When did "vibe" become a buzzword of sports media parlance?
Isn't "vibe" just another way of saying "reading the room"?

I have seen it recently referenced regarding so-called "old school" managers who don't rely on analytics in making decisions. Guys like Ron Washington and Bob Melvin.

They are good with keeping the day-to-day clubhouse running, good at getting their players ready and focused--good with the "vibes".

Not so good with playing the percentages or the charts, which is of utmost importance in today's front office.

It was used at least a half dozen times by the broadcast crew. Obnoxiously over used.

Also, the fact that it's also slang for "vibrator" makes it super weird.

Mariners need to close this out.
Bryce Miller starting for Seattle. Not super confident in that....hope he can go 4 innings. It may turn into a bullpen game.

I don't think he's fully recovered from whatever sent him to the IR. This guy destroyed my fantasy pitching staff. Well, he wasn't alone. My entire starting rotation landed on the IR after ruining my pitching numbers. But Miller was bad considering where I took him.

Just gonna let Kershaw get abused, huh?

Wow.
Yeah, this would be a great time to bring in Tanner Scott.

I've watched every Dodgers game this year. Roberts gave up on this one when he pulled Pages and put in Dean. He was just saving Sheehan and Sasaki for game 4 at this point.

Roberts does this. He just gives up on a game to set up the next one. It's maddening, but he's willing to bet they can win one of the next two.

Just here to say I ❤️ Alejandro Kirk

Ernie Clement is the huge surprise for me, I was sure he was just a guy and part of me still thinks he is but they say he is absolutely incredible in the clubhouse, he led MLB in Defensive Runs Saved, despite playing 15 games at 1B, 60 games at 2B, 89 games at 3B and 29 games at SS... and yes that's way more than 162 games, he moved all over the place in game all year.

He also led the Jays in games played, playing in 157 games and he was basically just a league average hitter but he was clutch as hell and add in the above, he was worth 3.2 wins but also so much more for the vibes he brings.

Clement hit .643 (.929 SLG) in the Yankees series. Never struck out or walked, ball in play every single at bat, other than when Doval hit him in the 8th last night. Scored 5 runs and drove in 5 more. Absolutely ridiculous.

Start Spreading the news, xxxxxxx!

:ROFLMAO:
Warning: language!

We need T-shirts!
I can only imagine what the CRTC thought of Sportsnet airing that whole champagne celebration unedited. Gausman let leash quite a string of obscenities as well.

It's been interesting to watch Gausman adapt to his time in Toronto, he makes a big deal about getting out into the city and doing things and meeting people and it feels like he has really come to love Toronto.

This team is so likable, so I'm going to talk about them for a bit here while we're still riding high, because I'm not sure if this team has the pitching to win the whole thing...

A lot was made in the offseason of last year's team being out of sync in the clubhouse and on the field and this year is completely night and day. They seem so much on the same page and everyone has a role and plays completely unselfishly. They said in the offseason, they made a conscious effort to be more of a team, led by Bassitt, Gausman, Clement and Vladdy, they broke up any veteran/rookie or position player/pitcher cliques in the clubhouse. I usually write this stuff off but they do seem like a different group this year.

Then the vibes (sorry GM) got even better when Vladdy committed to his 14 year extension. He means so much to this team and city (and even country with his dad's Expos history) and it's really cool that he should now spend his entire career in Toronto. You could see the tears in his eyes last night after they won (before transitioning to full heel mode with THEEEEEE YANKEEEEEEEES LOSE! lol).

And, a lot of things have just broken right for them too. They traded for Kylometers Straw, basically just to get the rookie cap space to go after Sasaki, which failed. But then Varsho went down and Straw brought awesome centerfield defence for a lot of the season and was pretty close to an average hitter (which you take from him all day long). They asked him about not playing the other day (Santander started) and he said, "don't worry, I know I'll be in the game at some point" and he was.

Nathan Lukes, Ernie Clement and Davis Schneider have shown in round 1 what Jays fans have seen from them all season. They're "journeymen" and regarded as platoon guys their whole careers but they've both been great, almost from day one this year.

Addison Barger came up and was the left handed power bat the team has been missing forever and his ability to switch between 3B and outfield (and Gimenez and Clement's ability to play 2B, SS, 3B at a very high level), gave them a ton of flexibility to take advantage of platoon advantages for starting lineups and then also to make in game substitutions to combat pitching changes and field an optimal defensive lineup.

And that defensive lineup with both Straw and Varsho being elite defensive outfielders, Gimenez and Clement elite defensive infielders, Kirk one of the best catchers in baseball and Vladdy pretty solid at 1B, especially considering where he was a few years back, was pretty close to the best in baseball.

Obviously Vlad, Springer, Bichette, Kirk and Varsho are what make the offense really tick but the fact that they can plug so many different guys in the bottom of the lineup in so many different permutations and know they're likely going to not strike out, put the ball in play and play plus defense has made this whole season really entertaining and like I say, really easy to cheer for.

Anyway, I will stop waxing on now, but so pumped we get at least one more series with this team.

I always had a soft spot for the Blue Jays ever since Joe Carter (lives in Kansas City) hit that home run.

Met him when he had a cooling issue in his home so I went over to see what he needed. Very nice guy.

Lucky for us Royals fans we have owned the Blue Jays in the playoffs. But anytime a team takes out the Yankees it's a good day.
