New Mexico Bowl is first game and that should be a fun one. Orange, Hawaii, Music City and Capital One Bowl all look like great match-ups. Potato and New Orleans Bowl are on TV and you can gamble on them, so that makes them better than an NBA game.

I predict drunkenness.

Most of my friends don't do much for NYE, but instead hang out at a bar all day on the 1st.

Less than two hours away!!!! Four games today but the worst one will wrap up the night. I can't believe I'll probably watch ULL/Tulane, :bag:

What a stupid penalty by Colorado State, as dumb as they come. So instead of Wazzu punting, they get a 1st down at the 25 and then a TD. Ooof

I think Dr. D has some of these date/times wrong. Gator Bowl is Noon eastern on NYD. Usually the Rose Bowl is 4 eastern or later.

I cut and pasted from ESPN. The spacing is off, the correct time is AFTER the listed bowl for each.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl :towelwave:
Just put some :moneybag: on your Bison Even money.

Like I was saying, first team ever to be excited about playing in the Potato Bowl.
It's the Bulls not the Bison, but I will let it slide. I do think they'll show up to play today, but I know nothing about SDSU so I have no idea how they match up.

If anyone's watching, keep an eye on OLB #46 Khalil Mack. Barring an injury or a bad combine, he's a top 15 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. SI and CBS 1st team All-American, USA Today and AP 2nd team. RB #32 Branden Oliver will get an NFL look as well.

Oh yeah, Bison is the AAA baseball team.

San Diego State is hit or miss, I'm not sure I saw a worse played game as I saw when they played UNLV. They are decent on both sides of the ball but they make a lot of mistakes.

In classic mid-major football tradition, UB blocks SDSU's FG attempt, gets the ball back, then SDSU blocks the UB punt. Good football here.

Cannot wait to hear his post-game explanation. Because there isn't one. Dumbest coaching move I've ever seen.

EVER.

What happened? I missed it.
Wazzu had the ball with 2:00 left. CSU was out of timeouts. Three kneel-downs and the game was over.

They fumbled on the play before, and it was overturned. Then they didn't need to snap it until 1:25, but they snapped it immediately instead - from the shotgun - and fumbled AGAIN. Of course, CSU goes right down and scores, AND gets the 2-pointer, AND they fumble the ensuing kickoff.

Comical beyond belief.

Leach should never coach another game. On any level.

Tell me why I'm wrong.

:lmao: all you want to. But tell me why I'm wrong.

A coach who can't figure out that three kneel-downs wins the game is a coach who shouldn't be in charge of a Pop Warner team.
It was the worst bit of coaching that i've ever seen. You literally lost the game for your team. If they fumble the kneeldown, fine. But to not expire the clock and instead run fumble off right tackle, that doesn't happen in Pop Warner.

How does time expire in that situation? WSU picked up a first down with 2:36 OTC. Clock stops on a first down. 25 second clock begins after the ball is spotted. So they wait until about 2:12, snap, take knee. Say that takes three seconds, it's at 2:09 when the 40 second clock starts. So they snap again at about 1:35 and take a knee, the 40 second clock starts at 1:32. They snap again at about 0:55. There's still about 12-15 seconds OTC when they have to snap on 4th down.

Yeah, snapping it as quickly as possible and running a play was a much better option.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have milked the clock. But it's a tempo offense. And if you still need another first to run the clock out you may want to maintain some sort of rhythm.

The announcers said they didn't need to run a play, so I'm taking them at their word. I wasn't counting seconds.

But even if you have to one-step-punt with under 10 seconds left after taking 3 knees, it's an impossible situation for CSU.

McShay just absolutely destroyed Leach.

BTW, they snapped the 1st down play at 2:05. Even if they needed to snap it on 4th down (there may have been less than 0:05 on the clock), they could have snapped it to the QB in the shotgun. He runs around for a few seconds.... game over. No punt needed.

After the QB fumbled the non fumble, the clock was stopped up at 2:01, or 8 seconds less than your estimate. Of course hindsight is 20/20 but couldn't you kneel it on 2nd/3rd and run out of the back of the end zone for a safety on 4th down, worst case scenario? They snapped it 4 seconds after the "non fumble" which is inexcusable given that they had no problem running down the play clock the drive before.

Can't believe Fresno almost made the Bcs. Yuck.

But then Baylor is going to do the same thing to UCF.

McShay also mentioned something else I had forgotten about. Wazzu could have gone to the locker room up 35-20 at halftime. Instead, with under a minute left, and on their own 21..... incompletion, sack, incompletion, punt. CSU gets a FG just before halftime. That FG was the final margin.

Leach blows.
