I don't think it's really fair to say that Qatar never would have qualified. They won the Asian Cup. They're probably at least as good as Saudi Arabia and maybe Australia (who isn't as good as in past years). They're not as good as Iran, Japan, or South Korea, but they're in that next group in the Asian confederation.

I don't think it's really fair to say that Qatar never would have qualified. They won the Asian Cup.
