Official Bishop Sankey - Best RB in the 2014 Draft (2 Viewers)

According to FBO the Titans RBs ran the ball 22% to the left side 57% up the middle and 20% to the right.

The adjusted line yards from left to the right side were 2.53 yards (30th) on left end 3.84 yards (14th) off left tackle 3.6 yards middle guard 3.72 yards (15th) from right tackle and 3.39 yards (17th) from right end.

I would expect this major difference in yards gained on the left end outside of Lewan to be because of less frequent TE or FB support to the left side compared to the right side. From the games I have watched it seems they line up strong right with TEs than they do strong left.

I understand needing to help out the right side in pass protection a bit more than the left side, but the play selection for the running game does not take as much advantage of their strength of Lewan as I think they should.

With CJ under Munchak and Fish, he liked to run off the tackle. Exactly where Sankey likes to.

Under Whis' Steelerish system they often run by the left guard which has been huge Bell and then huge Spain.

RG is probably second most.

IF the G gets some push, it seems the DT/NT always beats the C and gets the easiest tackle

They drafted the Cs and brought in a decent C from Seattle but he was too old and then Looney this year-the effort to improve was there but they flopped.

If they rarely get thru the line-

Sankey and Cobb both hit the G spot and cut toward the C or middle, Andrews cuts outside. (Skip vision they are all predictable.) Sankey and Cobb usually run right into a MLB while Andrews has to get run down by the MLB. He gets a couple more naturally.

FO has taken some flack and rightfully so for not differentiating RG LG and C or at least RG and LG. Their disclaimer bugs me that it's not shown to be statistically relevant

2014 still has some Roos and real fired up Lewan so they're ranked 7th in NFL running LT.

2013, as I said earlier, they are running "left end" and 4.79 ypc is pretty sweet. 4.47 right end is not too shabby either (Dave Stewart)

Right there amidst 2013 if you look they are painfully bad up the middle 29th ranked 3.46 ypc so why would Whis come on and want that? He forced a square peg into a round hole rather than going with what worked.

Also as far as "end" runs, don't forget Stevens. He has been there. Fish and Munchak ran behind him often. Why would Whis n Mularkey change up? Stevens and Lewan, Roos, or Stewart are all fine. Stevens and whomever at RT was well worth a shot.

The other day, I was reading how one team used 6 OL and quit pretending the TE was a lineman. IF you agreed with Whis n Mularkey's thought process, why not go that route too?

Under Whis, neither Roos nor Stewart were allowed to recover n try and resume their career and Stevens was a normal TE not super blocking type. He had bookends when he took over the team. If you reread his comments about Roos after meeting him and coaching him in camp, it's shameful to have not extended him a good faith offer to keep playing.

Most people forget, but when Lewan started with the Titans they had signed RT Oher and Stingily was a longtime valuable backup T who filled in fine at both T spots. Lewan replaced Warmack at RG, he was not instantly LT. Also shows that Whis saw the #10 pick G (which is oh so high) as a problem on day one! and never ever addressed it after that.

Stingily didn't get cut and no one wanted him, he signed with Munchak and the Steelers real quickly. In Munchak's mind, he was Roos and Stewart's backup and a guy that could start. He had 10 or so starts filling in. Whis botched that all up.

So Stewart isn't wanted, then Roos, and Stingily and somewhere in here OL coach HOFer Bruce Matthews too. There's like 25-30 pro bowls combined there. That's an awful lot to throw away when you join a team.

Are we giving up on this guy for dynasty, or do we hope a new scheme or situation pays off?
I think most have left Sankey for dead as a bust as I think a lot of people expected him to be.

To me it is intriguing if Chip Kelly were hired to run the offense with Mariota as this would lead to up tempo zone blocking system that Sankey was successful with in college.

This is what I'm trying to figure out. I still have him rostered in a couple of dynasty leagues and I'm leaning towards cutting bait. Until the new crop of rookies are filtered in though, there probably isn't going to be very many available stashes that will make me drop Sankey. I guess that means I'm holding until the Spring, but he's on the roster bubble for me.

I wouldn't do a thing in deep dynasty. Hang on one more offseason.

