This might be the greatest possible Semi or Final in any year.

On names. "Argentina" vs "Brazil".

These are far from the greatest Argentina or Brazil teams. They've played maybe 2 really good games between them in this tournament, and have looked very beatable in most of them.

Netherlands, Croatia is about as good a path from the Quarters to the Final as ARG could have dreamed of. Neither team are mugs, but they aren't Brazil, France or Germany either.

This game seems like a perfect example of why we don’t like a golden goal.

That was ****ing awesome. Was on a work call most of extra time but ended it to watch the PKs. So fun.

Luka Modric reminds me of the 65 year old guy on the golf course who can’t hit it past 225 or the 45 year old guy in the local bball pickup game in sweatpants where neither look like much, and you can’t even feel it happening in live time, but as the match or game ends they win by a good margin and act like nothing happened.
