I don't think he's meant to be Taysum Hill. Which is why I don't understand why they do t have him throw passes while he's in there. Again horrible creativity in the playcalling.

Most of it is. But we are also going to have to part with a couple players that will hurt us
My guess is we are losing ertz, djax, Jeffery, cox. And a handful of other starters. To be determined.
we won't be bringing in anything in free agency because we have no money.
Hope we have a good draft but don't have much faith in our management

They both get one more year to turn it around. That's the super bowl mulligan. You pretty much get 5 years after that I think with an owner. Doug and Howie burned through it in 3. Since they made the playoffs though all 3 times, they'll get one more shot. Probably with the provision that they need a new DC and an actual OC.

I’m not a Swartz guy but he’s actually the least of the problems behind Howie and Doug IMO. Howie has given him NOTHING. I can’t think of a single person that can be considered above average that Howie has given him in all the years he’s been here. The LBers and DB’s he’s had to work with are laughable.

How come these cast offs are playing good then? Rasul and Sydney are starting CBs on other teams. Why does Slay look average in our system when he's an elite corner? 27 points to the giants when our offense didn't have any turnovers is awful.

Slay actually hasn’t been bad. He been pretty solid.
I don’t know how good the castoffs are doing or it’s more they’re in different schemes. Douglas is part of a scheme that’s almost strictly zone which suits him.
I can’t really speak for how well Jones or Darby are doing.
Swartz could mix things up more, disguise better etc. I’m just saying when compared to the other 2 arguably he’s done more with less. Basically we need a to destroy and rebuild most of the staff and axe Howie.

Well Doug and Howie aren't going anywhere for at least next year. They will both get a chance to fix this. However, we've seen the Eagles defense be good, bad and ugly during Schwartz' time. We need a fresh scheme. Like the offense, there is no identity.

The Eagles gave up 382 yards and 5.7 yards per play to an offense that entered the game second-to-last in yards and points scored. They didn't convert a third down on nine attempts, and Doug Pederson went for two down 21-17 with an extra point making the score 21-18 in the third quarter. Philadelphia averaged 6.8 yards per carry but only ran the ball 23 times in a game where Carson Wentz was just OK. Wentz didn't turn the football over but did overthrow plenty of receivers and his mechanics were off. The Eagles brought Alshon Jeffery back (one target and no catches), hindering an offense that was the healthiest it has been all year

Any normal OC who sees his QB struggling would lean on their Star RB. He's back 100% healthy this week. He and Scott should have had 25 carries minimum. As it was, they had 153 yards on 19 carries and 2 TDs from the backs. Plus the complete lack of play calls in the passing game for them. Every target Sanders had was from a dump off. Same for Scott. There are no screens anymore. We don't even try the bubble screen to the WR and we actually have WR that can do it now.
So again, wtf are we doing.

Biggest still is Wentz, and I just don't know if he's not able to run the offense, or if the offense itself stinks. I don't even know if we could trade him, he has little to no value, and almost every QB in the league is playing better. Wentz shows flashes - but no consistency, and being bad 80% of the time doesn't justify continuing to invest in him.
That said, I do think we give him the year to turn it around, and if he doesn't, it's an open competition next year.

Wentz still has plenty of value. We see it too close but the league is QB starved. He's having a bad year but he's 27 and still has a lot of football left in him. Jay Cutler once got 2 firsts and a 3rd plus a QB coming back at this point in his career. Wentz would easily get a first plus if we asked this off season.
Prefer not to go that route though and get a better OC to put him in better spots to excel.

After we drop 5 of the next 6 it will be clearer to see. Unless they win a playoff game one of them is gone IMO.
Just 3 years ago we were 13-3. It seems like a decade ago.

