***official*** all things Microsoft Xbox One (1 Viewer)

Tell me more about how to set up these emulators....
http://www.emulator-zone.com/ Can get emulators for pretty much all systems up to the PS2/Xbox generation. Apparently there is even one for PS3, but I would not mess with it. As far as the games go, you will have to search for those on your own. Torrent sites usually have a large batch of games in one zip file - especially when talking about SNES and NES games, they are only around 4-5 Megs, which is about the same size as a crappy-quality MP3. So it is literally not a problem to have every NES/SNES game ever made on your PC. Using USB controllers makes it so that you can play games with a PS3 or xbox 360 controller, so the original systems don't have any advantage whatsoever.
They have the advantage of nostalgia. Popping the cartridge in gives me a better feeling than clicking a file on my pc.
Ok, no technical or convenience advantage. I suppose that nostalgic value could go with the original consoles, but I will take my save states, thousands of games at my fingertips, and ease of use over the original console versions. Of course if you ENJOY blowing in those old NES games trying to get them to read properly... :)

Disappointed in the Battlefield 4 demo. They were supposed to show the first multiplayer demo during the Microsoft presser, but wound up showing a single player demo. Looked good, but I want to see a multiplayer demo. I wasn't sure about Titanfall until the gameplay footage. Could be a system seller. It looked really good.
I thought the B4 demo looked great, but I'm looking forward to some multiplayer footage also. Titanfall is going to be a hit I think.
I said what I said about the Battlefield 4 demo because the majority of Battlefield 4 players don't even touch the single player. That's also the case with FBG Battlefield players. I think I'm the only Battlefield 3 PC player here that admitted to playing the campaign. I agree that it looked great, but when only 5% of the player base even touches it, focus on the multiplayer like the old days (when a single player Battlefield meant playing against bots).
I agree... but they are just saving some stuff for a later reveal. Gotta string us nerds out. ;)
BTW, I did find it funny that they showed the PC version in the demo and it wasn't playing off of Xbox One.
But it was running out of the engine, so does it matter much?
Well yeah. A PC could be a lot more powerful than the XB1.

I just read that Titanfall will be coming to PC too. So the big thing that caught my attention in the Microsoft Press Conference as a reason to buy an XBox One just became obtainable without one.

Right, but it's not a pre-rendered representation of gameplay that people have killed developers for showing in the past. It's running on the games engine. You have to think they know the kind of ####storm there would be if they faked everyone out today, right? It's not gonna be long before that would become obvious. There's no advantage.

So $500 plus $20 bucks a month for XBL?
They haven't said anything about pricing of XBL regarding whether it will stay the same or go up.
I thought I read that it was going to $20 upthread. Could be wrong.
I think that was in regards to a possible 'subsidized' XB1 unit.
Right. Like a cell phone plan. You pay much less for the XBox, but have to pay a higher per month cost for Live during a 2 year contract without the option to buy a year card.

None of that has been confirmed. No Live pricing has been announced, nor has there been confirmation of an option like that. We just discussed the speculation. Though it's still a possibility.

Edit: Just as I type this, Kotaku announces that Microsoft has said that Xbox Live Gold service pricing will not be changing. http://kotaku.com/xbox-live-gold-price-not-going-up-for-xbox-one-512345060

$499 is a little higher than what I expected.
Pretty much exactly what I expected. It will be interesting to see if the PS4 comes in lower, say $399.
$499 isn't crazy high or anything. I was thinking more like $399 or $449, or at least a couple of SKUs with one at a lower price point.
I don't recall for sure what the PS3 was at launch, but I want to say $599? My wife bought it for me for a Christmas present :)

Yes, $599. Famous for the Sony CEO saying people would get a second job to buy one.

The potential for gamers to make their own awesome action RPG's with Project Spark is really exciting. I take back my comment about nothing blowing my mind--Project Spark, and it's potential if its really as limitless as it seems, is incredibly mind blowing for a creative gamer.

Yes. $599 for the $80 GB model and $499 for the $20 GB model.

Dead Rising 3 is fully online co-op capable. Huge selling point for me.
This is the one I am most excited about after the presentation today. I loved Alan Wake & Max Payne so I was hoping to see more of Remedy's Quantum Break.

I'm always dubious of launch day titles though so they don't matter much to me (Perfect Dark Zero & Gun were pretty disappointing last go around.) I don't plan to buy one this time and I also didn't buy either of the other previous consoles at launch. It wasn't until Gears came out that I broke down and HAD to have a 360.

Dice just stated that the BF4 Multiplayer preview will be at the EA event that starts at the top of the hour.

tech journalists bug me to no end, but I liked this guys article:

EA Announces New Star Wars: Battlefront Game

It’s quite something to see an ostensibly professional journalist just start screaming with unbridled excitement, but the games industry can still provide us with a moment like that every once in a while, even in this cynical age. I saw a few such moments when EA announced Star Wars: Battlefront at its E3 press conference today.
EA acquired the exclusive right to make Star Wars games after Disney shuttered Lucasarts following its acquisition of the license earlier this year. There was much groaning at the time, but shortly after people started to rumble about what would happen if the company made a new entry in the beloved Battlefront series. EA has had ample practice with large-scale, wartime multiplayer games with its successful Battlefield series, so in many ways, this new game can be seen as a new installment in two different series.

Star Wars: Battlefront will run off of EA’s new Frostbite 3 engine, engineered for next-gen consoles. We didn’t see much beside the thundering hoof of an AT-AT in the reveal trailer, but that’s enough to indicate that we’ll be piloting some large vehicles. This will give EA a chance to prove Star Wars fans that it can be trusted with this beloved IP — after all, it was something that fans were asking for, and now it’s something that EA is doing. That doesn’t happen nearly enough in the gaming industry.

glutton for punishment I guess.

that, and I've always been an xbox guy

Honestly didn't even look at the Sony.....just assumed they were similar, no?

Takes out support pillar for highway above, that was pretty cool.
That was awesome. Some of the multiplayer demo was lame. Players moved really slowly. But the Watercraft were awesome and it looks like infantry can lock onto them with weapons as I noticed one of the boats had IR Flares.

Really looking forward to this. I will not be buying Ghosts. First CoD title in the last 5yrs that I wont be buying. I have played more hours on BF3 than I have on MW3 and BO2 combined. Cant wait for BF4. Now how many FBGs will convert to Xbox One or will we be on the 360?

I've historically been an Xbox guy as well....but that's an expensive choice to make without even checking out the competition.

I think this go around, they are going to be quite different conceptually.
Okay, how?
Really? Did you not read the thread or, perhaps, anything that's been in the news the past month? XBox is leaning towards the all in one living room box. PS4 is going full on game mode.
