*Official 2020 Philadelphia Eagles Thread* Humanity will never recover from the most horrible event to happen in the last 100 years: Doug Pederson pla (3 Viewers)

Nah, you want to win. Winning the division means the young guys forced into action - Mailata, Fulgham, Sweat, Hightower, Wallace,  etc...  have played well enough to show progress. Having then get experience and succeeding, even if they lose in the first round, is more valuable then a few draft spots.

Yes.....queue the Herm Edwards....'you play to win the game'

Winning the NFCE this year would be analogous to going to a restaurant that has a monster "Macho Burrito" that weighs 8 lbs and has ghost peppers in it. If you eat the whole thing in an hour, you get a T-shirt and a hat, your meal is free, and they take your picture and put it on the Wall of Fame. So, you give it a shot because you're a big dude who can eat a lot and you like hot stuff.

You get through the first couple bites ok, but then the peppers start to melt your face and you're having trouble breathing. Halfway through eating your belly starts to grumble, and you feel like you're going to puke. Luckily, you hold it in. Unfortunately, that creates a vacuum lock of pressure build up the other way and you release a gargantuan wave of lava in your shorts. Everyone crowded around, watching you and laughing, starts scrambling away, retching because the smell is so horrible. The smell is, in fact so horrible that you can no longer hold back the projectile magma that has been roiling in your gut like the earth's core. The restaurant staff snap your picture just as you start to "smother and cover" the Macho Burrito.

With everyone dying of laughter, the restaurant staff gives you a t-shirt that says "I'm not macho enough for the Macho" so you can wrap it around your waist and cover your shame. You puke picture goes on the Wall of Fame, front and center, with a caption reading "I sharted 15 minutes into eating the Macho."

So, yeah, you got your picture on the Wall of Fame. But was it worth it? That's what winning the NFCE will be like this season.
Finally a really long post worth reading.  @DJackson10, take notes.

Plus as the draft has shown time and time again, you can get good players at any pick. You can also screw up a pick from any spot. So being higher in the draft doesn't mean a better player automatically. Getting experience for the players here is much more valuable.

Agreed. Here are the Ravens last 10 1st rounds:

2011 #27 Jimmy Smith. Pro Bowl caliber back in his prime. Still on the team as a valuable CB/S hybrid.

2012 No Pick. Traded back.

2013 #32 Matt Elam. Flat out bust

2014 #17 CJ Mosely. Pro Bowler who got rich from the Jets.

2015 #26 Breshard Perriman. Flat out bust.

2016 #6 Ronnie Stanley. All Pro.

2017 #16 Marlon Humphrey. All Pro.

2018 #25 Hayden Hurst. Never quite panned out. Baltimore got a 2nd in last year's draft for him and drafted JK Dobbins with the pick.

2018 #32 Lamar Jackson. All Pro and reigning MVP

2019 #25 Hollywood Brown. He's been good and should get better.

2020 #28 Patrick Queen. Jury's still out, but his last two games have been really good.

That's 5 PBers for the team out of 10 players.

If Smith could have stayed healthy in his best years, he'd have made it 6.

2 have been busts.

1 was  traded for a RB who could be a future PBer.

The last 2 are still very young - but already good - and I expect at least Queen to be a PBer before all's said & done.

Average draft position on those 10 picks: 23.5

Are we done w Wentz yet? I am. Honestly he went from possibly best ever to should be jobless. The weapons don't seem to be the issue.

The Eagles got miraculously better over the course of the 2018 and 2019 seasons. I want to see if they can do it again before throwing in the towel on the season and/or Wentz.

Quite a few of us think the issue is coaching as much as it is Wentz. He hasn't had a good QB coach or OC since the Super Bowl year.

This. Just hit the picks you’re given and develop some of these young guys. The experiance for everyone will be good to have even if they lose the first game.

Gotta generate the clicks and discussion. It’s one of the main things I hate the older I get. Many of these guys don’t believe half the stuff they write but have to because it “sells”.

THis is why I always hated the just lose out or tanking crowd. Your guys if they can do it can incredible much needed experience and it shows they have progressed and what a better way to evaluate these guys then that?