He's guaranteed a new coach with Titans or on a new team

Bri- I have read most of your posts on the Titans (as you seem to be an "informed homer") yet you often give a decent unbiased opinion.

Appreciate that.

I must ask this question.........

Many years IN RE-DRAFT I sniff out value on these "non-respected" teams like the Titans, and next year it looks to be a very overlooked team again.

This year has been pretty much a wasteland there at RB, and i don't even know if I owned any Titan AT ALL on any roster, anywhere.

Its these type years (this one upcoming) where there is often value to be found at RB on an organization like this.

In situations like this, you can often get a low end RB2 value or someone that can be a solid part of my own personal "fantasy RBBC" and that works out well since I tend to go WR heavy in drafts.

Simply put- the public often sleeps on these type teams, in the preseason and in drafts since they tend to "stink" for lack of a better term. :D

I know its early, but do you see any RB coming to be a real factor next year in fantasy?

NOTE: It doesn't have to be a monster RB1-ish type talent, but do you see anyone being a semi-dependant RB2 as far as fantasy is concerned in 2016???

FWIW- I had my thoughts on Sankey being on the low end RB2 radar coming into this season, but I stayed away from the situation, and I am damn glad I did. :)

One would think Cobb could be one to watch, and you would think if they ironed things out with Mariota then some RB could be relevant if things worked out. (Cobb might be a good low end RB2, if they committed to him)

Impressive.

Sankey impresses me as a guy that will need a change of scenery to produce.

Cobb is garbage because he doesn't give his all. He isn't committed so the Titans will never commit to him.

Long ago in preseason, he ran well with a FB against 3s and a few of his regular season carries have been good with a FB or 3 TE. By himself, he stinks. This is very fixable and they have a good FB.

He's immature? inexperienced? with the passing game. Looks like a child picking up the blitz and when drifting for the dump off he is behind the QB out of his view.

He must come to the offseason stuff re-dedicated and ready to do anything asked of him. He ought to find one of these retired coaches and positional coaches that work with college players and get some work in the passing game.

If they could do it again, with what they know now, I have no doubt he'd have been on the PS and Fluellen on the main roster.

The rook has now seen Sankey play WR and other spots, Andrews, Fluellen, Fowler...I do think it is very likely he feels foolish in that good sorta way that gives him a kick to come into camp with a better attitude to be a more complete player. I wouldn't hold him or do anything with him in dynasty, let someone else have him. I expect they draft or sign a RB and that makes him a backup. Backups must do the little things too and today he is wayyyy behind all the other backs in those little things.

I would say Andrews and Sankey for dynasty. Sankey does have talent and ability. Andrews plays FB, RB, 3rd down back, slot, KR, PR, ST ace, and this summer added long snapper and backup emergency QB. What new coach isn't going to like that versatility? With a new RB, I think Andrews is a lock for a backup spot. Whether he is 2nd or 3rd depends upon Sankey's talent coming out or not. Sankey has the highest ceiling so I'd go with him in deep dynasty.

On the radio, Webster does NOT sound like he's adding a RB. Most think he's gone, me too, but this catches me off guard every time. They LOVE Andrews, even Lebeau and the defensive guys. IDK if it's poor blocking and still giving it his all anyway or practice performances we don't know of but within the team, they adore the guy. That thing with his dad during intros about midseason was considerable. Webster didn't blink when he got most of the carries not the two backs he drafted. When he messed up it was oops he made a mistake but when Sankey and Cobb do it's the end of the world. There's not a lot of outward stuff to go on that I can point to. If you watch the pressers and listen to the radio interviews, today, they have no qualms about him being their feature back and he is "the man."

I don't believe this because IMO the entire RB corps should be at risk to be cut for their low production. A new coach will watch film and...what? Think they're great? Feel lucky to have them? I do not at all buy what they're selling. I'm very confident they draft a RB in round two.

Monday there may be these thanks for the memories pressers as Mularkey exits and probably Webster soon after. I'd bet $ they mention Andrews in the same breath as Casey, Morgan, Orakpo and other gems. If not there then look for them on the radio as reporters try and get "parting shots" interviews. It'll happen and it is shocking.

I guess you have to keep Andrews and then when the new Gm or coach talks of signing a RB, then let him go. Ya can't cut a starter today in deep dynasty.