Idk. Some of that is coaching too. GM brings in talent, coaches say they can't use them then they go other places and work out fine. Don't get me wrong. JJAW is absolutely unforgivable along with pumpfrey but picks like Jones, Douglas, Hollins, Mailata, Sweat are either starting/playing for other teams or took forever sitting on the bench when they're better than people in front of them.
I looked at the drafts and I was surprised. While we lack all-pro players, we have a lot of starters and contributors. That makes the drafts more average to slightly below average than just awful.
2016 - Wentz, Seumalo, Smallwood, Vaitai, Mills (plus Countess played 2 years for the Rams)
2017 - Barnett, Jones, Douglas, Hollins, Garry (not a great draft but 3 players we cut are starting or playing for other teams now)
2018 - Goedert, Maddox, Sweat, Pryor, Mailata (pretty good draft in retrospect. Everyone has contributed and 4 show promise)
2019 - Dillard, Sanders, JJAW (I'd say average here because Sanders is the one all pro we have got. Book is still out on Dillard. JJAW, Miller and Thorsen were bad)
2020 - Reagor, Hurts, Wallace, Driscoll, Hightower, Bradley, Watkins (all have had time, some better than others. Plus based on Schwartz evaluation, do we know Taylor can't play or Jim just likes Nathan Garry more?)
Those aren't terrible just not good. Average at best.

Berks county we require it in stores and events but they still gather. I've seen some people not where them in stores. No one freaks out.

Part of the hidden cost in those drafts is that we paid to move up to draft Wentz... So that's another first rounder we could have had. After that, making the playoffs means we're picking lower, PLUS we keep playing one of the older rosters in the NFL, so prior to some of these injuries, there just wasn't a ton of chances for playing time.
I'm also skeptical to write off Sydney Jones and Rasul Douglas. Seems like no matter who we put there, the same issues crop up. You're telling me ALL of those CB's we play have the exact same issue over and over and over again? Dunno, but I feel like it's more coaching/development at this point.
And we have a lot of lower rounders that seem like decent fill-ins...

My alarm is that Slay at times this year has made the same mistakes so many Eagles DBs have made the last 3 years. Lining up 10 yards back allowing easy under catches. Being out of position on the deep out and corner routes. Slay is really good and yet he looks like a scrub at times in our defense.

Yea, I mean most of us wanted Jefferson... That said, pretty sure if Jefferson was in the Eagles offense he wouldn't be doing much. I just have no faith in this staff.
Ya I'm not saying he's bad by any means. But if you were Howie and could go back in time, do you take Jefferson or Reagor?

And when you watch Jefferson he’s schemed open. You see it weekly with guys around the league who should draw more attention of opposing defenses. It seems like ever completion we have there’s a guy right in the receivers back pocket. It’s bad play design

It really is. And I don't want to say that's all Reich because Doug schemed guys open on 18. Even 19 he had stretches where guys were running free. This year he has lost his playcalling mojo and I blame the committee of 35 Offensive consultants for that. Too many cooks.

Not sure it's too many cooks as much as too many types of cooks. Sticking with the cooks analogy, we have a restaurant with a French chef, an Asian-fusion chef, a BBQ griller, an Italian chef, a Soul Food chef and an Indian cuisine chef. And Doug is trying to build a menu for the restaurant with the best dishes from each of them. That's resulted in us being The Cheesecake Factory instead of a 3-star Michelin restaurant that knows its concept and has all of its talented chefs using their skills to execute on it.

I try to not look to far into things but it’s hard for me at this point.
Who decided to first load the staff with experienced coaches all over? Fast forward to 2020 we have the exact opposite without an OC. Who decided to go this route? Was the decision to not hire an OC a compromise to Howie firing coaches Doug said were already safe? There’s just a lot that doesn’t make sense to me. Doug is NOT the same. Or was this always Doug and were his deficiencies covered up by OC’s?

this has been my guess. i work with people like this. great with people and knows how to manage execs but not enough actual skills without the great people around them. they all eventually get exposed and either get those great people around them back or get fired. unfortunately usually the latter and everyone else suffers. great leaders that can do it all don't exist, it's up to the leaders to realize this and manage accordingly. so far the Eagles have failed miserably and Dough unfortunately is the reason for it, albeit not intentionally his fault.
