****2025 Kansas City Chiefs Thread - Time For A New Eras**** (2 Viewers)

Congrats to all the Chiefs fans

17-3 is pretty amazing stuff

I see what you did there, and I don’t like it. I was thinking more like 24-1 with 2 rings or 41-7 with 3 rings.

what is it you think I did?

never occurred to me, genuinely was just commenting on Patrick's insane record in the playoffs lol

Fair enough. Thought you may have been predicting a loss and their record on the season.
I thought the exact same thing.

Understandable. I actually wrote 20-3 initially....apparently I had already conceded a whole other year of playoff wins....decided to check after I posted and saw my oopsie, so quickly came back and edited before anyone noticed.

Ugly game, but what are you gonna do. Philly was just the better team. The amount of wanting to have that 3rd and 15 pick 6 throw back is going to haunt us fans a bit. Even without those 2 picks, we weren't going to win. I'm sure Mahomes is already making himself better, so that gives me continued confidence and hope.

Mahomes first 7 years of his career
  1. Lost AFCCG
  2. Won SB
  3. Lost SB
  4. Lost AFCCG
  5. Won SB
  6. Won SB
  7. Lost SB
Last night was the worst game of his career. Negative EPA per play. Total mismatch between their cobbled together OL & the deepest DL in the game.

Brett Veach will put his head down and go to work. They’ll be back.

Great season, incredible dynasty. One game doesn’t change everything.

I'm very grateful for this 7-year run. It was historic in many ways. I can only hope we see some more postseason magic. Veach usually has some really good answers. Tougher to do with a high-cost QB, but he's earned the trust 100%.

This is going to be an interesting offseason. About $11M in cap space. Free agents:

  • Nick Bolton (LB)
  • Hollywood Brown (WR)
  • Mike Pennel (IDL)
  • Jody Fortson (TE)
  • Mecole Hardman (WR)
  • D.J. Humphries (LT)
  • Kareem Hunt (RB)
  • DeAndre Hopkins (WR)
  • Derrick Nnadi (IDL)
  • Charles Omenihu (EDGE)
  • Samaje Perine (RB)
  • Justin Reid (S)
  • JuJu Smith-Schuster (WR)
  • Trey Smith (RG)
  • Joshua Uche (EDGE)
  • Carson Wentz (QB)
  • Justin Watson (WR)
  • Tershawn Wharton (IDL)

Some integral parts of the team there.

No idea what Veach has in mind, but Nick Bolton and Trey Smith would be the toughest to lose. The rest of those guys are mostly replaceable depth and/or some of them could come back at low cost. Anyone else you would prioritize?

I would love to keep Justin Reid.

Trading Joe Thuney was a surprise, especially after using the franchise tag on Trey Smith ($23.4 million)

Is this a pure get-under-the-cap-before-the-new-season-starts move?

The Bears will pay Thuney $16M. The Chiefs will take a dead cap hit of slightly under $11M.

Thuney was a great player, but probably makes sense to move a 33-year-old vs Trey Smith. KC has guys (Kingsley S) in waiting to play LG and get some cap relief and a 26 4th which is basically about as good as comp they would get after this season anyway. Still most interesting will be to see how they fill the LT spot.

LB Bolton to a 3 year 45m. Good signing imo, but a team that is up against the cap.
I'm a little surprised by it, if only because they have Chenal waiting in the wings absolutely worthy of more snaps, and they've been letting non-elite defenders walk when their contracts were up or traded in Snead's case. Money is about what I would have expected on the open market, possibly even slightly lower since Baun was already re-signed.

There may have been a little bit of keep away involved from division rivals since both DEN and LVR had high interest. Bolton is in his prime and Broncos for sure have a huge need at ILB

Mahomes and Chris Jones can re-structure and save a ton of space like 40mm or more.

So far so good on this. Agree Reid would be helpful.

LT - Jaylon Moore 2 years/30 so we have a LT now. Don't know too much other than he was good when he started with Trent Williams hurt etc

He graded 25/141 among all tackles last year with 0 penalties. Sounds like he is solid in both run and pass. I'll take it. Now they can focus on BPA drafting.

Josh Simmons seemingly BPA and if healthy might have gone very high. Sets up a nice battle between the 3 OT for the 2 starting spots once Simmons is healthy (not sure when he’ll be a go)

I talked up Smith a lot before the draft and think he's an absolute steal in the 7th. The best receiving RB in the draft, and it's not close. Former WR who's learning on the job with lots of room to grow. As is, he instantly gives you a quality kick returner and 3rd down back who can run big boy routes with ease.
