*Official 2019 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* - Season's over; Go Away Now... (2 Viewers)

I think I'd actually be worried with this many guys out and Manning and Barkley looking fully healed. This is no gimme against the Giants, and it's weird to have it passed off in the media as just so.

I dunno. I have no real skin in the game on this board as far as team allegiance goes (I naturally tend to root for the NYG growing up as a fan of OAK, NYJ, and NYG), but it just seems like people are overlooking it a bit.

Maybe I missed it because it was such a much-win game for the Eagles that the talk of that was muted.

I’m not overlooking this at all man. This is exactly the game that makes me want to sh\t my pants. They get up to beat Dallas and then go to meadowlands and lay another egg. Hopefully they stay focused. I’ll also wager right now that this game will go over. I see a lot of points,.

Sure thing. I know I'd be worried about any team, any Sunday. Let me correct myself a bit in insinuation: I wasn't talking about this thread, really, or the people that comment in it. People here seem really on top of stuff, like most of the team threads around here. I was thinking on a national level with the talking heads of football and their pre- and post-game Sunday shows. They were making it seem like the winner...was the winner.

Speaking of tonight’s game, I actually have a kicker-related WDIS question. In this league I carry 2 kickers on my roster in the playoffs because there’s not much flexibility with pickups in the playoffs. Those happen to be Bailey and Crosby. I am down 9 points and need to pick one. Scoring system rewards longer FGs - 5 points for a 50-yarder, 6 points for a 60-yarder, etc. Which one is most likely to reach 9 points?

My league had Bailey at 115-83 (standard scoring) over Crosby for the year. I have no idea what that means for predictive accuracy. I pick the kicker who will likely have more chances to swing his leg and go at it. Bailey has scored nine points five times, Crosby four. It looks like Crosby is trending downwards in points per week.

Odd you're worried about a kicker now. Would have figured you'd have sewn that up. But to each...

Remember when Dallas Goedert was a wasted luxury pick? Those two TE sets have been useful all year with all the WR injuries.

You’re not missing it.  Every longtime Eagles fan knows it would be such an Eagles thing to do to win against Dallas then #### the bed in the meadowlands against a four win Giants team.  No one wants to speak it.  It’s like Candyman.

Yeah, see upthread. The diehards will get it; my beef, not well-outlined, was with the national sports media, mainly.

what happens if dallas and phili lose this weekend?  do eagles still win division?  that would be a funny way for this season to end

If Dallas loses Eagles win the division regardless of what happens in the Giants game.

Chris Carson out for the year.  Everyone keeps saying the Seahawks/Niners are going to destroy the Eagles in the first round but I just don't see it.  The Seahawks are pretty much all Russell Wilson at this point (and he's absolutely amazing but still just one guy).  The Niners have also had some significant injuries on defense and they haven't been dominant at all since those injuries.  I assume the Eagles would be underdogs against either team but I'll be betting hard on the money line for sure.

Of course this assumes the Eagles win next week.
in same boat here. Same with if the Vikings are the one's who have to come to Philly again.

nope, you are totally right here. Eagles play differently home and away as well. beating the Giants isn't any kind of a lock

Carson Wentz is the first QB in @NFL history to record 30+ completions and 0 INTs in 3 consecutive games.

Wentz joins the following as the only @NFL QBs with 30+ completions in 3 straight games:

Matt Ryan (2019)
Kirk Cousins (2018)
Philip Rivers (2015)
Peyton Manning (2010, ‘15)
Drew Brees (2011, 2013 twice)
Tom Brady (2011)
Kurt Warner (2008)
Rich Gannon (2002)
Steve Young (1995)

Should we be cheering for GB tonight?  (If Minny wins, there's a good chance they will travel to Philly/Dallas in round 1.  If they lose, it will be SF/Sea traveling to Philly/Dallas Round 1)

Minnesota can't win a tiebreaker against SF or Sea for the 5th seed. At least I'm pretty sure.

We can't play Minnesota. It's either SF or Sea.
I think I'd least like to play Minny out of all these teams.  It would be their ultimate revenge on us by coming into Philly and knocking us out.

Seattle has lost Carson and looks depleted.  I think we'd have a shot against them.  SF would be playing back to back road games and it would be a crazy long trek out east.

