Official Alshon Jeffery - The Bandwagon (1 Viewer)

Despite that comment about not forcing it, I think this is a "squeaky wheel gets the grease" week for Alshon. It'd be one thing if he just wasn't targeting him, but he's gonna hear all week about how he missed him wide open in the end zone with the game on the line.

I mean, I have to start him regardless, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

:lmao:  Hoyer pretending he goes through his progressions.
That is amazing. I've seen at least 20-25 plays in the last 3 games, where Hoyer has clearly picked where he is going before the play. Hoyer has played pretty well, in that he's avoided turnovers, and made a few big plays, but Bears WR's have been open all year. If he'd been going through progressions, he might have had 12 TD's over the last 3 games. Jeffery, Royal, Meredith, Miller and White, before he got hurt, have all been running seemingly wide open all season.

As for Jeffery, this feels like a good time to buy low. He's clearly the biggest talent there, and the squeaky wheel tends to get the grease. Hoyer forced tons of passes to Gordon and Hopkins in the past, and Jeffery is on the same level of talent as those guys.

Bears coach John Fox implied he does not think Alshon Jeffery needs more targets.
"From a production standpoint, to say that we're not getting him the ball is a little bit off," Fox said. "I think he has been what I would consider — I think our opponents do too — pretty productive." The first step to fixing a problem is admitting one exists, and neither Fox nor QB Brian Hoyer was willing to do so this week. Fox even went as far to say Jeffery has just three fewer catches than Eddie Royal and Zach Miller, as if the clear No. 1 receiver having "just three" fewer catches than a slot guy and tight end is acceptable. Jeffery still has five fewer targets than Kevin White, who has been on injured reserve for a week. Fox admitted earlier this week he does not have a plan to deal with the quarterback situation, and it is becoming clear that philosophy applies to the rest of the offense as well.

Well it looked good for a half vs Jax last week anyways.

Could TNF vs GB finally be the week we get, wait for it, a touchdown?  Sam Shields is out again, Eddie Royal now has a toe injury to go along with a calf injury.  Hopefully Alshon can see a nice number of targets this week, or at least whatever is left after their #1 WR Cameron Meredith gets his.

Calling it.  8 for 120 and 2 Thursday.

Packers will be missing top 3 corners. Alshon going to go nuts Thursday.... Packers had no prayer vs Beasley, Williams, and Butler sunday.

Benched until further notice.   I'm not sure it's going to matter who the QB is.  The Bears are simply a hot mess and their offense isn't good enough to produce a reliable fantasy option right now with how many mouths are being fed (Jeffery, Meredith, Miller, and Royal will be back, not to mention the slew of RB's).

I actually like him after his bye next week. Some good matchups and no really terrible ones. Wash and GB is pretty good playoff schedule.

You'd have to be crazy to play him against the vikings this week though.

My thoughts exactly.  He's a bad option for this week but with Cutler back and the bye to get more healthy he should be a very good option down the stretch.

I'm playing Alshon over Robinson on TNF. Jeffery will at least get some garbage time catches. I cant trust Robinson anymore, especially on a short week.

FWIW I am also somewhat reluctantly starting Alshon this week.  The matchup is terrible but my options are very weak.

I actually have this exact decision and I'm going with Robinson. I may be stubborn but I refuse to believe he is this bad. Even if he only gets 50 yards, which is what he was averaging before whatever last week was, that's still a better night than I think Alshon is going to have. The Vikings have really shut down some offenses this year.

I see Tate on the upswing and Jeffery needs to have a good game before I trust him again, so he's benched for me this week, not even getting in as WR3. I do have hope for later weeks with Cutler back.

Alshon Jeffery on Jay Cutler's return: "I'm excited. It don't matter who's out there at quarterback, but Jay is my guy." #Bears

Alshon on if Cutler's return means opportunities for him: "We'll be on the same page. ...I just told him: 'Throw it up & give me a chance.'"

It may not happen on Monday, but its still going to happen this season.  Cutler and Alshon together on an F You Chicago we are both outta here farewell tour.

Announcer:  "Aaaaand that's another ill advised throw by Cutler,  this one returned for six."   :D
But then he'll say f*** it, come right back out next drive, do it again, and hit him for a 60 yard TD. That's what's great about Jay. He just doesn't care.

ETA: That's what's great...from a FANTASY perspective lol

Matt Harmon was saying that he is being used differently in terms of running mostly deep routes.   Apparently he gets the next generation GPS route tree data post game.   That isn't great news for those in PPR leagues.

If Cutler has even a little time, Alshon will get the ball. Alshon is unstoppable by any defense if Cutler has the time, which is a huge concern.

With Cutler likely out of Chicago at the end/after this season, would now be a good time to shop Jeffery in dynasty leagues?  (While a big fan of Jeffery, I don't own him in any keeper/dynasty leagues.  Just following where the thread is going.)

I would think if a rookie QB is brought in, that could significantly hamper Jeffery's numbers.

With Chicago line troubles they are gonna get smothered by mn def line   he won't have time to think about throwing an interception

Jeffery is playing under the franchise tag and may not even be in Chicago next season.  So you are assuming a lot by saying he will be in Chicago next season.

Nice to have Cutler back but lousy opening matchup.
Jeffery's last 4 games vs. Minnesota.   He seems to do pretty well when playing at home,  where this matchup will be held.

@MIN - 1-10   (5 targets) "Alshon Jeffery historically dominates the Minnesota Vikings. Not Sunday, though; not even a little bit." - FBG Recaps

v.MIN - 10-116, TD   (15 targets)  "In a word, Jeffery was uncoverable." -FBG Recaps

@MIN - 2-34   (5 targets)  "Alshon Jeffery did not have a good game against the Vikings." - FBG Recaps

v.MIN - 11-131, TD   (17 targets)  "Alshon Jeffery was back to being Alshon Jeffery on Sunday after a few very pedestrian outings." - FBG Recaps

Minnesota defensive unit was not this good the past 2 years though.   I wouldn't use that as reliable data.

You guys post stuff and don't even look into it.  Bears will have 50 million plus in cap space .  Jeffrey isn't leaving Chicago  that's not even assuming a little .

The Vikings are expected to shadow Alshon Jeffery with CB Xavier Rhodes.
It's a tough matchup for Jeffery, who doesn't have a huge size edge over Rhodes. He's trending in the wrong direction coming off one of his worst games against the Packers. Jeffery projects for a higher target share with Jay Cutler returning, but isn't more than a low-end WR2.

The last two passes to Jeffrey have both bounced off of his helmet. On the first, it was about 20 yards down field and he never turned around. The ball bounced off the back of his helmet. Then, on a third down in the end zone, Cutler threw a fastball and Jeffrey didn't get his hands up in time and it smashed off his face mask. How does a guy totally lose it in one year?  He's terrible.

After staying up for last night's game all I need is 3.4 points in PPR from this bum so I can go to bed for Christ's sake,
