How did Axl magically regain his voice?  From the last clips of him live that I'd seen (a few years old I guess), he sounded like dog #### and was ridiculed for being so fat and sounding so bad.  Can you regain your voice?

Oh. Maybe I'm wrong, but he looked overweight. That's all. Just an observation.
Axl has put on 50 pounds but Slash looks the same.  He was wearing a cut-off shirt and he's ripped..  the guy plays non-stop for 3 hours (he never takes a break), he is sweating like crazy standing under those lights.  He honestly looks great for a guy who has abused his body the way he did and is now probably 50 years old... if I look like that when I'm 50 I'd be shocked

I read somewhere that in his later years he has started to become more careful with his voice.. doing stuff that 'normal' performers have done to keep their voices intact (not smoking, drinking tea, not abusing their voices in concert, not screaming etc.)

I saw them live a few years ago with Bumblefoot at Roseland and he was good there, too..

He used to sing incorrectly and doing that can temporarily or even permanently damage your vocal folds. That high shrieky singing he's known for is not good for keeping a voice intact for a tour so I imagine that he'll either minimize how frequently he does that throughout the night and/or they will spread the dates out a bit.

as for T-Mobile arena, we had a great time.  The beer was ridiculously expensive and they stopped serving at midnight which just seems odd being that 1) we're in Vegas and 2) it's Guns N' Roses, midnight is like 9pm

but the venue was awesome otherwise, it helped that we had floor seats and then were able to get up front when our seats were confused and the guy working got us up front instead..which was just awesome.  It actually felt intimate but being about 30 feet from the stage will do that..

Axl goes through a couple of wardrobe changes but otherwise is on stage the rest of the time which is different than before when he would go off for 10 minutes at a time when Slash was soloing..

They really didn't do much to feature the other guys in the band but Duff got a couple of punk songs and Slash was featured heavily.  There were even points where they were featuring Richard Fortes but the camera stays on Slash's guitar..

The Sebastian Bach thing was super cool, he brought some energy which Axl sitting on the throne just couldn't do physically.

there were also a lot of cool shots of Slash, Duff and Axl together like when they did the Floyd cover around the piano with just the three of them..

Patience sounded good.  The vid did remind me of how much I hate all of the tool boxes holding their phones up through the whole concert.

Any other news on Axl taking over for Brian Johnson in AC/DC?
I don't see this at all.. he is on a huge comeback tour for a band who will sell out just as easily, if not more easily than, ACDC.. assuming the boys can keep it civil, this will be something that he won't walk away from..

:goodposting:

I walked out of The Police reunion thinking 'I wish I saw them then instead of having to endure that'

I remember when I started my current job, March of '99. Within a couple of weeks, the music conversations with co-workers had started up. Those conversations led to 'you should come see REM with us this summer'

My memory of REM live will always be 3rd row, smaller venue, Work Tour.

That memory wasn't going to be ruined by seeing them sing crap like 'Shiny Happy People' and 'Everybody Hurts' while sitting on the lawn at some big, sterile, 40,000 person capacity outdoor venue.
police reunion show was pretty great IMO

Yeah, this is a cash cow.  The biggest rock act in ages.  No way you walk away from this for ACDC.

I'm sorry Axl that this offended you.

saw GnR last night at Ford Field for the tour opener and can't say enough good things about how good they sounded.  Slash is the man as always but Axl was as good as I've ever heard him live.  Great show, a couple of stinkers thrown in, but overall a lot of stuff from Appetite and UYI.  Highly recommend any GnR fan to see a show on this tour.

Alice In Chains warmed up for them and sounded incredible as well.  lead singer does a pretty good Lane imitation when he needs to.

Went to the show Wednesday in Cincy & it exceed all expectations. They started on time  , Axl sounded good, they played for 2:45 (26 songs) & for the cherry on top Adler joined them for 2 songs. It was the first time he's played with Axl since 1990.

Anyone on the fence should go!

