Official Alshon Jeffery - The Bandwagon (1 Viewer)

On the local Philly radio today one of the broadcasters said that this type of injury is a 9-12 month recovery time.  Alshon is only 7 months out from surgery.  So the broadcaster didn't think he would was close to returning even though the Eagles have continually said he was week to week.

Why would they have activated him then?

Ppr 12 team league.  100 bucks a guy.

Start 2 rbs/2wrs/1 te and a flex

Short bench

Mahomes, Rivers

D Johnson, Connor, L Miller, D Lewis, C Thompson

M Thomas, Cole, Gordon, Crabtree

Kelce, Reed

K and D.

Dump anyone for Jeffery?  Love my team at this point and dont want to really mess with it, but cant believe Jeffery is on waivers

Only 15

Just dropped in my league.

Already own N. Agholor, but I'm super WR needy with the likes of J. Brown, T. Lockett, and J. Gordon rounding out my WR corp.

Hoping to nab him for P. Barber.

#Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said WR Alshon Jeffery is cleared for contact. A determination on whether he plays will be made later in the week

While Eagles HC Doug Pederson says “sky is the limit” for the offense he says he does NOT expect them to suddenly click on all cylinders with Carson Wentz and Alshon Jeffery now healthy Pederson says it will take time before they get to where they were in Super Bowl

If this is a standard league I'd consider swapping Alshon for Aghalor.  Aghalor has actually done relatively little in standard leagues and might do even less once Alshon is back.

PPR.

Now that he's cleared for contact I'm really hoping I can snag him tmrw morning.

Well that’s certainly a positive development.

while I’d love to flex him over Cole, I’m favored heavily this week & so I think I’ll let him marinate on my bench until I’ve seen him fully healthy.

I would expect him to be eased back in if he plays.

Alshon Jeffery - WR -  Eagles

Alshon Jeffery (questionable, shoulder/illness) will play in Week 4 against the Titans.

Jeffery's shoulder is fine, but he was a game-time decision after battling an illness all week. At less than 100 percent and coming off an extended layoff, the Eagles may ease him back with situational and red-zone snaps. Owners should wait another week before inserting Jeffery into lineups.

Stat line was good last week.  How did he look to anyone who watched the game?
He looked a bit under the weather. Which makes sense since it said he had an illness most of the week. Hopefully he's over it and ready to go this week. He looked pretty damn good for being about 70-75%.

Where did you get this number from?
My personal observation based on what they said during the week. He was coming back from injury. He was only cleared for contact on Wednesday. Then he got sick with an undisclosed illness that kept him out of practice till the game. No way he was fully ready but he played pretty good. Wonder how he felt Monday.

Alshon Jeffery (chest) wasn't listed on the Eagles' final injury report for Week 5 against the Vikings.

Alshon got a maintenance day on Wednesday before returning to full practice on both Thursday and Friday. Jeffery impressed with 105 yards and a touchdown in his season debut last week at Tennessee, though he'll have his work cut out for him Sunday against All-Pro corner Xavier Rhodes. He's RotoPat's No. 26 wide receiver for Week 5.

Anyone rolling him out there with confidence?

Can't decide if J. Jenkins is a big factor here or not. Has been burned here and there, but also held D. Hopkins, M. Thomas reasonably in check.

Weather could be a factor as well. Hurricane remnants rolling through.

Holding Alshon for weeks 8-15 or so.

Weather and an upset running game and a QB with only a few starts under his belt.  I drafted him as a higher end WR3 for the second half and playoffs.  Tonight looks unpredictable so I am going with a higher floor type player (Edelman and J Howard)

This has a feeling of a low scoring game. Also feel NYG upset.

Don't see a ton of upside in Alshon this week. Maybe 5-50 with a 0.25% chance at a TD. Don't know if I have the guts to throw Gordon in there though.
I don’t have much choice with Mark Ingram on the BYE.

It’s Jeffery or Hogan, and since the Pats have way too many options at receiver & the Eagles have far too few, I’ll take a chance.

That said it’s my Flex spot, so if I get WR3/Flex #s I’ll be happy.

Start or sit, to me at least, is all about expectations.

Most of those articles don’t assign context. One I read (Sportsline) said “don’t expect more than WR3 production” - and I’m thinking, “hell, that’s better than I need, so bring it on!”

Context matters. If your alternatives are also mediocre, start the dude with most upside. And there’s no denying the upsode Jeffery has.

Plus the “Any given Sunday” aspect - what if Jenkins pops a hammy in the 1st quarter? Suddenly Jeffery’s terrrible matchup isn’t so bad. Things change fast in the NFL. Not saying it’s going to happen, but the predictive model used to advise start or sit based on matchup tends to be extremely rigid/static, and football is far more dynamic.

