***Official 2025 Tour de France*** - Come Dope with Us! This Year Prizes!!! (5 Viewers)

@Sand Please load us 3 no shows into the spreadsheet.
Catalunya isn't over yet. What no shows?
The 3 or 4 of us who missed today will need scores in the spreadsheet.
At least right now I'm not tracking the 45 spring classics one. That's just a Velogames thing at the moment.

One thing I'd need to figure out if I was to track that would be to see the league with each race individually, not as a rolled up sum. Is that a thing?

hey if you free loaders want to earn points there’s another entry deadline for Sunday’s race.
  • Round 8 2025-03-28 12:30:00 E3 Saxo Classic Cat 2
  • Round 9 2025-03-30 10:30:00 Gent-Wevelgem Cat 2
  • Round10 2025-04-04 12:15 Dwars door Vlaanderen Cat 2

CEST is +6 from EDT so 4:30am Sunday

In addition to Sunday, we have two more one day races again next weekend (Friday 4/4 & Sunday 4/6)

Next Stage race after Volta Ciclista a Catalunya starts Monday 4/7

Any thoughts on throwing out our lowest score? After plummeting to the bottom 10% the first 3 Stages (sans sprinters) I’ve managed to move up to the lowest quintile the last two stages. Pathetic.

Today's stage in the Catalunya was shortened:

Stage 6»BergaBerga
(20km)
Due to high wind risks, the ascent of the Coll del Pradell was cancelled, which shortened the stage from 159 to 118.6 km. Eventually the stage was adjusted to be 72 km long with one lap around Berga. After a neutralisation of 52 km the stage got underway with 20 km to go

Oh, man. There is a reason they make these things long. Super short means super hard with the possible carnage that may ensue.

They also put in a timing cutoff at 5 km so I don't think there was any carnage.

There's something we can probably come up with. I'll come up with something in the next couple of weeks and toss it out for you guys

Is there any way to just view Gent -Wevelgem for our league? All I can seem to find is the total.

Searched for a general cycling thread, but didn't see one. Is there a thread for us heathen mountain bikers anywhere, or am I alone for that? We just got 2ft of fresh snow, so I'm a ways off and still fat biking :loco:. Curious what everyone is riding and what trail conditions look like around the country. I have been watching more road racing this year and do enjoy it, but my strength lies more in short burst power than steady state cardio though I've done a few 100+ mile epics on the mountain bike and do enjoy it. If this isn't the place for this, or there's another thread I'll move along.

There used to be a cycling thread for us slow pokes but I haven't seen it in years. @Sand and @BobbyLayne are the smart guys around here so maybe they can point you in the right direction.

I switched to road biking when someone saw my Cannondale lefty in the garage and decided they needed it more than me. I then switched to waddling when everyone I knew was getting thumped by cars.

I give Rolgic a lot of crap, but man I'm a fan now after yesterday's ride. That may have been the best race I ever watched with the chase for sprint bonuses.

@Jaysus is damn sharp too.

The next two weeks, Wednesday+Sunday one day races for the Superclasico Sixes contest.

Round 10 2025-04-02 12:15:00[ Dwars door Vlaanderen Cat 2

Round 11 2025-04-06 09:45:00 Ronde van Vlaanderen
[ Cat 1

Round12 2025-04-09 12:45:00 Scheldeprijs Cat 3

Round 13 2025-04-13 11:15:00 Paris-Roubaix Cat 1

Across Flanders, Tour of Flanders (Ronde van Vlaaneren in Dutch - 2nd Monument), a flat sprinters race, and then the Hell of the North, the 3rd Monument of 2025.

The day after Flanders, Monday April 7, is the next Stage race contest - Itzulia Basque Country. Steep ascents are a hallmark of the autonomous region, with arguably the best cycling fans in the world.

And then the glorious week of Fleche Wallonne and Liege Bastogne Liege. Best week in cycling right there, folks.

Hope I remember and have time to submit lineups as my son and I are driving around Ireland/N. Ireland, literally. We basically doing a big loop. Haha
Done that twice. Ireland is awesome. My wife would drag me there every year if she could.
First time for me. My wife and I had talked about going before she got sick and passed. Turns out we’ll be there for her birthday. Not planned that way, at least consciously.

Do Newgrange - need to make reservations. Don't do the other mounds there, make sure Newgrange. It's the one can't miss in Ireland. Nowhere else on this planet can you step into a 12,000 year old building. Lifetime memory for your kid.

And, if you can, take a walk/ride through the Gap of Dunloe. I managed to bike through it twice (once each way!) and it is literally the most beautiful place on earth.

Thanks for the recommendations!!!

So the UCI did a UCI thing and just passed a rule that road tires are limited to 31mm. Why 31? Because cyclocross is 33, duh.

If WvA and Benoot are off the front already, it is in support of Jorgenson, right?

ETA: Jorgenson is with them in the break ;)

This makes absolutely no sense as the world moves to at least 32 if not 35mm (I've seen guys want to try 40mm if their frames allow it) especially given the safety concerns (the wider mm tires have more surface area on the road and therefore more grip). I can't believe the wheel makers are happy with this as it cuts off a whole upgrade cycle (you really need wider internal wheel widths to make the shape of the tire aero optimal and have them be tubeless to offset the aero loss from just being junkier).