I'm surprised folks are digging it, I have been unimpressed with the Youtube videos, some filmed semi-professional and shows in their entirety are streaming.

That said, I enjoyed listening to Slash and from the vids, he and Duff seemed serious and focused on the audience. Axl, the whole weight thing is throwing me and he kind of comes off cheesy.

The problem is we jumped form 30 years old to about 50+ and we didn't get to see them age slowly over many albums like U2 or any band that has a release every couple years.

Plus the closest show to South Florida is going to be Orlando, saw them with Metallica there many moons ago, saw GnR few other times as well.

I'm glad some of you are loving it, it's tempting but the videos I have seen don't look that amazing.

And from the set lists I've seen, I think like 7 or 8 of them are covers. Granted, they don't have that many great songs to fill up a show that long, so playing covers is the way to go.

AfD with slightly extended riffs and Slash solos could easily fill 75 to 90 minutes alone.

I'm partial to a lot of songs without the words Sweet Child and November in them but also understand many of the folks who will buy tickets mostly like those 2 songs and a handful of others like Paradise City and W2J. I would like a set where none of those songs I mentioned were played   ;)

They need to drop This I Love from the set list. From what I saw from the Adler clips looks like they've gotten better since Coachella. Thought those Coachella shows were awful.

Otis and Righetti and two of our GBs going to see them in two weeks at Giants Stadium. In the meantime, we have two spare tickets. Maybe we should make them available to two FBGS to join us.

Where you sitting? I think this is the Detroit show, it's not top quality, mix of good and bad recording. This is better than Coach, would not have been hard. Rose looks part drag queen in some of these songs, keep the hat on bro! The voice is still there, he makes Coma sound better than it has any right to.

Detroit 6-23

I'm not wild about the set either but they are using those songs as tweeners and builders before they cruise into Civil War which I'm OK with but the show slows way down and it takes a while to get going again.

That could certainly lead to some old school Otis level stories.

The sound in the arena was much better than whatever is being used to record this.  Yes, you will have to get used to a fatter, uglier axl than 30 years ago.

i would have been opposite side, a little further down the side.  I'm telling you and everyone thinking about going, you will not be disappointed unless axl goes off the rails between now and then.

My friend and I are on the fence about getting tickets. If you were looking to sell em lmk how much, what seats and which day and I'll let you know

I get that some ejaculate to all of Appetite... but for me that has always been an album with a really good Side 1 and a mostly forgettable Side 2, except for the really good Rocket Queen and Sweet Child, which I am not a fan of, but I get why it's huge.  And given their current set list, they obviously think much more of Side 1, too.

You shut your whore mouth! My Michelle, Anything Goes, Think About You, and despite my barely tolerant level of Sweet Child it''s still their biggest hit and one of the all time biggest hits in music ever.

But yeah outside of all that and then throw out Rocket Queen(easily one of their best ever) and it's just a forgettable side. We are going to agree to disagree because I know most Gunner fans consider this the superior album from front to back. Vol I and II are very polished but the rhythm and soul don't hold a candle to AfD, imho.

The Cincy show was 26 songs with 4 covers (Live & Let Die, Attitude, Wish You Were Here (instrumental) & The Seeker).  If they were playing for only 2 hours with covers I might have issue but at 2:45 that's a long show.  Take out the 4 covers & they're still playing longer than most bands these days.

Are we not counting Heaven's Door as a cover now? ;)

Got me. Forgot that one but it doesn't really change my point. Take out those 5 and it's still 21 songs & 2:15 or more in time. I didn't feel short changed hearing GnR songs. Plus the Wish You Were Here instrumental was pretty cool.

Agreed on the Wish You Were Here performance.

they also cover Raw Power from the Stooges, a song they did on Spahetti Incident.  Duff on the vocals.

take the Chinese Democracy songs out and Coma, insert My Michelle, Patience and One In A Million and it would've have been an almost flawless set.  They didn't do anything off of Lies for some reason.