Even the best defensive backs can mistime a route, slip / fall down, or blow coverage. Even the best defensive backs get beat. Maybe a LB or DL goes down for the Giants & their pass rush suffers...peripheral player issues can impact a WR’s stats as much as the direct impact of players like a DB on a WR.

As a Jeffery owner I’ve just got to hope that happens a couple times tonight.

I dunno about “confidence” but I’m confident he’ll provide flex value with upside.

Fearless predictions....floor of 4/62/0, ceiling of 8/110/2

Reality is likely somewhere in between. Jenkins is good, but beatable. He’s fast but not the biggest dude, & Jeffery can win 50-50 balls against him.  And Eli feels due for a 2 Interception game - which could give the Eagles a couple more posessions. Which could result in more targets/production for Jeffery.

??‍♂️

I'm thinking of trotting Jeffrey out tonight, but only because of lack of options.

Other choices include Cooper and Baldwin, and it's tempting to start them both in a game where both Ds have had issues, both have recently been seen/heard from about not getting the ball enough recently (Baldwin being the more vocal squeaky wheel).

It's just hard for me to trust any of these guys, but gun to my head, I just don't think Baldwin's health enables him to be all the way back yet -- he, and Russell, have the most to prove to me.

Either way, this looks like a losing week for me as there are no good choices here.

When I’m in that position I usually go with the guy I’d most enjoy watching play.

eagles/giants is a great rivalry, and they’re usually fun games.

So if nothing else at least I’ll get to watch my player play tonight & it gives me a rooting interest in the game.

smh

Honestly still shocked by his performance.

12 targets. Very efficient with them, and Wentz looking his way in the end zone.

Things will be more distributed in future games, but good to see the Eagles’ O get some juice back and keep the pedal down on the passing game even with an early lead.

Alshon Jeffery caught 8-of-12 targets for 74 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles' Week 6 win over the Giants.

It was an easy night at the office for Jeffery, who benefitted from Carson Wentz's play-making ability on the run. Jeffery had few issues with Janoris Jenkins' coverage. The Eagles' No. 1 receiver is up to three scores in three games since making his 2018 debut. He'll be a back-end WR2 for next week's date with the Panthers.

Kicking myself for benching him!

Silver lining: This is a guy somebody dropped, I picked up, and now feel very, very confident in as my WR2 with WR1 upside.

Short term pain, but long term gain.

Now, Josh Gordon better hold up his end of the bargain.

Great game!  Unfortunately my opponent had Saquon, so I am in a hole.  Really like Jeffery as the #1 option in a productive passing attack.   Solid WR2.

Please tell me you started him.

That’s a big 10-4, buddy!

Over 24 FFPs in my league’s system.

Wishing I had also started Clement, who put up just under 15, but wanted to see how the situation played out, and didn’t want to be over-invested in this game (also own Elliott) in a must-win bye-riddled week.
:hifive:

i think that was the right play. No one knew how the breakdown between Clement & Smallwood would unroll - as it went, Smallwood outtouched Clement but just didn’t do anything - IMO if Clement wasn’t coming off an injury he would have dominated carries. Wish I had him in my leagues - he’s going to be pretty solid. It’ll still be RBBC, but Clement will get the short yardage & RZ touches.

Glad you went with Jeffery - jackrabbit Jenkins shouldn’t be a concern to bigger, stronger WRs.

I’m not sure how he was so effective against Michael Thomas - might have just been that the Saints opted to not risk it & they’ve got enough other weapons that they didn’t need to try. Eagles are a bit limited in WR options, and Jeffrey is just bigger/stronger/faster - he was covered a couple of times, but it was pretty clear that Jenkins was outmatched as soon as he had to hold on for dear life on nag 1st TD.

He also got torched badly on the Ertz TD - completely whiffed, misread the route & struggled to overcorrect.

And Collins is an otherworldly talent, but hasn’t looked the same since his injury(s) last year.

Looking forward I’m not even that worried about JAX. Jeffery will get his. And I’m hoping Clement stays healthy because the run will truly open up the pass for the Eagles - they’re a really effective play action team, but only if the run is respected. Clement can bring that to the offense.

Been debating Jeffery or J. Gordon this week with Ramsey in the mix on Jeffery (although T. White on Gordon is no picnic either).

This may help Jeffery:

A.J. Bouye - DB - Jaguars

Jaguars CB A.J. Bouye (calf) is out for Week 8 against the Eagles.

Who is benching?

Hard to sit him right now.

Fool just dropped Jeffrey in my league.  Couldn't believe it and came here to see if he was injured or dead.  Turns out it's neither, so racing to the WW to put a claim in now.  Need all the WR help I can get.

8 team league?

If no, dumb.

acquired him 2 weeks ago for Burton + a 4th. 16 team dynasty.

Since then Gordon has showed some life and Chubb has become a starter but at least I now have a larger pool to get my starters from
