I've posted in a few places and this thread. I think Alshon is a great value for the rest of the year. The lack of TDs was flukey and I put more on Hoyer than Jeffery. Cutler should improve his fantasy stock for the home stretch after the byeTranslation: great call
Hmmmm...While he plays Madden in the lockerroom during halftime, right?
Cutler connected deep to Jeffrey once in each of the first two games. Both times he underthrew Jeffrey for what should have been long tds that ended up as just long catches.Strange because the Bears haven't thrown deep any all year
My post was in response to the previous post. Why was Alshon running deep routes when Hoyer couldn't and wasn't throwing it deep?Cutler connected deep to Jeffrey once in each of the first two games. Both times he underthrew Jeffrey for what should have been long tds that ended up as just long catches.
Good moveI just shut the game off. That last flag did it for me. I'm so tired of these refs influencing outcomes of games with these penalties that don't have a damn thing to do with the play. I'm beginning to despise the NFL.
Pull back any trade offers you have pending.Possible 4-game suspension for PEDs?
If I were him, I wouldn't. Get it out of the way, and give prospective new employers a full years worth of games next season.Appeal?
Doubt he will. He will want to make sure the suspension is 100% over with this year and not go into FA going to miss the first couple games with his new team if he has one.Appeal?
Possibly, but apparently Marquess Wilson is due back this week alsoBump Merideth?
Raises? Doubt that. I think it just becomes more likely that CHI lets him walk. Only takes one team to overpay him after that. Do you think he somehow is retained by CHI?Agree, if anything this raises his stock significantly
I assume he's joking about your response which he'd be right about.Raises? Doubt that. I think it just becomes more likely that CHI lets him walk. Only takes one team to overpay him after that. Do you think he somehow is retained by CHI?
only if you need the roster spot and are fighting for playoffs. Not sure why any playoff team would drop him as he returns for semis.Anybody dropping him in redraft?
I wouldn't fault anyone who's not prepared to plug in Jeffery in a "win or go home" scenario. In my league he's averaging 12.5 ppg and most of the contenders have better options...only if you need the roster spot and are fighting for playoffs. Not sure why any playoff team would drop him as he returns for semis.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/11/17/bears-dont-seem-sympathetic-to-alshons-supplement-excuse/Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery is suspended for the next four games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, which Jeffery says is a result of taking a supplement without realizing it had a banned ingredient. The Bears don’t seem to be very sympathetic to that excuse.
Coach John Fox said a player who’s been in the league as long as Jeffery has been in the NFL should know by now that it’s absolutely unacceptable to take a supplement without first checking to see whether it has any banned substances in it.
“Everybody in the building . . . educates these guys,” Fox said, via the Chicago Tribune. “So especially a veteran, they have heard it 400 times.”
Bears cornerback Tracy Porter said reading the labels is part of the job of being a professional football player.
“It’s just like an extra homework assignment,” Porter said. “You really have to pay attention to the ingredients because even one thing that’s put in there could give you that positive test.”
And tight end Logan Paulsen says he takes nothing without checking to see that the National Sanitation Foundation has certified it as not being contaminated with banned substances.
“You go to a gas station and you’re hungry,” Paulsen said. “There’s a protein bar there — not NSF certified. You have to be really careful.”
Jeffery failed to take the necessary steps, and it will cost him $3.43 million this year and potentially more in lost earnings next year if teams are hesitant to take a chance on giving him a big contract in free agency next year. Failing to read the labels was a costly mistake.
I agree with you 100% on his performance. He's been fine. The QB play has been a horror show. Bottom line though, his stats aren't coming through. I have him in 3 of 8 leagues. I'm holding for now as I just don't see anyone on the WW worth it, but I would cut bait if there was someone that could help me now at any position. Luckily, I'm not in that spot yet.I sometimes wonder if people are actually watching Jeffery play or just look at the numbers. Jeffery is not struggling to play well, he just isn't getting the fantasy stats. Hoyer did not get the ball to him enough and he performed well with Cutler other than last week. Jeffery would have done just fine if Cutler didn't play one of his worst career games.
Jeffery is not sitting out due to injury, he's out due to suspension which means he will be in perfect shape to start when he comes back. If anyone is dropping them I expect you to have a great team with a solid bench. I can't imagine he last on waivers long. I hope people in my leagues drop him so I can pick him up because he could be a huge help in the playoffs.
That's a much more sound reason than what others have given. There are specific reasons for dropping him that make sense, the other reasons just seem like overreacting or just lack of knowledge.I agree with you 100% on his performance. He's been fine. I would guess that most people only watch a few games a week or the Red Zone channel, so they mostly see stats. A lot of people miss the context of what is happening. That's a much more sound reason than what others have given. I'm sure I'm guilty of it too but as a Bears fan I have watched Jeffery plenty and know that he's a top 12 WR talent. He's just being handcuffed by his team this year.I would guess that most people only watch a few games a week or the Red Zone channel, so they mostly see stats. Not to go off topic, but how can you trust Floyd either? He's done nothing all year (albeit hurt his hamstrings a few weeks ago, but nothing while healthy either). His snap count is low. Just last week he was 4th on the depth chart and only made some plays after Nelson was sort of punished for a fumble & drop and when Fitzgerald got hurt.I disagree.
The bears are going to be out of the race and done w/ Alshon imo after this incident. To say he's healthy is great-- but is Alshon ever really healthy? I remember him being a full P in practice and than spent the whole 4th quarter 3/4 speed jogging routes and not getting anything close to separating like 3-4 weeks ago.
I dropped him for Michael Floyd. I like the GB matchup week 15-- I really do-- but Im not about to put my FF season on the line and play him after a month layoff vs a #### defense that already shut him down once w/ John Fox as his coach and probably (hopefully?) Jay Cutler as his qb... Next week in the finals he gets Norman. Alshon has always done better vs the 5'10-5'11 corners he can tower over. Norman is every bit as physical as him.
In one league-- traded him straight up for Matt bryant. In another-- dropped for Michael Floyd. Not too worried about it.
Karma is a #####. lol The odds are slim but it certainly could happen. He's good enough to do it but the odds of you making it that far and the opposing team having him are slim.Welp, I've dropped him and the only way it could possibly burn me is if he ends up starting against me in a Week 15 championship game.
But that could never happen... right, future me?
Feeling pretty good about trading him for Tyreek HIll & a 2017 1st a few weeks ago.In my dynasty leagues people are treating him like Trent Richardson or something...its absurd. He went in the 2nd or early 3rd for reason this year.
