Official Alshon Jeffery - The Bandwagon (1 Viewer)

If the Bears were to let Jeffrey walk next season, they would get a compensation pick I believe without any trade, and likely a relatively high one, although I am not sure exactly how that works, its possible based on Jeffrey's salary and accomplishments so far that this pick might be as high as the end of the 3rd round. This depends on what other free agents are signed and how that offsets the players lost.

So any other trade they might make would likely be for higher than that in return.

And so it begins....knee injury, DNP - welcome to hell, Jeffery owners....

Last year he was listed as probable many of the weeks he didn't play. The NFL got rid of that designation, so at least he's only questionable for the next 2 months.

This dude was the bane of my existence last year.

I vowed that I would not draft him in any league this year - not because he got hurt. Players get hurt. More because of the way Fox tries to be coy and F's with everyone about the playing status and injury. He played pretty fast and loose with the injury report every week, he never, ever gave an accurate update, and IIRC, Jefferey's hammy injury was referred to as "mild" or "minor" all preseason - this went into the regular season, and became a running joke.

Said every Jefferey owner, just about every week last year.
Any more cheerios you'd like to take a piss in?

Nah - I just suffered through it every week in 2 leagues. It left a mark.

Expect injury updates to be frequent and non-informative.

Also, there is no Santa Claus. Your parents put out the presents and dad ate the cookies. Just sayin.

dreaded GTD ... especially on SNF ... at least I  have Sanu on MNF I can sub in if he doesn't go

BTW - I think ratings for him this week are too high especially with Cutler out

Owned him last year and he cost me a lot of cash. Dude is gutless in my mind. Only got healthy when his contract came up. Back to jaking it.

I looked at Jeffery's practice reports and how they tied to him being active/inactive from last year and if Jeffery practiced on Firday,  limited or otherwise, he was active that week. And he was usually effective although he was on a snap count after he injured his groin (which was his 3rd legitimate injury of that season).

I think what is more worrying than his status for this week is the obvious overcompensation injuries he suffers when not 100%. Last year he had a calf injury which lead to a hamstring injury which lead to a groin injury.

What's with his targets in the second half?  He's looked great and had almost 100 yards in both 1st halves, then goes radio silent.

Dysfunctional offense.  Alshon is unable to be covered if the qb has any time to throw,  which they never do

Alshon looked pretty hobbled on a bad knee towards the end of the game, but he still aggressively grabbed any targets thrown his way.  Maybe he needs to be shut down for a few weeks?  CHI bye not until week 9.

Hoyer going through his progressions..

Is Kevin White open? Throw it to him.

Is Kevin White kind of open? Throw it to him.

Is Kevin White covered? Throw it to Zach Miller.

I'm not sure I'd read too much in to this weeks game. Jeffery was clearly hobbled. If he's hobbled and not getting open Hoyer's looking elsewhere. We just need a healthy Alshon.

None of the Bears WRs are getting open.  Jeffery has never really been considered a guy who gets separation, he just gets the ball.

How concerned are you guys in redraft?  Alshon was an absolute target vacuum last year and he is not getting the looks this year.  No TDs yet on the year.  Kevin White is now set to miss several weeks with an ankle injury.  Great matchup in Indy this week but my expectations have dropped considerably from draft time to now.  Thoughts?

I've been targeting him for trade in every league I don't own him.  He's a great buy low candidate.

Hoping he blows up this week so I can sell him. No one wants to pay WR2 price for him with right now since he's been trending downward.

Roto..

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Bears players expect Kevin White (ankle) to miss an "extended period of time."

White's 34 targets is top-15 among receivers after four weeks, but he's turned them into just 19 catches for 187 scoreless yards. He had appeared to be making some progress with Brian Hoyer under center, but White will head back to the trainer's table where he spent his entire rookie season. In his absence, the Bears will hopefully get Alshon Jeffery (25 targets) more involved. Cameron Meredith will be the No. 3 receiver behind Jeffery and Eddie Royal.

Roto..

Alshon Jeffery is averaging just 6.25 targets per game this season.

Across his previous three seasons, Jeffery averaged 9.46 targets per contest, so he's definitely seen a reduction in his workload. Beat writer Brad Biggs cites Jeffery's health as a factor, saying the receiver hasn't been close to 100 percent the past two weeks. But with Kevin White (ankle) now out an "extended period of time," the Bears should look Jeffery's way more on the outside.

It's the offense.

This is content but I think it's ok: 33 of Hoyer's 36 passes were within 20 yards of the line of scrimmage. Versus Detroit.

With White out, you would expect more passes to Jeffrey, but dopey weak-armed Hoyer will probably send more passes to Miller and Royal.

I watched the All 22.

Alshon didn't look as gimpy as I expected (he always looks lazy), but it's obvious he was commanding the double team and Hoyer took the path of least resistance.  A few of the biggest plays came when Alshon took the attention of the safety and Royal or White snuck into an empty zone, one in particular was Royal's 64 yard catch. 4th quarter was worthless since Chicago went all in on running out the clock.  Alshon gets open on comeback routes and I'm sure Cutler would have forced the issue a few times.   Hoyer also plays it conservative and doesn't attempt the deep ball much.  Alshon could have had way better stats with a QB and offense interested in going his way.

FWIW, earlier this week Rich Hribar mentioned on twitter that Hoyer has a really strong propensity to throw to the right side of the field, I believe only Carr was favoring that side more. Not sure where to find the exact numbers but apparently White strongly prefers playing on the right side. Maybe Jeffrey gets to play on that side more going forward? Believe Hoyer was something like 46% right vs 22% left.

I have only watched 2 Bears games but this fits what I have seen as well.

Anybody thinking of trying to trade him? Or is his value to low right now? I'm having trouble telling what his value is these days? I have J. Jones, Marvin Jones and Alshon and only start 2 WR, no flex. I was thinking of offering Alshon for C. Michael. Is that a fair trade or lopsided one way or another?

I wouldn't worry too much. A great WR (which he is) will get his regardless. The biggest loss is Cutler as a QB. Cutler just throws the ball and doesn't GAF about turnovers. He also has a trend of having tunnel vision for his #1 WR.

Hope Cutler comes back soon if you like Alshon.  Hoyer is a bum and has zero deep ball or enough common sense that you can just throw it up to Jeffrey most of the time.  No feel for the game

I would be very worried as an Alshon owner if Cutler doesn't come back

Finally caught a deep ball, must have been wide open hah...Please get healthy Jay, I have diabeetus meds to help if you need them
The thing is, I don't think Cutler gets this job back from Hoyer.

Just saw the highlights on NFL network. Apparently Jeffery was WIDE open in the end zone on the last play of the game, and Hoyer didn't even give him a look. They showed Jeffery flipping out on the sideline, slamming his helmet. Perhaps there are  going to be some changes this week. Hoyer didn't even look at him on several 3rd and long situations where he was open.

That was pretty much consistent in the entire game.   Hoyer almost never looked in Jeffery's direction.

So many times he was either open or had one on one coverage, including near the goal-line, but this idiot Hoyer didn't even look his way. He rather force it to someone else. It's ridiculous.

Yup and when he did it was almost always a success. They have to make it a point to get Alshon more involved going forward. This is ridiculous.

I seem to recall Hoyer doing that for every number one wide receiver he has ever had. I could be mistaken and probably am. But this frustration with Hoyer seems familiar.

Granted I am glad it played out that way as I played against Jeffrey but wtf was up with Hoyer? Alshon deserves more looks when he is single covered all game.