Did you win?  Hopefully you had Golladay in there.
Played Kupp and Sutton. Wish I would have payed Golloday. Biggest mistake was taking Jarrod Cook out right before kickoff and putting Bell in my flex. Had the right idea: Bell got 29 touches and cook had 3 but two went for TDs. Oh well. I still have a shot as I’m down two points with Boone left versus Rodgers. It’s a chance at least...

If I have my pick, give me Seattle.  There’s talk that Marshawn might be suiting up for them.  I want nothing to do with Minnys wrs.

I would agree that Minny seems to be the toughest of the 3.

Eagles seem to be trending in the right direction.  Although it is the same team that needed heroics from Wentz to pull past the Giants and Redskins so anything is possible.  But the Giants are still a very bad team and Barkley alone can’t compensate for the overall difference in talent and coaching between the 2 teams (even with the injuries).  Manning stinks - I would want him in the game if I were an Eagles fan.

Drunk eagles fan sneaks into Pederson's presser...asks about Eli.   Pederson calls a timeout.

The fan, who lasted a full two minutes of questions from the media without being thrown out, found the (liquid) courage to ask Pederson a question, too.

“Doug, meeting Eli next weekend, what do you think?" he asked.

“Who is this?” the Eagles coach asked. “Is he with the media? Is he credentialed?”

That’s when Pederson (literally) called “timeout” on the press conference as the Eagles’ head of security Dom Disandro removed the drunk fan and his friends from the press conference.
best part was that he interrupted eskin.  i very rarely watch these pressers, but was glad i saw this one.

If we somehow win our first round playoff game, Desean is back for the next game apparently.  Crazy to think he could have had this surgery earlier and been good to go right now.

So, if we take care of business against the Giants next week, we most likely will be playing Seattle or San Francisco in the first round of the playoffs. I think we can definitely beat Seattle and I’m still not convinced on San Francisco. For arguments sake, assume for a second that we actually can pull a win out in week one of the playoffs we’d have the team as currently comprised plus Lane back, plus Jordan back, plus Desean back for the remainder of the playoffs.

I know that I am looking out pretty far, but I said many pages back that I had faith that Doug would right m the ship. And he has! I’m excited, and I can’t believe we are in the situation that we are in.

I just said they're not always right... rankings are not perfect but they're usually right more than they're wrong.

Don't get the "Blough sucks" argument.  Golladay is averaging 17 PPG with Blough at QB.

Don't be a homer with fantasy money on the line.  Golladay is the play.
It was very close on all 3 (Ward, Gallup)but you were correct on Golladay having the most points. Nice call 👍🏼

Did you tell them how wrong you’ve been about Sanders? It rivals me and predicting the team this year :lmao:
It's his rookie year anything can happen. Thats the problem with sports fans and analysis. Yes he looks good but how many guys have looked great only to die off after a few yrs or something. I Never said he shouldn't be in the NFL. I just don't think he's a 3 down player and the Eagles could really use a power back to go along with him and Boston Scott. Maybe if you want to keep a 4th you keep Clement who's serviceable has some returning experience, special teams and can fill in. A lesser role could save him from injury.

I agree that Seattle is beatable but I think you're downplaying how great of a QB Wilson is.  He's a top 5 (maybe top 3) QB easily.
I've felt that fans and experts alike have overrated the guy big time through his career. Early in his career I said without that defense and Lynch Wilson is nothing special. He's adapted but he still has that stigma of his WRs getting better with far lesser QBs then when they are with him. For yrs I've said I don't think it's totally his fault (Could be position coach, playbook, scheme etc) but thats a pretty big factor for me and something I think needs to be taken into consideration. I also think the SB win he was given far too much credit. That game was well out of reach thats to a few huge Defensive TDs and Return Kick off for a TD. By the time Willson threw his first TD of that SB it was the 3rd QTR with the game well out of reach with the TD.

All of this isn't to say he isn't good. Just more so I think he gets far too much credit over the years then he's really deserved. My point of my post though was more or less about the SEA offense isn't as great as people think and they lost Rashad Penny a week ago with Knee surgery and just lost Carson for the year with hip surgery that will servely limit their read option stuff. I think SEA is in a lot more trouble then people think. They just lost to the Cardinals and lost both their best Backs. Outside of two big plays we had Sea beat if our offense showed even a bit of life that day. I think a WC match up at Home vs Sea should be welcomed not thought as gloom and doom by people

I'm Cheering GB no matter what. Plus I could never root for Minny
