*** Official 2022 PGA Tour Thread - Memorial Tournament, LIV list leaked- It's all Paulina's Fault **** (2 Viewers)

Eh, I got him at +1800 and parlayed him with Joker in Wimbledon.  So he's effectively @36-1 for me.  But it's a dead ticket.
That's reasonable...i was taking him when he fell to 80th in the OWGR, but no chance in he!! now that he's priced with Rahm, JT, Xander and Scottie at +1500.

Have to lean with ball strikers and those who can work the ball up, down, left and right...seems like a great fit for JT if he understand how to play links.

I heard one golf handicapper I like say there is some parallels between this course and Augusta, which seems funny but makes sense if you think about guys like Tiger and Spieth playing exceptionally well on both.  But the weather could/would be the greatest differentiator.

I like Homa this week, but can’t decide how I feel about his Woods pairing. Nerves aside, watching Tiger play this course may actually help.

Danny willet and Zach johnson too.

I really dislike Hatton, but honestly cant get away from him for this. His track record here is just too good. I know the pin placements and time of year are different, but two wins and a couple 2nds at a tourney that plays half its rounds at the old course?

Agree on Louie...don't think he can win but +210 to finish Top 20 works.

Heard a tidbit that Ernie Els has played St. Andrews more than just about anyone on earth.  If course history matters....who knows?  I threw a little bit at +300 for Top 40.

Could be like Langer to make cut at masters. Savvy vet bet. Like a bet on a savvy vet, maybe also a bet a savvy vet would make. Yeah I like it. I am in!

I don't see any of the LIV guys competing.  Too much noise going on around them and they have yet to embrace the "#### you I took the money, now I'm gonna beat your ###" mentality - well, except for P Reed.

Unless you subscribe to the belief that their hands are loose on the clubs because they just provided their families with more generational wealth than any of us could imagine and seem on the surface to be happier humans than the little theatrical tantrum-throwing players like Spieth or Rory.

Cameron Young, who was 3rd at the PGA, got to (-7) under through 12; all pars since

the better known Cameron (Smith) finished at (-5), old man Ernie Els (-5) through 12

Rory at (-4) along with amateur Barclay Brown (age 20, unknown to us but he was on the last Walker Cup)

lots of golf left but westwood, poulter, bryson and gooch came out firing today. Even phil finished at even today, that said a few of them will have afternoon tee times tomorrow and have to deal with more wind. this is gonna be a fun weekend of  :banned:  and playing golf while streaming this

I don’t think DJ cares. I liked him this week. A carefree DJ just swinging on an open course seems like a nice recipe at 35-1.

#13 pin location is absurd

**************

Tiger with a tough first

hits a great tee shot….the ball lands in a divot

picks it clean out and is heading right at the pin….wind knocks it down into the Swilcan Burn

nearly holes the chip after a drop….misses the 4’ bogey putt

I really wish they could fix this television coverage, 150th anniversary and it's at the old course and we still get so many commercials and all these damn promo video's. I do have the Tiger group up on my phone via peacock but the main coverage on USA is disappointing

Back to back birdies for Tiger.  Still a rough round, but nice to see him play a few holes well.

Spieth hits a nasty hook into a gorse bush for an unplayable.  Second bad hook off the tee for him today.

So lift, clean, and place on fairways always?

Otherwise if only when in divots rounds just got even longer with all the rulings that would be added.

I get that its a slippery slope (as some guys would start calling out of place blade of grass a "divot") But I feel like we all know it when we see it. And when its a sand fill divot in a fairway, that's just incredible punitive for absolutely no reason.

Golf nerdery.  Kurt Kitayama gained over 5 strokes putting today.  He averages about .4 strokes lost per tourney.  Fading that putting in a Round 2 head to head.

Joohyung Kim +½ -135.  You should probably fade this play.

fairway divot...stupidest rule in golf.
Thank you!

Doesn't seem like it should be overly complicated...Pick up and replace, but not clean, approximately one ball width outside the divot border but not closer to the hole.

And Bob's your uncle.

Golf is a great and proper game, but it does border on ridiculous sometimes. Taking relief from a sprinkler head shouldn't mimic doing the Hokey Pokey or a square dance.

A sprinkler head (and most outside agencies) are pretty easy to identify. “There’s a ball washer interfering with my backswing, I’m going to take relief not closer to the hole.”

Figuring out what constitutes a divot? If I’m understanding this discussion, y’all think 25M people are going to agree on what’s reasonable and “You’ll know it when you see it” will suffice?

Divots take 3-4 days to reform. Do I get relief from a sand filled divot that has growth along the edges but is still not completely covered with turf? Do you think relief from divots will encourage golfers to replace divots?

Rule 1.1 The Game of Golf

You should normally play the course as you find it and play your ball as it lies.

BTW “and Bob’s your uncle” was an answer in Double Jeopardy Monday night. It was a triple stumper bc the writers don’t know what it means.

If things are going swimmingly for you in the U.K., you might exclaim this

(The phrase is akin to “and there you have it”, usually follows a simple set of instructions or explanation. I have no idea what the folks at J! think it means.)

I know we've said this before, but Tiger is beyond done at this point. Will he get "healthier"? Maybe. But he's never gonna be healthy enough to play as much as he needs to (in order to get his game back in shape) . He's just hitting terrible shots.

I mean...he's losing to John Daly by 10 shots.

The answer to all of your questions is "yes".

I get "play it as you find it" but that should be a natural thing or as designed by the course manager - not altered by those who happened to play earlier than to did. On a similar tack - we get to repair ball marks that are in line with our putts. That's not play as you find it.

And also yes - that was a terribly written clue by Jeopardy!

Agree. Nothing I hate worse than hitting a gorgeous shot down the middle of the fairway only to land in a divot. You shouldn't get punished for hitting the fairway.

i’ll agree to disagree but that’s for another thread. love seeing DJ on top for now, he’ll be in the mix for moving day tomorrow. all this talk of less competitive golf we going to make these guys nothing more than a circus show was premature.

Not sure if Tiger can figure out how to re-strengthen the leg enough with all of it now gone.  He'll need that to compete again.

Great moment at 18 in golf history...I'm sure he'll play it again but not really compete.  Will only be topped by his 'real' finale at Augusta.

He's been wearing those for a while.  IMO they are much better than the open bottom high waters you see college kids (and Tom Brady) wearing...
When I posted he had a hoodie on. That along with those cuffed pants together just looked like someone you might see on a local muni - except I didn't think a hoodie is considered proper golf attire at most courses.

I saw someone else on the broadcast today who was wearing a hoodie so I guess it's acceptable.

i mean tiger changed the golf attire game when he started wearing those mock turtle neck golf shirts with a vest (he wore it the last 2 days) and at the time people were pissed that he wasn’t wearing a collared shirt.

Arnold and Jack both played their last Open Championship at 65. The age limit has since been lowered to 60.

At least 14 more invites on the table if he chooses to compete. While there are 9 courses in the rota, they’re not strict about the order - they go back to the Old Course every 5-6 years (‘78, ‘84, ‘90, ‘95, ‘00, ‘05, ‘10, ‘15.) At least two walks on the bridge across the Swilcan Burn in his future.

In the age of streaming and being able to have multiple feeds available to the masses, I really would appreciate a Daly-cam. I just want to have the opportunity to follow John Daly around the Old Course.
