Anybody have any reviews or good experiences with a smoothie blender?
We have a Ninja...it's pretty incredible with what it can handle.  It also has other attachments to make it into a food processor etc also...we got rid of a lot of tools and saved a lot of cabinet space buying it.

Around 500, leaning Japanese Gyuto preferably damascus. Right now leaning Yaxell, Shun or Bob Kramer Henckel. Any other recommendations?
My favorite knife is a Nesmuk Janus. I have more than 20 Shun knives and the Nesmuk is my favorite blade. I have an F. D-I-C-K on the way.  This one.  Not sure if that is going to get past the language filter. I'm not trying to be profane. The name of the brand is F. **** knives. They are a German company. My newest knife though, is not really for everyday use. But it's really cool none the less. Not quite a Hantori Hanzo, but....

I know Ninjas are one of the top brands and will pulverize ice with no problem. I don't know if there's a cheaper alternative of similar quality. But Amazon usually has a good deal around the holidays on Ninjas. Got them on my watch list.
I got a deal on 2 from a company called VM Innovations - it was a 1400W and it came with 2 - 72 ounce pitchers and some 20 oz mixers - extra blades and cups. At $99 each - it's been one of the best things I bought for Christmas ever. Got one for daughter. You have to be on lookout on the deal type sites and they pop up. They are a bit noisy and sometimes you need to run it 2-3 cycles depending on what you put in the smoothie(dates mainly) - but the pitcher is great where you make a batch for the day.

Nice ham slicer.

Not in the market for a new TV myself. But I did just read Consumer Report's December issue where they rated TVs.

The LG OLEDs basically dominated every other set.

Ended up getting this TCL set - it received glowing reviews, and I just know my little kids would end up inadvertently destroying any TV I spent $2k+ on.  At that price I can justify upgrading again in a couple years when OLED is cheaper and is more likely to survive in my house.

I found this article pretty helpful in the TV buying process.  It's being updated as new deals come out.

I had an LG 55" set with legs like that.

My granddaughter knocked it over and smashed it 6 months in.

Strap it to the wall imo.

Our new Samsung has a much sturdier stand but will remain strapped , maybe forever

I bought 2 Deebots last year and have been nothing short of trash, even after they replaced them.  Awful.

Sound bar.  Not looking for anything great here.  This will be mostly for the kids upstairs.  Anything would be an improvement over crappy tv speakers.

Bass Pro shops has a 12pc. Wustoff set for 149. Amazon has it 179

Wustoff is a very good brand, but this is their Gourmet (value) line. You are getting German made knives for a very good value, but they are not professional level.

You can do 90% + of all your cutting with three knives: chef, boning and paring. I highly recommend the two linked for quality/value combo.

For the chef knife- a ton will be on sale for xmas and there are tons of good ones. I'd recommend 8".  SHope the sales
Those are stamped and not forged.

Posted this in another thread but I'll say it again.  Do not buy a refurbished or returned soundbar.  I made this mistake at Best Buy in their "good as new" returned merch for a deep discount.  Normally that's fine but the soundbar had intermittent bass issues which Best Buy could not confirm with their diagnostics stuff.  Had to go to the manufacturer which was a nightmare.

If it's for the kids upstairs, wait til after Xmas for the best deal I would think.

Sorry for the 2 star attack, bad base for me but my best option to get 3 stars.  Too bad adian sucks.
Yea he's taken a huge hit to his mystique. I guess it's to be expected when you take a year off and come in cold dropping hogs.

2 stars better than no stars GB

One of the kids wants a gaming laptop. Trying to keep the budget at about $500 because she isn't that hardcore of a gamer and will likely just want it for the Sims games and all their expansion packs.

We need to pickup a new TV at some point so not sure if I should pull the trigger on a black friday deal or wait until OLED starts coming down in price.  I'm finding it hard to resist these giant TV's that are only around $500.  Saw this deal on Slickdeals for a 70" VIZIO E70-F3 4K HDR Smart HDTV + $200 Dell eGift Card for $750 with free shipping.  Looks like there are cashback/ rebate opps that bring that down another 10% or so.  Any issues with this set?  Any better deals out there for a TV this size?

Looking for a Fitbit 2 I think, around $100 and an instant pot.

Opinions on both?
We gave my In-Law's an Insta-Pot for Xmas last year (got it off amazon slightly chearper than everywhere else) and they actually gave us one too. We both love them.

For the blender crowd, bought my wife a Vita-mix from Costco 3 or 4 years ago, still going strong and we use it almost every day for smoothies.

Following.

Looking for a phone for my 16 year old.  He is currently on my Motorola Maxx and that will probably get passed on to my 11 year old.  Was hoping 2 find something out there on the pixel 2.  Wife and I have had good like with our pixel 2 xl's, but I don't see a need to go with the pixel 3 at this point.  Any other good durable android phones out there reasonably priced?

I got that recommended razor yesterday for $130.
Thanks for the heads-up.     I've only ever used the low to mid priced Norelco shavers.  I'm due for a new one so I guess I will give this a try.

I just bought that same TV from Costco on Friday for $730. Only a couple days in, but so far great for the money.

This is what my gf got.  I thought it was the stupidest thing ever.  Then I had a frozen margarita with lime and started purring like a walrus.  Now I’m a true believer in blender technology.
We have a Blendtec too and love it. We started making healthy smoothies but now mostly use it for margaritas and daiquiris'

Then Anova pushed an update to their app that requires you to pair your kitchen appliance with your facebook profile. I'm not kidding here. You need to link your facebook account in order to use your kitchen appliance. I mean, i'm looking at my blender and my pressure cooker and they seem to work fine without needing access to my social network.

I read the above review.   I was tempted but don't want to link it to all of my social media.

What happens if you don't have a facebook account?

To use it? I never use the app, is it anything more than a timer?

It is true, but burn in is real, it absolutely happens on these sets and LG's response to the consumer is go #### yourself. It is a better picture than the Samsung QLED, which in reality is just a top notch LCD. In a situation where you have kids or a wife that might just leave a screen paused or walk away from it on numerous occasions, it is worth the Samsung QLED.

We've had a Blendtec for a few years, good for smoothies or skis or iphones.
This.  Blendtec is solid and their warranty coverage is great if you need it.  I had a small issue with the gasket on the pitcher and they replaced it with an upgraded version no problem.  Buy it from Costco and you'll have Costco warranty on top of it.

Actually, it's not as bad as plasmas are and I've never had an issue with my plasmas