Fluellen is still a potential play this week in a thanks for your work on PS type move. If so, he replaces Cobb. This week should be Sankey and Andrews. Cobb not playing 3rd down doesn't bode well for him coming in and playing a lot. Fluellen has the yes coach mindset and has dramatically improved since day one.

For deep dynasty, I'd put it as-

Sankey

Andrews

Fluellen

Cobb

If I had to pick today, next year's team-

New guy

Andrews

Fluellen

Sankey signs elsewhere and Cobb becomes a midseason pickup by some team or on Titans PS

On each McCluster is 3rd down back.

ESPN Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky believes Bishop Sankey "may well not make the team."
Kuharsky is just stating the obvious. The Titans have (over?)invested major resources in DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry, and still have 2015 fifth-rounder David Cobb on the roster. That's not to mention pass-catching back Dexter McCluster. Sankey has showed next to nothing in two years on the job, taking the ball 199 times for 762 yards (3.82 YPC) while catching a modest 32 passes. The Titans' best-case scenario could be trading Sankey for a conditional seventh-round pick.

everyone is picking someone to be cut

PK loves Cobb, doesn't care for Andrews or Sankey so...of course he said that.

Glennon predicted Andrews would get cut because he's too similar to the top 2 without the talent

I think it's Sankey and Cobb cut

I would love to see SD give up a conditional pick for Cobb and Hunter. You would think Whisenhunt had a big voice in the Cobb selection and he is a banger between the tackles that compliments Gordon/Woodhead better than Oliver.

Hunter would also be a better fit in SD as Rivers is willing to throw his WR's open and let his guy make a play on the ball. I think Mariota is risk adverse(which is a good thing, just not a fit for a guy that can make plays on 50-50 type balls). Hunter entering the last year of his contract and is buried behind DGB, Wright, and Mathews(maybe even Harry Douglas who may never die). For that matter I would be excited to them play/develop McBride and Sharpe.

Boy, that would make a ton of sense for the bolts.  Would REALLY like to see Hunter out there.

On this topic, I think Bishop is the obvious man out the door here and Andrews would be my 2nd thought just because he's similar to what would be left but at a lesser talent level (so they say...personally, seeing how they spent a trade and two picks on Rbs lately, I think I would have saved all that and been happy with Cobb and Andrews and gave them a shot).

If I were TEN I would just shop all three as we start having training camp and preseason games and injuries start piling up for other teams. Bishop and Cobb probably have SOME trade value. Even if it's just a conditional pick. I would also think Cobb might be a good fit in DET as both Ridley/Zenner are hanging onto their roster spots by a thread and coming back from injuries. But I will admit I was a fan of Cobb when he came into the league. That was such a good RB draft I felt like he kind of went down the same log-flume-ride that defensive lineman just went down in the last draft.

He was always riding Hunter and wouldn't "let him breathe" so I would guess that's the last place Hunter would go. Sankey would be similar.

I could see Cobb.

The most fitting guy would be Andrew Turzilli. The Chargers have always seemed to have some big fast WR project since Ruvell Martin and Floyd days. He'd just blend right in.

Maybe McBride.

Us Titans fans are ready though- the day Rivers retires, the Chargers will offer their entire team for Mariota. Load up that roster, we need some good players.

I agree but Robinson's plan is to test players(practice or preseason, doesn't matter) and form a decision, trade/waive/keep then move on. One of the issues with the Titans is they didn't have a plan for development of young guys, patience was offered in a way that's difficult to track, and there's a level of tolerance of bad play. There was no plan they'd stick to. He and the coaches worked up a plan. Recently it was said they want to get a long look at Cobb in practice so it's been assumed he's the first test. I'm calling it a test others are calling it an evaluation.

When I think of the Pats drafting those 3 WRs a few years back. None of them really did anything. He's probably dead on accurate. They would all still be Titans.

The thinking is from this point forward they will have definitive knowledge of where players stand in their plan and Robinson can move players in the offseason.