I hated the pick but I've also said if you are gonna use him like you said you were why isn't he in there more then you had him? He's a good athlete just don't think he's NFL QB material

Lmao the Fan.
That's still better content then we get on our Sports Talk shows. Heck the Fan spent an hour or so in 2017 discussing the issues of Team USA soccer and had an expert on. My former co worker whenever he'd go to NYC the minute in his car he could get the signal for WFAN he'd put that on.

I think I realized when we had DH with his insider info for all those yrs 98% of the stuff is just crap thrown up on a wall hoping it sticks. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY IN JOURNALISM ANYMORE so if they are wrong so what just move on. It's about getting clicks and reporting news first. Not who can get the most clicks with the right info anymore. Honestly I don't believe anything anymore unless it comes from Adam Scheftar or RapSheet nationally and locally Mort, Johnny Airport Clark, Rueben or Kapadia, McManus or Berman. Selski is also good for the balance non hot take lets look at this rationally approach too. Overall only a few of these "insiders" really have any inside sources. Same way with other sports and everything else.

EDP being one of the other prominent fans in this is more annoying to me.
Good god I hate that guy. On my old board he was loved for some reason. I really went after him after he went over the top out of line and said "I hope Chip Kelly's house burns down with him inside." If he said that on Youtube today he'd be done. I hate Chip but thats crossing the line

So you're saying NYC sports radio has become almost as bad as Philly sports radio.
No, still a very safe margin. :(
(Though I did generally prefer 98.7 ESPN to WFAN when I lived up there)

Too many of the Philly hosts I've heard sound like they won a fan contest to host for the day. It's also very parochial. NY covers a lot more non-local stories and has national guests on.

For the 100th time, we don’t care about your internet and real-life arguments.

The final injury report is out:

Playing: Maddox, Riley, Epps, DeSean Jackson (like 4-5 snaps) & Lane Johnson

Ruled out: Driscoll, Ertz, Malik Jackson, Jeffery, Sanders, K’Von Wallace

Calling all Prince Tega Wanogho stans! I think he gets one of the PS call-ups and they use the designated extra OL active roster spot this week for him. And with the way things are going, he'll be playing by the 2nd quarter.

So the topic when I tuned in to WFAN (NY) this morning was the possibility of Pederson being let go and becoming the leading candidate to replace Adam Gase.
Not sure it seems THAT crazy.  I don't think we let Pederson go this year though... but if we did I COULD see the Jets going after him.

Jamon Brown released :bye:

Jason "All he does is catch touchdowns" Cromm brought back up to the active roster.

Like 4-5 snaps officially confirmed, or your best guess given how things tend to go with him?
It was tongue in cheek, sorry.

I hope so. Let the kid play some and let’s see what he has!!

A solution the Eagles should investigate following Thursday’s game is Quinton Spain, who was surprisingly released by the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday.

Spain, 29, started every game last year and did not allow a sack. He signed a three-year contract extension this past offseason and started with the Bills for the first two weeks of the season before being benched.

He has had some knee issues this season but is believed to be ready to play. Spain had started 58 straight games with the Titans and Bills.

dont even wanna imagine the locker room nightmare that would create. i'd imagine Wentz has enough people in his ears telling him he's not doing it right.

The real difference between Philadelphia and Dallas

Look at how these two franchises are responding to their poor starts.

In Dallas, anonymous players are already blasting the coaching staff after six weeks. It’s already falling apart, and Mike McCarthy has coached six games.
I could've predicted that. Like I said I don't know how Aaron Rodgers won a SB in spite of this guy. Put Rodgers on NE and they probably have 8 SBs. The Playcalling got so bad the final yrs to where Rodgers would intentionally ignore the call coming in and call the plays himself. I've said for yrs if Rodgers had a competent HC and a GM that didn't pinch his purse strings in FA he'd have numerous SBs already. Rodgers wasted his prime yrs under that clown

I wonder if the whole he sucks got him fired or the play that he adjusted his gloves mid play while Carson is running for his life got him shipped out? Then after the game he's taking picks with Lamar all smiles like he didn't have the worst game of an Eagles Offensive Lineman since the Monday Night Massacre Winston Justice vs the Giants
