[should've brought in Fister. Why not? No way a guy like Leyland would ever think outside the box though. Never. No creativity whatsoever. The guy is a walking ad for unions today.
Or why not bring in Porcello or Smyly in the 6th (they on the post-season roster??)? Either one if very capable of a strong once-through-the-order.
Yeah, both those guys are in the pen. I think Porcello even made a brief appearance at some point. Can't remember which game.

What happens if JV gets hit early? Does Leyland explode in a cloud of cigarette smoke? I would guess JV stays out there for 7 innings, no matter what, right?

good luck A's, but looks like we can put this one as an easy win for the tigers :headbang:

peace to all

Man, I love/hate these Oakland fans. They're a crazy, noisy bunch.

JV pitching extremely well through 5 ..pitch count pretty good.

No doubt who series MVP is. Anyways, it does not matter really that Verlander pitched tonight, he is going to pitch twice in the series anyways. Leyland will not pitch him three times,

Call me crazy, but the later in the series V pitches his first game, the less likely he is to pitch his second.

A's will take this in four games as they are on a roll. The Tigers essentially backed in by way of a White Sox choke job. MVP Miggy is the wild card here. Best of luck and enjoy...
Pretty close Nostradumass.Do you have a gambling newletter I can subscribe to? Stay on those meds gb, godspeed.

Great night for Verlander. Loved it in th 9th when the announcers said.. "There is nobody loosening up or even stretching in the bull pen..this is Verlanders game"

My hats off to the As. Hard to believe with that lineup they did what they did. 15 walkoff wins does help the cause.

Man did Verlander look in control from start to finish or what

A's catcher looked very nervous.

Would love to see the O's just for HFA but playing the Yankees is never boring.

I would expect the yanks to win today, setting up a possible CC vs JV game 3 if they short rest CC. Either team it should be interesting.

:goodposting: Glad the O's took that game ...gives Detroit an extra day of rest, which should allow JV to pitch game 3, maybe. JV - what a warrior. There's going to be some coooold World Series games.

I don't think Detroit gets an extra day of rest, it's just that the Orioles/Yankees won't get any rest. MLB is locked in with a 10/13 start to this series I believe.JV pitches game 3 for sure. Tuesday Night.

Exactly. Game 3 and 7 would both be regular rest for JV. I think Max is the one that I would bump to game 4 to pull JV ahead. He's better than Anibal, but his endurance and velocity are both still down from the shoulder injury. Give him as much rest as you can.FisterSanchezVerlanderScherzerFisterSanchezVerlanderWoot!!!!

A great season for the A's. Really incredible what they pulled off with such young talent. Verlander was just too much. Detroit's starting pitching was awesome. The offense was just OK. Prince had some hits stolen by great defense. Cabrera hit well, but was not all that clutch. Infante had a great series, the best of any non-pitcher. Detroit's defense probably had its best stretch all season. We won't even talk about the bullpen. The only adjustment I would make to the roster is find a way to get Villarreal on it.

That is likely the rotation. It would be nice if Max can go game 2.

The Tigers only took 7 walks in the whole series. Our pitchers walked 14 which is respectable. But only taking 7 is pretty sad.
