Official CJ Spiller (2 Viewers)

I prefer they use him 10 to 12 times a game in the right way, then 20 times a game they way they were using him. I am not a big Bill follower, but does their offense not allow a couple of screens, a few draws and maybe some off tackle runs every game? Would it be so bad to have him and Jackson in the backfield at the same time and then have one of them motion out to the slot? Then a defense has to wonder if they are looking screen to Spiller in the slot or hand off to Jackson or vise versa.

From what I've seen, Jackson gets the passing downs and screen plays, and they force Spiller between the tackles (which almost always results in Spiller trying to bounce to the outside and running east-west instead of north-south). It's all bass-ackwards in Buffalo if you ask me.

Yep, you nailed it.

If Spiller would run it the way it's designed, the big plays will come naturally. That's what he did in his big season (ran well inside) and for some reason he's forgotten what he did or how he did it.

too many blows to the head from running inside?

Rotoworld:

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports the Bills plan to get C.J. Spiller more involved this week.

Spiller played just 12 snaps last week, and was benched for most of the second half after losing a fumble. It confirms an earlier report that the BIlls want to keep feeding Spiller, and have no plans to reduce his workload. Spiller has potential to have a big game against a Vikings defense that's allowing the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs. He's a high-upside RB3/FLEX.

Rotoworld:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Cowboys had interest in trading for C.J. Spiller last season.

Spiller's going to be a hot name over the next 7-10 days with the trade deadline coming on October 28. The Bills don't know how to use him, the Cowboys could be looking for a dynamic change-of-pace for workhorse DeMarco Murray in preparation for a playoff run, and Spiller is in the final year of his contract. With the news that the Bills want to feature Spiller more Sunday against the Vikings, it could be taken as GM Doug Whaley trying to "showcase" Spiller.

If they really have no belief in him and are open to trading him then why would they get him more involved? The chance of injury, the fact they don't know how to use him and his performance would suffer, would all drive the price down. I have very little confidence that they will use him properly and then trade him, and if they used him correctly with Jackson that would be a scary backfield and this would be a possible playoff team.

Looked like dislocated shoulder? Also looked like he was sobbing under that towel. If not for pain, maybe because of blown opportunity that I'd like to think he's been dying for.

Yep. When you cover your head with a towel, you're done for the season.

Rotoworld:

C.J. Spiller was carted off in Sunday's Week 7 game against the Vikings with a shoulder injury.

He's been ruled out for the rest of the game. Spiller was injured on the end of a 53-yard run in the second quarter. With Fred Jackson also leaving earlier in the game, the Bills are now down Anthony Dixon at running back.

Rotoworld:

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the initial diagnosis is a broken collarbone for C.J. Spiller.

It's terrible news for the Bills, who also lost Fred Jackson to a groin injury on Sunday. If true, Spiller would likely be sidelined for at least six weeks. Buffalo is down to Anthony Dixon as their only healthy running back against the Vikings. Bryce Brown should be active for the first time next week and is a must-add in all formats.

has anyone ever been carted off the field in a sobbing heap of a mess for a f'ing broken collarbone before???
Yea that was weird. Honestly I think my 8yo cried less when he broke his last summer.
Yeah that was weird to watch but the injury probably cost him a 7 figure number which is the far more painful part. Maybe he was crying about that. Think about how much time and effort these guys put into a career and how much money is at stake. The table was set for him and it lasted one play. Victor Cruz cried his eyes out too and he already got paid.

Bills announced they signed former Cowboys RB Phillip Tanner and placed CJ Spiller on IR designated to return.

Interesting that Spiller got the designation to return, no?
Not really- he isn't eligible to return until week 16, so they were running out of time to use it.
That makes sense. I thought it was a 6 week designation, but either way, I guess you might as well use it "just in case."

As a Bills fan, I'm really happy that Spiller will have one more shot in a Bills uniform... hopefully this includes a playoff run too, but at least he'll get a couple weeks to audition for a new contract - either in Buffalo or elsewhere.

You realize that this just means he's eligible to return, not that he's definitely going to be able to?

Yes, Ace, I do. Thanks for caring.
