***official*** all things Microsoft Xbox One (1 Viewer)

At this point, I think my life's biggest regret might be that I used my former college email (which I no longer have access to) when I created my xbox live account 7 freaking years ago.

Trying to get access to that account for xbox live is worse than breaking into the pentagon. How freaking hard should it be to change the email address on an account? I really don't feel like starting over with a new gamer tag but I'm almost at that point.
:lmao: I feel ya Tlef, I lost my very first account because of something similar. That was before the current subscription which is 9 years old. The AOL email I used 9 years ago has expired a few times and I was lucky enough to just recreate it.

Had that problem when I went from Xbox to XBox 360. I was on the original XBox Live beta and should have 12 years of service on it, but I forgot my info from the original account (my original GT was SlaX) and had to create the one I have now, of which I have yet to change the name. At least the original Xbox didn't do achievements, so I didn't have to worry about losing those.

xbox fitness is actually pretty damn cool. I've only briefly screwed around with it, but this concept for kinect has alot of promise.

:goodposting:

I just posted this in the XBO vs. PS4 thread, but I really liked opening it up for the first time the other day... I didn't browse through the library too much, but I was impressed with the initial selection of videos that I saw. I ended up doing a 40-minute Insanity workout and was pretty gassed by the end. The scoring feature via the Kinnect motion tracking is pretty cool, albeit still very buggy (not enough to ruin my experience, but I can see how this would really irk some type-A people).

Got my Feb patch last night. The next big update is in March.

I played around with a XB1 controller for the first time today. The sticks definitely felt looser than they did on the 360, but at least they weren't as bad as the ps3. Does the controller take a lot of getting used to?

I didn't think so, got used to it right away.

Titanfall is just a stupid amount of fun.

If their goal is to move as many Xbox ones as possible, they made a big mistake releasing this on the 360. It could have been a system mover in the same way the original Gears of war was. However, since its available on the 360, I'm betting a lot of people just stick with the older version, I don't believe there are any major differences (other than graphics)

Yeah, I'll definitely be buying this one. PC for me, though. The only question is when. And I may wait for a price drop. I'm not really in a hurry to get it, but I am enjoying the beta.

About 6 of my friends are gamers and only two have gone into the next gen. We all were waiting for something to grab us and thought Titanfall fall was it. All of 3 days ago I learned they are releasing a 360 version and told my friends about it because we all thought it was one/PC exclusive. M$ most likely just lost 4 consoles purchases as we can now safely wait for a price drop or the next gears to come out...unless that hits 360 also.

Titanfall looks crazy fun but I do to give a #### about graphics.

Long story short, my group of friends and gf were waiting for Titanfall to get a xbox one. Two guys couldn't wait so now they may be waiting a lot longer, maybe to the next gears...if that doesnt come out for the 360.

It could have been a system seller but being X1 only would have limited sales of the game. I think they are perfectly happy if they sell 10+ million copies vs. 5 million copies as a X1 exclusive.

As a short term play, no question about it. They'll make more money. As a long term play, it MIGHT have made more sense to have it as an XB1 exclusive and move more systems. By showing that the latest and greatest game is still playable on the last gen systems, they'll encourage people to hold off on buying them.

The developer and publisher are happier with 10 million sales compared to 5 million sales. Microsoft would have been happier moving hardware. I know the two are closely related because Microsoft had to compensate EA for exclusivity, and the size of the check they had to write was obviously determined in part by just how exclusive the game was going to be, but looking back now I think Microsoft is probably wishing that they had struck a deal for an X1-only game.

Any of you using this mostly as an entertainment center? I have an apple TV. But it seems this has some interesting capabilities as an entertainment center as well. I dont really play video games however.

I had a lot of fun with Titanfall. It's a great game, glad pretty much everyone will have a chance to play it.
I suck so hard at this game. I was hoping it would be easier than COD or BF, but I was wrong. :kicksrock: Oh well, can save the 60 bucks for a different game.