With the RBs, the Titans PS player Fluellen has been almost like Andrews. He's been a gem of a practice hustler type. He learned FB and other positions. Whisenhunt's only plan was week 17 he'd get the PS guys into games. Mularkey didn't do this last year. If they had a plan, something to stick to, one of the three would have been 'out' and Fluellen would have played last year. The flip side is you can't ask guys to give it their all, study, show up early leave late, learn other spots, etc and NOT promote them when the guys in front are ineffective.

Last preseason, the Titans signed one of the best UDFAs (post draft writeup stuff) in Josue Matias. A 3 year starting guard from Florida State. Both he and Spain looked totally fine in preseason with the second unit. The starters stunk. Spain eventually got in and did well. Matias never did.

Poutasi is a disaster of leadership. Drafted as a T and I can even give ya quotes on his feet and all sorts as to why he'd be a good RT. He struggled and Mularkey took over and said he's a G. He never played again. They drafted a G and T and he doesn't really appear in their plan. He's super young. 21? 22? and was just evaluated by "the world" to be a 3rd round T. Is he or isn't he? If he's a G, then where are all the pics or writeups of him getting work at G in practice? The GM is gone, the coach is gone, the line coach is gone, but still...what is the deal with him? From a playing standpoint. He got manhandled by Watt(moreso than what Watt usually does) and they didn't give him a chance to come back, show what he learned, improve etc.

So as you can see they're in disarray and Robinson was probably very wise to say he wants evaluations and plans for players moving forward

It has come to this:

Bishop Sankey on the Titans' chopping block

A Titans staff member told third-round S Kevin Byard that Bishop Sankey's number was available.

Byard wore No. 20 in college, the same number Sankey has worn his first two years in the league. Teams often have players share numbers when the roster is expanded during the offseason, but the top players usually get their number all to themselves. After the Titans traded for DeMarco Murray and drafted Derrick Henry, Sankey is clearly no longer a highly-valued asset, and it would be a surprise if he survives training camp on the roster.

I think I mostly had this one right from the beginning. This guy is Tashard Choice/Donald Brown all over again. Not fast/explosive enough to make big plays in the NFL. Not big or powerful enough to be a banger. I think he can stick on a new roster. He doesn't appear to be starter material though. I think he would've shown more by now.

Matt has him as his 10th best running back in this draft.

Is it possible to get back that 19.95??

In all seriousness though the RSP is a great read with some nice analysis...

But I think that he is missing the mark big-time on Sankey!
Looks like somebody missed the mark ... but it sure wasn't Waldman.

I don't know.

He's got way more talent that those guys. He's quite an athlete. I remember that flip video predraft. It wasn't all that special (looks like a summer type catch a ball fall into pool trick to me) but then there were stories of him doing this N that in college. https://vine.co/v/M6XzjiqwFIE

Upon Whis' arrival, no WRs did well. Wright was so exciting and so shifty quick teams didn't cover him but let him have a 5 yard pass and then nailed him with a big hit. He went from 94 catches and 1079 yards all the way down to 36 for 408 yards. Pathetically Hunter only caught deep and red zone passes in a limited role as a rookie, yet was more exciting than the two years under Whis.

I don't know and we should know.

The one (lone) thing Whis did teach all his young players is the importance of studying. I found it interesting that they all show up to offseason weightlifting and a day or three later DeMarco is on the radio saying how Andrews and Sankey are helping him with the playbook. They got it the same day he did.

Last year you saw Hunter learn all three WR roles, Sankey knew all the WR roles too, as did Andrews who one upped them and learned the FB position.

Sankey never got an atta boy but ya know...being late to first camp because he had to finish school and get his degree was a good move. Whis was so displeased he was "missing out" you'd think he missed for some suspension or criminal garbage or somesuch.

In a game last year, the Titans had a couple WR injuries and Sankey filled in. He IS a nice athlete, got a head about him too.

Mularkey called out Sankey late in the year for working so hard in practice. Remember they stunk and yet he was still working hard late in the year.

For me it is surely that he ran tough between the Ts at Washington and did this poorly in the NFL. It's like where's that guy on the highlights? But also, he runs very well (6.? average) around the corners so why wouldn't Whis just call plays there? The best lineman is a T and they have an excellent blocking TE. That wasn't right. All the Titans backs averaged 5.2 ypc with a FB, but the FB only played 8% of plays.

