Congrats Jays fans! Tough out in the World Series but you have a shot. Sucks for Mariners fans. I would have been happy for either of these fanbases.

Great series in the end. The Mariners needed last year's pitching with this year's offense, and it didn't happen. I'll root for Jays over Dodgers for sure.

I'd say most of Canada. The guys I know in Vancouver are big Seattle fans. And if there's one city in Canada they can't stand, it's "The BIG City". I've been in Toronto for a game and seen it firsthand. Watched a guy say to my buddy, after asking him where he was from and hearing "Vancouver", he goes, "Well, welcome to the Big City". And he said it like he was talking to a little kid. First time I ever saw that friend ever get so livid he got up and left, or might've ended up in a fight.
Toronto does have that vibe, at least for west coasters from their country. Like, no way are Canucks fans ever rooting for the Maple Leafs . Like NY/LA I guess you could say. Somewhat similar. It carries over into other sports, not just hockey.
The disdain for Toronto, or at least that superiority complex I'm trying to explain, is real. At least in Vancouver it is. Seen plenty of it there too. They're not Raptors fans just because it's the only team in Canada.

Hmm, not sure how you know that but you would know more than me.
What the hell, let's do math, lol. With a population over 3 million (Vancouver area) and the Mariners averaging 31K this year, then that's 15K Toronto fans, at best (not sold on it being half Toronto fans but whatever). Definitely not sold on them all being from Vancouver, and not Seattle or thereabouts, transplants and such. Or those that travel, great city to pick to visit.
I mean, claiming it's more than 50% Blue Jays fans from Vancouver, crossing the boarder no less, is a stretch. Getting on a plane and getting out of Calgary makes more sense than that drive from Vancouver (yes, done it numerous times).
So even in the best case scenario, that is far from a definitive example of Vancouver being full of Blue Jays fans, or Toronto being "Canada's team". Will there be thousands of Toronto fans in the Vancouver area? Of course, with over 3 million people there.
I'm actually going to ask my buddy tomorrow, he's born and raised there and is an absolute sports fanatic, with season tickets behind the net, etc. I can't ask tonight, he's for sure still in mourning over the Mariners loss. Anyway, will report back, lol!

Can't vouch for the over 50% Jays fans claim, but I know a lot of people living in the greater Vancouver area that go to Seattle for Mariners and Seahawks games. Some are M's & Seahawks fans and some support the Jays & Seahawks.

Yeah, I don't really care to argue about it. There are definitely a lot of Western Canadians who hate Toronto but it doesn't usually spill over into baseball.

It has obviously been fewer this season because A LOT fewer Canadians are interested in visiting the US these days because .. well, you know ..

Didn't hurt that all batters - especially Rodriguez - were swinging at balls. Julio didn't get 1 strike and a couple were not even close, but he still swung. All with Raleigh waiting in the on dec circle. But, credit to Hoffman, for sure, he was throwing hard. I was impressed with Bassitt. Guy hasn't pitched in a while, comes into a new situation as a reliever and delivered. he also benefitted from a questionable 3rd strike on Suarez, but we will take it.

#2 home run in Jays history behind Carter? I know there was a ton of emotion with Bautista's but it was also only ALDS and a tie game. This one was literally sent then to the world series.

Before the playoffs never saw the Dumper play before. Now I watched Seattle play 12 games in two weeks. Felt like I knew every player.
Watched that 3rd strike call on Suarez a number of times, it was a 50-50 call, too close to take in that situation.
MLB really needs to go to a laser strike zone as players are getting more combative on these calls.

Pitch #2 of the at bat got more of the plate and was called a ball, so of course he thought that last one was going to be called a ball as well.

I understand. Players have a split second to decide, as do the umpires calling the pitches.
With pitchers throwing in 95-100 mph range, then add sliders and curves to be accurate all the time is almost impossible. Going with a standardized laser zone would improve the game.
I felt the ump was pretty inconsistent, Will be interested to see UMpire Auditor today. He called some really low strikes, but then the next pitch in same location was a ball. Seemed to me that the Jays benefitted the most but he wasn't terrible (see: Eddings) just felt inconsistent.
It will still cause moaning from fans and players because there will be many, many strikes called on absolutely unhittable pitches that technically catch the "laser zone" but visually will not look anything like a strike.
Incorporating the challenge system where the majority of pitches are still called by umpire and a quick challenge by batter/pitcher will be where it goes. Going 100% automated system won't happen.
Didn't robo-ump (the box and ball turning yellow for a strike) call it a strike?
if i recall it was just outside the box - (watching on the sportsnet broadcast) - but it was really close. Not one that's typically called a strike cause it wasn't where Kirk was setup and it was a slow curve, up and in.

It would, but at least it would be consistent. I watched a lot of baseball this season and some of the strikes/no strikes calls were so bad.
In one Detroit game the plate ump missed 23 pitches. 6-7 were either a possible strikeout or a walk. Impacts the game.
One thing that would never happen is stop the catchers from "framing' the pitch. That is one of the main reasons for ball calls as it happens so fast the human eye can`t detect it. Since the framing has become an art there seems to be way more bad calls.
This happens both ways. Pitches not where the catcher is set up so he has to reach that are strikes are called balls all the time as well. Framing is an art and it goes both ways. Robo ump may do away with some bad calls but it will also have a lot of strikes that people won't think are strikes because of the visual aspect of where the pitch ends up. The way the strike zone is with robo-ump will likely get exploited if MLB goes to strict robo-ump only.
I prefer a hybrid where umps make the call and batter/pitcher can challenge quickly. It doesn't take long and will clear up the majority of obviously missed calls. That is what is needed.

Yeah, there's a ton of Blue Jays fans at the Mariners' games. Or at least there was before, you know.....tariffs and whatnot.
I'll be rooting for the Blue Jays in the WS. Tired of the Dodgers and their embarrassment of riches. It was good to see them win a few years ago, but I think Dodger fatigue has set in for me. If they lose this one, they'll just go out and sign Honus Wagner, Sadaharu Oh and Goliath.
Not having a salary cap is stupid.
