Official Brandon LaFell - I just... LaFell in love. (2 Viewers)

Rotoworld:

Brandon LaFell secured 4-of-7 targets for 29 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' Super Bowl 49 win over the Seahawks.

LaFell's biggest play was an 11-yard TD catch in the second quarter, beating replacement CB Tharold Simon. It gave New England a 14-7 lead. An offseason free agent signing, LaFell finally realized his potential during his first year as a Patriot, recording a 74-953-7 receiving line. Assuming the Patriots don't add a big-time talent at wide receiver this offseason, 28-year-old LaFell should again flirt with WR2 stats in 2015.

anyone else buying on Brandon LaFell?Looked very good the first 2 games. QB is chucking the rock. Getting a fair amount of targets.Could be a fantastic WR3 going forward with WR2 potential all over it.
Great call, Rizz

What do we think this season? Dynasty? Redraft?

Guys like Sig think hes quite undervalued, and I also agree.

Thoughts? Guy gets no love/respect. SB winner, folks. Big game player.

he basically didn't play the first two weeks. Pro rate his numbers and you get about 1100/8. If his competition doesn't change he could put up solid wr2 numbers at a deep discount.

He had a total of 57 yards in the CC and SB and was WR25 the 2nd half of the season. Wouldn't give more than a late 2nd for him.

Rotoworld:

Brandon LaFell did not participate in Patriots OTAs and has been seen getting around with a protective boot on his foot.

Don't expect details on LaFell's injury considering the Patriots' secretive nature. The good news is LaFell is missing time in May and June, and not August or September. We'll be monitoring this situation, but suspect LaFell will be ready for training camp. LaFell is a value at his current mid-ninth-round ADP. The 28-year-old finished 2014 as fantasy's No. 21 overall wideout.

And, you know, a great catch for the first touchdown of the Super Bowl, but yeah, yards.

Think we have another WR2 year from him or is he just going to regress back to his Carolina self?

Brandon LaFell - WR - Patriots

ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss suggests Brandon LaFell (foot) could open the season on the reserve/PUP list.

WEEI Boston's Chris Price suggested the same thing earlier this week. The Patriots provide no details on injuries, and LaFell's has been a mystery since he showed up at spring practices with a walking boot on his foot. If LaFell isn't ready to play in Week 1, Jimmy Garoppolo's three-wide set would presumably consist of Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, and Reggie Wayne. Not ideal.

Sounds like a lot of people are going to LaFell out of love.

I believe he isn't allowed to practice while on PUP, so that's not particularly relevant. Though I could be confusing that with IR designated to return.

You are not allowed to practice while on the PUP but can do rehab with the team trainers/doctors. They can attend meetings and watch practice only.

Commencing on the sixth calendar day prior to a club’s seventh regular season game (including a bye week) and continuing through the day after the conclusion of the 11th regular season weekend (November 24), clubs are permitted to begin practicing players on Reserve/PUP for a period not to exceed 21 days.

If the player is not restored to the Active/Inactive List prior to the conclusion of the 21-day period, and the club elects to continue to carry the player on Reserve/PUP, the player shall not be permitted to practice or to participate in team or in during the remainder of the season, including postseason.

Players on the Reserve/PUP List may not be traded.

It's relevant because the guy isn't likely to be ready to start come Week 7. He may be healed, but he'll have had little to no field practice, no reps, etc.

I'd like to roster him now, but bye weeks are tough to get thru without churning the wire as it is. It is optimistic that he will be ready in week 7 or so. I don't know if BB will plug him in without a requisite number of practices. And even then, it will take time for him to get back up to speed. The payoff could be very nice, if he hits the level of production he had late last year. I think I'll let someone else burn a roster spot waiting for lightning to strike twice. Of course, I burned a roster spot all last year on Josh Gordon and that didn't pan out how I'd hoped.

Fair enough. I thought your point was that he's still not healthy enough to practice. That may or may not be true.

If/when healthy the Pats plug him back in on the outside. Dobson SUCKS and the Pats will need someone on the outside to stretch the field. I liked him last year and he paid dividends and can see him picking up where he left off IF 100%.

I dont see him actually playing until week 8 or 9 so IMO its too early to try and stash him.
Yeah I think I got 3, 3 & 5 players Weeks 7-9. Week 11 is another I got another 4 on a bye including 2 of my 4 WRs so I gotta get a little bit lucky.I might stash DGB first & see if his snaps/utilization keeps rising. But if you got room for him now is a great time to stash LaFell.

Probably not gonna happen for me.

Can be activated this week, would likely begin practicing immediately, he has been practicing unofficially for two weeks now. I think he is ready to go.

No guarantee he suits up Sunday against the Jets but BB did say he'll probably practice this week. I've heard nothing but positive things about his recovery. Added him last week.

LaFell has been warming up, stretching, and running with the team for a few weeks and conditioning on his own. Said to have been better for a few weeks. Expected to be practice today and play against the Jets. Saw video of him running and he looks fine. May be on a snap count or used situationally. Should know more after today.

Good. I was getting a little concerned about the Patriot's ability to score points. Maybe this will make Tom Brady startable now.

LOL..

Geez, what an embarrassment of riches.

Like everything Patriots, LaFell will be match up dependent. If the Pats sense a mismatch, they will target him all game (unless the defense adjusts). Last year, he had some games with 4 or 5 targets and others with 10-13 targets. And as we all know, some games they can just decide to run most of the game (although that seems less likely this year).

The only Pats player that is a constant is Edelman, who will usually see at least 10 targets a game no matter who the opponent is. Gronk is always a good fantasy play, but some weeks he is only a really good human and not a super hero.

Rotoworld:

Brandon LaFell (foot, PUP) will resume practicing Wednesday.

LaFell's 21-day clock to be activated starts Wednesday, so he should be back either Week 8 or 9 after missing the first six weeks of the season. LaFell should be owned in all formats after putting up borderline WR2/3 numbers last season. When LaFell returns, it should mean less action for Danny Amendola.

I disagree with Rotoworld's assessment that LaFell will be back in Week 8 or Week 9. From what I have heard, he's been ready to go for weeks, has been conditioning to stay in shape, and has had no side effects from his injury. By rule, he could not participate in practice until Week 6 came and went. I expect him to be activated for this week. With three days of practice until Sunday, I think they will have him work on game plan plays for the Jets. I don't expect him to be in on every offensive play, but I think they will have packages of plays that he will be in on. I don't see anything to gain by holding him out for another two weeks.

Had the same thought as soon as I read that. I thought I read earlier in the week that he could possibly play this week. I have a feeling if he doesn't have any setbacks, he's active this week. How much he plays is anyone's guess.

The #Patriots are activating WR Brandon LaFell, source said. He’s off PUP. Should help their offense immediately.

:)
Sweet! Just traded for LaFell. Also have Brady and Gronk in another league. LaFell will keep the defense honest even more as Brady picks him apart. Gronk's value spikes up a tad even though more mouths to feed? Wonder how Edelman's finger will affect him this week? Brady trust him?