Sankey averaged 6 something per carry week one. Then he was blamed while the whole rushing attack stunk against Cle but after a nice camp it was coming to Antonio anyway once he was healthy. That Cleveland back never saw the field again. Whis sure blew up the run game after a single bad performance.

He's got the good boy thing going for him-intelligence, effort, studying, do whatever is asked, zero off the field issues etc. He has some decent stats (granted you have to look almost too closely to find them) I mentioned above, and he really is a top athlete type. He has sorely underrated receiving ability too.

I'm a big believer in confidence. Whis didn't allow any rook or 2nd year player to have it, dopey misunderstanding of 'don't rest on your laurels' theory. Sankey on a new team, or Sankey with a new coach, I think it's very possible he surprises. Not many teams use a FB often, but if he can go to one that does (or the Titans actually do) I'd think it's relatively likely he has some success.

The "right" injury to a Patriot and I wouldn't be surprised if BB calls Robinson. The way they run around the corner(since Martin was there 100 years ago) and all the passes they throw to the RB, sometimes a FB is in- that's a nice offense for him, a nice match too. That he could occasionally play WR "for kicks" is a nice extra for BB too.

After drafting Bishop Sankey as the first running back selected in the 2014 draft, Ken Whisenhunt seemed to be displeased with how he ran between the tackles. In college, Sankey had vision and beasted through the interior of the defense. In the NFL, he has looked uncertain and relatively often ran into a “human wall.” It was disheartening and very likely the entire reason they drafted Fowler. Surely an undrafted free agent like Andrews was not “supposed to” beat out a top RB like Sankey, but he did. The plan stayed and it was working…until Whisenhunt abandoned everything and overreacted.

Late in that Colts game, down by two points (33-35) with one last play, the Titans gave the ball to Fowler to “punch it in” for the winning score. The left side of the Titans line allowed penetration by the Colts defenders and Fowler had nowhere to go. He turned back to the right, back pedaled, turned again, back pedaled some more and lost roughly 30 yards.

Fowler would never get more than eight snaps under Whisenhunt from this point forward. Klug wouldn’t receive any more offensive snaps under Whisenhunt. Tight Ends coach and Assistant Head Coach Mike Mularkey was said to suggest a switch to the two and three tight end offense. As you now know, Whisenhunt would be fired, Mularkey would take over, and the Titans season didn’t go well.
Titans: Run game outlook for 2016

So I assume that Brewtown is long gone, or has resurfaced under a new name.

I dug Sankey big time. Was hoping he'd pan out... now it's pretty clear he needs to go elsewhere to matter, even as a backup.

Pretty sure Brewtown is still around.. just under another name now.

Some things I have learned from this Sankey experience.

Try to learn more and pay attention to RB footwork. This is something that Wis said a lot in regards to criticism of Sankey. I am still not sure how to isolate and evaluate a players footwork, but it is something I am trying to learn more about, Maybe at some point I will be able to see what Wis was talking about.

Vision is very important. I did try to look for this and I thought Sankey showed average to good vision and understanding of the defense. I looked at this extra hard because of Waldmans comments about Sankey not being a good fit for a zone blocking scheme (which I still don't understand as this was the main form of blocking Sankey was successful with) with him saying maybe Sankey would do better in a gap blocking scheme (something the Huskies did run  sometimes but not as much as zone blocking). Anyhow this is related to a players vision and Sankey seems to be lacking in that area.

I recall he did improve his yards after contact, but this was a weakness identified by myself an others of Sankeys game in College. He didn't improve enough to win more playing time.

What I did really like about Sankey was his agility and ability to make guys miss or give them bad angles. Sankey has a variety of moves, such as the jump cut, spin move and I value elusiveness very highly. So this was the main strength I thought Sankey had as a prospect, with decent speed as well being the two main combine indicators for RB success. He lacked power, but agility is more important to me than power is.

Something I have not tried to look at in isolation is balance. This is a mixed bag from Sankey. He shows good balance at times, but other times he does not. There was one play in particular where he was picked up by a defender (something you don't want to see) and the defender slams him back down to the ground, Sankey lands on his feet and somehow spins out of the tackle after he landed. A example of good balance imo but also bad pad level for Sankey to get lifted up off the ground like that. A bad example was Sankey actually running free to the second level, he gets low expecting a hit from the defender, then stumbles and falls to the ground. The defender was back pedaling. If Sankey could keep his balance and control he may have been able to make this defender miss and continue gaining yards on the play. Instead he slips and falls down in front of the guy to be patted down.

