's right now?

If he's back by week 4 at latest I don't see the need to make any real moves. Kessler can carry the clipboard for a couple of weeks, and they can pick up anyone as an "in case of fire break glass" guy. If we're going to a third (fourth really) QB in week 2 we're f*^%&* anyway. Heck, let Thorson keep practicing until Nate is back and then cut him.

NON issue IMO

Man howie really has a d line fetish.  Trades for some other random de from buffalo.
although we have one of the best starting defensive lines in the league, or depth is questionable at best for edge rushers. Curry and Sweat should be solid, but one used to be better and one we hope is much better. We get a former 3rd round pick in Eli Harold who hasn't been able to put it together so far and isn't going to be relied upon early to carry anything. Smart move since odds are we were going to cut Bates after camp anyways.

And now we're seeing why getting Wentz's contract locked up early was so important. Dak and Goff gonna use Wentz's salary as a floor, rather then the other way around.

I know it sucks Sudfeld got hurt, but I thought he looked pretty good out there. Watching on PC muted, at first I thought it was Wentz honestly was wondering why they put him out there.

He will be back by week 3 or so.  I think he looked good too.  We could definitely  win a game or two if he had to start imo

I’ll be surprised if Jadeveon Clowney isn’t traded. They need an upgrade at LT to protect Deshaun Watson. LTs don’t grow on trees so I have no idea who it would be at this time of year.

Here's some in-depth analysis: The Philadelphia Eagles' first-round left tackle, Andre Dillard, is going to be really good.

All eyes were on #Eagles 1st-Round Pick Andre Dillard on Thursday night, and he did not disappoint. We knew about his great feet, but look at the hand usage on some of these clips. Great to see from the rookie. #FlyEaglesFly

It’s gonna be the Eagles isn’t it

The Eagles have just enough cap space to make this Clowney thing work and the deepest offensive tackle group in the NFL. I wouldn’t count out Howie. Never count out Howie…

LT: Jason Peters, Andre Dillard, Jordan Mailata

Hmmm. Clowney would be awesome to have but Peters is immeasurable on the intangibles of leadership on the Team. He is the unquestionable veteran leader of the whole team. It would disrupt the dynamic greatly if he was moved.

If Howie could move one of his other OL pieces, that would be an absolute Howie move. Jump over Houston to steal their pick then trade them our backups for their cap casualty, stud pass rusher.

that would be great but i would have no issues if they trade peters away

On face value, it would be a huge win. I just worry about upsetting team chemistry with a move like that. I never worry about team chemistry but Peters is a unique case. He's the elder statesmen on the team and whatever he says goes for the guys.

The fight the other day for example could have lingered if not for Peters. He went to Barnett and "asked" him to make up with Dillard. Barnett didn't hesitate because when Peters asks you to do something, it's not a request. Hard to measure that value.

well peters is done after this season so we will have to deal with him being gone soon anyways,  might as well get a pro bowl caliber player for him.

Living in Houston, I get to watch a lot of the Texans games. I am not as enamored with Clowney as a lot of Texans fans. He is also going to want a top salary for defensive end after this season. So I would trade him for a back-up tackle, but I probably wouldn't want to trade Peters for him. I just think the way to stay good in the NFL these days is not to have players whose salary requirements exceed their value to the team. I think Clowney is one of those type players. You will never get the value from him that matches how much you have to pay him.

I think it’s Vaitai who gets traded if this deal does go down

What? Peters isn't getting traded. 0.00001% chance of that.  Dillard gonna take over next year, but come on. He's an Eagle through and through, they aren't gonna ship him off for his final season.

they're not trading Peters.
Right, but even more importantly, Houston wouldn't want/take Peters if a Clowney trade were even realistic. The combo of his age, injury history, and salary make it a non-starter, even with the mess of a (no) GM situation Houston has going on right now.

Seeing a lot of "Trade Vaitai + (good draft pick) for Clowney."

Eagles won't include Vaitai in a trade like he's some throw-in. 1st guy off bench at RG/RT on SB contender, & currently the starting RG.

He'll also likely get paid next yr, so he could count for a decent comp pick

Personally, I would value Vaitai as something close to a 3rd round pick for the Eagles, as in, I wouldn’t trade him for anything less than that.

...and he isn’t going to be worth that to other teams.

Would like to see some nice games from Mailata, Pryor, Big V, Barnett, Sweat and the DB’s. I’d also like to see Sanders break one.

What are you guys focusing on?
