Craziness, insanity. OK.

Michigan State was the better team today. They were more physical. If not for the pick 6, Michigan State wins this game by 10 points or more. But its one game. Stanford has been a very physical team all year. I believe that, given 10 games, they would be more physical than MSU a majority of the time. Just my opinion, but it's not unreasonable at all.

Some of you are acting like what we watched today was like the mismatch between Alabama and Notre Dame last year. It was not. These two teams are very close. I happen to think that Stanford is better.
Whereas, MSU has been some sort of powder puff up until today.

I'm fine with anyone thinking Auburn is better, but it's damn close based on these numbers and what you saw from Sparty vs Ohio and Stanford. Definitely not worth an
I have no problem with people :lol:ing about a hypothetical matchup.

But anyone who would think Stanford would win seven out of ten after watching that real game they just played is insane. Stanford's biggest mistake that game was an interception 45 yards downfield from the line of scrimmage which was around their own 30. MSU was still 80 yards away from scoring after the turnover. It was essentially just a long punt. Wow, what a devastating mistake.

MSU on the other hand made mistake that cost the easy points and gave Stanford easy points. Yet Stanford still wasn't good enough even with those gifts to win.

That was a sloppy game by MSU, based on them having one of the best turn over ratios in the country this year. Stanford would only have a chance to win in games where MSU plays even sloppier. According to Tim, sloppier games than that one by MSU will happen in 7 of the next 9 games against Stanford. Whatever!!!

Maybe if MSU could play better defense then they would be a more physical team. Oh wait....

A mismatch? No.

But clearly the better team won. If it was Stanford that made the costliest mistakes in that game, then you could argue that MSU got lucky and beat a better team because they had a bad day. But that didn't happen.

What you are suggesting is that a more physical Stanford team would show up. Okay, you've got me there. If stronger and faster Stanford players show up in future games, then yeah, they could be better. This however is just another one of your theories that fails in practice.... Because the same Stanford players will show up again next game.

Somehow my sports analysis never receives the respect and agreement I've come to expect on a regular basis in political discussions around here... :kicksrock:

Probably already been discussed, but did you guys see the two great catches Gamecock Bruce Ellington made earlier? That guy might have made some money today.

Probably? By now we would have dropped his carcass off in the middle of nowhere. They wouldn't be able to identify him with dental records

You think Stanford is better than MSU when they just played about 2.5 hours ago and MSU won the game! You give intelligent conversation a whole new meaning

Whereas your idea of intelligent conversation is beating people up who disagree with you?

I think Virginia Tech is better than UCLA. If not for those 30 extra points UCLA scored those teams would have been dead even yesterday.

To be fair to Tim, H2H matchups aren't always the best indicator. The best team doesn't always win. However, MSU thoroughly dominated Stanford on the defensive side of the ball that I'm not really sure how you can say Stanford is better. Not like they were a ton of fluke plays and the flukey turnovers hurt MSU more.

Stanford took its strength against MSU's strength and lost.

I think Champion Baptist College wins 7 out of 10 against Southern University in college hoops. Sure they lost by 104 but give me ten games on a neutral court and I think Champion Baptist College is the better team

And it's not like it was a game with a lot of crazy plays or bad calls that influenced the game in MSU's favor. MSU dominated Stanford.

I think it's funny that so many NFL teams are drooling over Art Spurrier. Baylor is gutless.

smart, innovative, likeable, knows how to win despite working from a disadvantage...but his teams play sloppy, inconsistent, and soft. It's weird.

LOL. Shaggybevo was creaming in its collective pants about Briles to Texas before this game. 42 minute of football later, he's the biggest idiot ever to win a conference title.