So balance and footwork are two traits I think Sankey lacks that I need to pay more attention to when watching RB prospects.

Titans coach Mike Mularkey praised Bishop Sankey's performance at OTAs.
Sankey was phased out of the team's offense last year and now finds himself on the roster bubble with newcomers DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry expected to get most of the carries this season. However, Mularkey has been impressed with how Sankey has responded with his back against the wall. "Bishop has done some good things out here," said Mularkey. "It’s amazing the good competition that’s taken place at this position with two new backs. Everybody’s game has stepped up." Even if Sankey avoids getting cut, his role in the offense will be limited.

He didn't praise him at all. "He's done some good things out here" is ordinary.

Mularkey isn't shy about compliments. He gave Sankey some last year. This isn't one of those times

Yeah, this screams "say some good things about the guy to get his confidence up so he has a good camp, therefore making it somewhat possible that we can get a 5th round pick out of him" all over it.

I watch every presser I can. Titans have had the best site for a long time. AFAIK they were the first to let fans watch pressers all the time. When they added the app to the mix, I probably missed 3 in like the last 2 years.

What I'm saying is, I saw Mularkey talking (in video) and it was very matter of fact.

Once you get watching pressers you realize some reporters mess up the flow, like a conversation. It can be Casey is great, Morgan is great, how is that backup tackle from timbucktoo doing? Like wha? Ask about a backup tackle while talking about good D players?

I don't fault them. I've been a reporter at pressers. He wanted to get a Q out and needed an answer. Watching though is like 'ahhh you killed the flow there man" and I wish they didn't.

The last time he spoke of Sankey, sincerely on topic, was how he is now competing with McCluster.

No idea if that means he is "just" a 3rd down back and no longer a feature back. He can surely compete for 2-3-4 roles.

Also FWIW, the tone with Cobb has been negative just like last year at this time. I didn't like his demeanor (sad almost) and mindset in the video where someone questioned him at his locker. Last year though he was primadonna in spring-ouchy my hammy hurts and not studying. He got to work in camp. He grew up quick, which is probably normal for rooks. He can (last year) overcome that and contribute but ...if anyone this early seems out of the race for a backup spot it's Cobb.

No one ever made a team in shorts or OTAs but I'll also point out PK in his periscopes was always saying Cobb over Andrews. He no longer sticks up for Cobb.

The "feel" of him being gone is there.

Sankey graduated late and couldn't join the team til he was done with school. He didn't really have much time with the ones or the playbook.

This, right here, is the guy they drafted

It's really just a running back doing his thing. The Titans have messed up the development of plenty of young players under Whis and this isn't before Whis "got his hands on him" but it's close to that.

I bring it up here because, he really looks different

ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss mentioned Bishop Sankey as a running back that could potentially interest New England.
The Patriots have good depth among pass-catching running backs, starting with Dion Lewis and James White, but they could be in the market for a between-the-tackles runner type with LeGarrette Blount coming off injury and entering his age-30 season. Sankey seems destined to be gone from Tennessee after the Titans added DeMarco Murray and rookie Derrick Henry this spring.

Bishop Sankey was "mostly at the back of the line" for running back reps at Titans OTAs.

Coach Mike Mularkey insisted Sankey did "very well" with his opportunities, but there may no longer be a roster spot for Sankey in Tennessee. DeMarco Murray, rookie Derrick Henry, and change-of-pace back Dexter McCluster have jobs sewn up. Sankey will fight Antonio Andrews and David Cobb for the Titans' fourth running back position, assuming of course that Tennessee keeps four.

From Titansonline-

Sankey praise

Running back Bishop Sankey received praise from Mularkey after practice.

“I saw a lot the last couple of plays in the very last period,’’ Mularkey said of Sankey. “I thought he hit the hole really well, had good vision through it, hit it fast and there was no delay.

“It was better than I’ve seen in the past years to be honest with you.”

