This Ben Watson suspension and Saubert signing from ATL makes me think James White is even MORE of a draft target high end RB2 for 2019 ( PPR ) they're going to lean on him in a BIG way especially weeks 1-4 if not the whole season.His Gronk-less stats are pretty impressive ( games without Gronk in the lineup)

 
Bears waived rookie WR Emanuel Hall.

Hall simply couldn't get on the field due to injuries. That has been the story for Hall for much of his football career. He missed a lot of games at Missouri, often due to a hamstring injury, and he'll need to prove that he can stay healthy to crack an active roster. When healthy, Hall offers big-play potential as a deep threat with 99th-percentile SPARQ athleticism. Hall should receive second and third chances because of his talent.

Jimmy Garoppolo throws 5 consecutive INTs in practice

Jimmy Garoppolo enjoyed a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day at the office on Wednesday afternoon.

During one stretch of practice, the San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback threw five consecutive interceptions to Richard Sherman, Ahkello Witherspoon, Jaquiski Tartt and Tarvarius Moore (twice), per NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.

Jimmy G broke the spell with a touchdown pass to rookie Jalen Hurd, but the damage was done, acknowledged by the onlooking press and Garoppolo's head coach.

"He threw it to the wrong team five plays in a row," Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said bluntly. "I was a defensive coach today, so I was pumped. But no, the defense did great today and obviously he struggled.

"You hope to never have a day like that, but I don't think it's never not happened to anyone. When you do that, you hope you can practice long enough and give him a chance to play out of it and use it as an opportunity that hopefully you can do in a game. Hopefully you don't have five in the game, but you can play yourself out of two in a row or something like that."

Wednesday was San Francisco's last practice before traveling to Denver to take part in joint practices with the Broncos on Friday and Saturday. The 49ers will play Denver on Monday night, when Garoppolo is expected to make his preseason debut, his first on-field appearance since tearing his ACL in September.

Shanahan said he was unsure whether Garoppolo would play longer than one or two series, saying, "That depends on how the practices go this week."

If Jimmy G continues to throw to the wrong team (the Broncos) in the coming days, he might not be long for game action on Monday evening.

 
Bucs claimed rookie WR Emanuel Hall off waivers.

Hall didn't even make it through an entire preseason camp with the Bears, so Hall faces really long odds of materializing. But this player to scheme fit is very ideal. Hall, who has 99th-percentile SPARQ athleticism, is a Bruce Arians-type deep threat when healthy. That is the problem though. Hall hasn't been able to stay on the field and that goes back to his college days.

Kenyan Drake Likely Done For Preseason

Dolphins top running back Kenyan Drake is likely to miss the remainder of the team’s preseason slate, and his availability for Week 1 is in question as well, as Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald writes. Drake suffered a foot injury in Tuesday’s practice.

Of course, Miami is in the early stages of a complete rebuild, so losing Drake for any regular season action won’t exactly impact the club’s postseason chances. But Drake is eligible for free agency in 2020, so he doesn’t want his platform year to be marred by injury, and the Dolphins would like to see what the talented 25-year-old can do when given a full workload.

The Alabama product has averaged a terrific 4.7 yards per carry across 286 career totes in his three professional seasons, and he’s also been a significant contributor in the passing game. Advanced metrics are high on his ability, and he could earn a nice payday in 2020, either from the Dolphins or another RB-needy team.

Luckily, Drake’s injury does not seem to be overly serious. Head coach Brian Flores said, “[t]he opener is down the road. He’s got a little injury. He’s just going to take it day to day. He’s got a great attitude about it. I think he’ll be OK.”

In Drake’s absence, Kalen Ballage and Mark Walton will see more action. Miami also has several seventh-round rookies on the roster.

Panthers' camp observations as the Wofford College portion ends: 1. Coach Ron Rivera wouldn't name a camp MVP, so I will. Curtis Samuel. The third-year wide receiver caught a deep pass almost every practice, including Wednesday's joint session against Buffalo; 2. QB Cam Newton only talked to the media once in three weeks, but he had a solid camp on the field. Other than a few days off he had no limitations throwing and began developing solid chemistry with his receivers and line; Looks like he'll be ready for the opener; 3. First-round pick Brian Burns was held out of drills after suffering a minor ankle injury on Tuesday, but the Panthers escaped camp with no major injuries -- always a plus. 4. LB Luke Kuechly had a scare early in camp with what appeared to be a head injury, but he finished strong. He had a PBU early on Wednesday and tipped a pass later; 5. If this truly is the last time the Panthers hold training camp at Wofford College, where they have been for 25 years, the school and city of Spartanburg should be applauded for outstanding support.

Andrew Luck’s Week 1 Availability “Really In Question”

Colts head coach Frank Reich prefers to make a decision on his Week 1 starting quarterback following his club’s third preseason game, and it may not be Andrew Luck who’s under center. Unless Luck makes a “miraculous recovery,” backup Jacoby Brissett us likely to start for Indianapolis in its season opener, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL.com (Twitter link).

Additionally, Garafolo reports the Colts “finally” feel as though they have a handle on the exact nature of Luck’s injury. Rather than just a calf or just an ankle issue, it seems as though Luck is dealing with an ailment that’s been caused by “accumulation over time.” What exactly that means for his recovery is unclear, but Indianapolis is now confident it can help its star quarterback heal.

Luck originally underwent an MRI on his calf in March that revealed a strain, but began to experience ankle trouble in May. Another test Monday revealed Luck could be dealing with some sort of high-ankle issue, though it’s not evident if he’s been diagnosed with a dreaded high-ankle sprain. At the moment, it doesn’t appear Luck is experiencing any Achilles trouble.

Luck won’t play during the preseason, and his absence will give Brissett even more time to prepare for the regular season. Brissett, of course, was the Colts’ full-time starter in 2017 when Luck st out the year with a shoulder injury. In 15 starts, Brissett completed 58.8% of his passes for 3,098 yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Among the 29 quarterbacks with at least 300 attempts that season, Brissett finished 22nd in adjusted net yards per attempt.