I found this interesting and possibly why MS didn't care that much if it was a X1 exclusive:

Part of why Titanfall doesn’t look amazing is because the game was developed with Valve’s last-generation Source engine. While its resolutions and textures might look a little shinier on the PC and Xbox One, the tech powering Titanfall isn’t exactly modern. Most of Valve’s popular games, Portal 2, Team Fortress 2 and even the ancient Half-Life 2, were all built with Valve’s source engine. Of course various upgrades have been applied to the engine over the years, but it is still fundamentally the same.

Re: Titanfall

I find I have more fun as a pilot on foot. When I get into the Titan, I'm not very good and I feel so clumsy. I went on a 12 kill streak (pilots & Titans, not counting minions) last night and then got in a Titan for a couple more kills and then died. I feel like I should have called it and put it into auto-pilot instead. But I'm loving the parkour elements. Also love rodeoing Titans for kills.

I'm getting a little better now with a Titan. For sure the Nuclear perk is a must for me. If you're getting double or triple teamed by Titans, greed for that "Titan Kill" pulls them in every time. Only for you to go nuclear and get a triple Titan kill. Sometimes more, since pilots will try to join in as well.

In their first two months on the market, Xbox One outsold Xbox 360 by a 2-to-1 margin.

Sales from launch through Dec. 31:

Xbox 360 (2005): 1.5 million (worldwide)

Xbox One (2013): 3 million (worldwide)
Not bad for console that isn't selling well.

For me, the key to doing better with Titans has been being less aggressive with them. You want to feel invincible because you're in this big giant robot, but you're not. I generally stick to the outsides of the map and join in on Titan vs. Titan battles to lend support to my team's side of the battle, kill pilots trying to sneak up on my teammate's titan, or use the titan to rack up pilot kills. As long as you're not in the dead center of the action you can rack up a lot of pilot kills pretty quickly. They love to shoot their homing rocket at you and, after the first one hits, they'll show up on the radar. Just keep an eye on that spot and in a second or two they'll pop out to try and shoot another rocket, at which point you can take them down easily.

Anyone else get an invite to the Beta program? Signed up yesterday hoping to get an approval soon.
Where did you sign up? I thought it was just a random pick of X1 owners and we'd get a message about it automatically.
It was sitting in my messages one day. I guess I got lucky.

I have beta tested for MS before on occasion so maybe that had something to do with it. Not to mention I played the TitanFall beta heavily.

The watch espn ap on the Xbox one is dog crap. Constant freezes and it often forgets to come back from commercial.

Hard to believe that they could screw it up. Works fine on the 360

You could say this about half the things on the XB1. Clearly rushed to market, hopefully over the next year they'll get it all sorted out.
How can anybody not have expected that? It took them almost half the lifecycle of the 360 to release stable hardware.
I thought the original 360 dashboard was the most stable. It got worse and worse each update. edit: nevermind, you said hardware. Yeah, that's a good point.

The March update to Xbox One is in beta right now. I haven't found an official list of updates but here is a list put together by various testers from here and there:

- You can update controller through USB
- You now have an option under Kinect that says ” Turn hand cursor off while watching video. Before this, sometimes just moving around on your couch could make Kinect think you're trying to do something you're not.
- Tutorials about gestures and voice commands are in the settings menu
- A ” show all other notifications” option under NOTIFICATIONS (hopefully this means we will be able to see if friends come online)
- Everything just seems FASTER!
- OPTICAL and HDMI audio settings have an option for “BITSTREAM OUT” (no idea what it is. IIT gives you an option between DTS Digital Surround and Dolby DigitalFriends APP is much improved. Can see online friends first, recent players and a FAVORITES option.
-"XBOX, BROADCAST” for TWITCH is in but not turned on yet. If you say it, it only opens the Twitch app but no broadcast yet.

- You can eable 50Hz for your TV.

- Dolby Digital over optical is now enabled.

Also, I believe this update boosts GPU by 8% (this 8% was previously set aside for Kinect).

I suck a little too. The beta was two maps. The full game is 15. It seems like everyone else knows the maps but me.

I sucked donkey balls at this game in the beta. We'll see how the real thing goes - will have time to do the training now as I never figured out how to use the Titans.