Sankey’s reps have been limited behind DeMarco Murray and Henry, but he’s contending for a spot.

“Bishop is bigger from when he got here,’’ Mularkey said. “He’s put on weight, muscle weight, and he is definitely a different style runner in this camp than I have seen. He is hitting things. There is no hesitation like he’s had.”

That was the best run of his career. Heck that was Barry-like to go left, no middle, nope let's somehow hop to the right instead. I was amazed.

One play doesn't change the world but he just guaranteed he is getting a chance on his new team, not just signing and sitting.

I would kinda like to see this guy get a chance on another team.  He clearly isn't going to get another one with the Titans, not with the talent in front of him now.

the endzone view is far more impressive than the 50 yard line view people are sharing this morning

Redskins?  -  They could use another option...

Patriots?  -  Is Dion Lewis really that talented?  Or just in a good situation??

Colts?  -  This could be a great landing spot.

Panthers?  -  Stewart is old - CAP is nothing special

49ers?  -  Chip coached against Sankey...

Do the Titans just outright release him?  Does he have any trade value?

Late last season, Mularkey said that Sankey had really put the work in in practice and was going to get some time. He was asked if he was going to be the lead back and he replied that's the plan. (Something like this, not word for word) Then Cobb started week 17 and got just about every carry.

This week Sankey was praised early on. Andrews did well last week too-running and on special teams. Mularkey said Sankey would get time with the ones in this preseason game. WOW that's a huge deal from 7th RB to time with the ones. On Friday, he said they plan to play Cobb with the ones to evaluate him since he sat last week.

No idea what the deal is, but that's twice Sankey earned it and they gave it to Cobb.

Some highlight runs might give him value or another team's injury. Really think a 7th or release, the value is low.

He's a very good guy. That's part of why he went first. It'll also be why he's scooped up. Wyatt even called him out for being a good guy each of the last two weeks.

I think for the Titans it will be Cobb is a swing for the fences type. They could have a special runner but he's clearly worse than Sankey and Andrews as far as being a complete back. Andrews is hard-nosed and a different style than Sankey. I imagine each fit better with some teams.

David Fluellen is totally in this mix. He has even been ahead of Sankey and practiced ahead of Cobb and Sankey many days. He is "right there." Reporters mention him but fans are discarding it. He worked his way up. If they didn't sign Henry and Murray, he'd be quite the topic.

I would not be surprised if a numbers crunch means they keep none of the three and put Fluellen on the PS. If they waive those three, will there really be a team signing Fluellen too? He could, then, be activated if a RB gets hurt and won't take up a roster spot. With Murray, Henry, and McCluster, the other back was likely inactive some weeks anyway. Plus their FB is a nice receiver and decent runner. A fourth runner might get 4 carries at most a game. That could easily go to the FB.

The problem as I see it is the WRs. Far down on the depth chart it's going to be special teams and "extras" that helps someone make it. Douglas made a very nice block last week(DGBs was better but...whatever) and has been with this staff on other teams. He's got the veteran presence. I mentioned Andrews on ST. McBride looked pretty good returning. This week two DBs will be the return men. TZ has been a good gunner since last season. I'd like to see him return kicks with his speed but he doesn't have any wiggle. They have two DBs Sims and Reed which would totally normally be kept in prior years as developmental types, but Robinson has said they're not doing that anymore-everyone must be able to contribute. All of these guys are (to a degree) competing for the same ST spots. Sankey and Cobb are not. This is why I think they're gone unless they look studly.

Is it safe to say that "There is no way" that Sankey is going to be on the Titans?  He got NO RUN today...

i think he is a goner...
He played

He had a 3 yard run the Panthers owned but he had a nice spin to get the 3 yards.

a 6 yard catch, maybe two, and then an easy catch he muffed over the middle

Andrews and Fluellen didn't get carries.

Andrews was in on ST a lot made a couple tackles, was the man up in front of 2 return guys and then late was back with Henry as KR

Sankey over those two is something...something

He played in the absolute garbage of garbage time...

When I posted he hadn't.

He is going to be waived or traded...

A new start might be just what he needs...

My guess is that Sankey will get another chance in the League and won't have to head to Canada...

Colts

Redskins

Panthers

Patriots

49ers

Eagles??
