teeeeeechnically....I woke up my wife and we went last night at midnight. I knew that the events of yesterday would wake up all of the less informed people and causing a rush to the stores today.

Zero Risk BiasExactly. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.
And now that we're connected more than ever with people tweeting pictures of the empty toilet paper aisle, it's accelerated even more.
No they don’t. Busy idiots.JFC, our client is essentially the city of San Francisco and they just sent out an email saying they will consider temporary work from home for certain employees. You have to fill out this 5 page form detailing out what you will be working on, when, what your home work conditions are like, and it has to be signed by 4 supervisors. What a waste of time. Do you trust people you hire or not?
It is absolute bedlam out there, folks. It's Black Friday at Walmart meets Disneyland. I don't know how else to describe it. The streets have run red with blood.Anyone who waits until the weekend, will rue that decision.
In general, no. You want to have as little moisture in the bag as possible. the exception to this is if you intend to sous-vide the item later.Anyone with a chest freezer ? Should I marinate before vacuum sealing then freezing ?
Yeah, we stocked the pantry pretty full two weeks ago. I went out at 7am today to top it off. Glad I did.Felt like an idiot being at the grocery store at 6am this morning. From reports I've heard, I'm glad I stocked up.
Ours didn't open until 7 but I was the 2nd person in the parking lot - only 5 minutes before opening. I expected more people tbh. I grabbed some final cold stuff that will expire if not used in the next 2-3 weeks and grabbed one more thing of TP and some cleaners. Now wish I had gotten some more meds.Felt like an idiot being at the grocery store at 6am this morning. From reports I've heard, I'm glad I stocked up.
I stand by my earlier prediction.I predict every man, woman and child in the US will eventually get it!!
oh i love Publix subsPublix in the middle of Tampa is almost completely normal mid-day today. Stocked shelves, no big crowd.
Found the same at my Publix - just missing the hand sanitizer, but everything else stocked including TP.Publix in the middle of Tampa is almost completely normal mid-day today. Stocked shelves, no big crowd.
Professional bowling will go on as normal too.Sounds like the brits are not cancelling soccer. At least for now. So we'll have something to watch!
That was my experience and we had our first case in the county announced yesterday. I thought it would be crazy.Publix in the middle of Tampa is almost completely normal mid-day today. Stocked shelves, no big crowd.
Reading the actual certificate booklet of one of my STD groups (covered by a very large and well known insurance company). There is a section about a "quarantine benefit rider". "We pay a benefit if you" are not disabled; and are quarantined due to an infections and contagious disease."Not likely. Generally you have to meet your plans definition of disability to receive STD benefits.
It’s beyond weird; it’s a complete misunderstanding of human condition, needs, and interactions. I’d dare say those who are most worried are those who need and appreciate light humor the most. In fact I’ve seen exactly one “person” (quotes due to faceless mod) express concern about humor in the entirety of this thread. That person is on an island with this thinking.A great thing about this community is being able to come here and be lighthearted posting about stuff. This includes humor which is just as valid a coping mechanism as anything else out there. This thread to date has been a great mix of humor and information and it's been working great. This is such a weird take.
yeah, was kinda hard to pin down if the virus did, indeed, strike Vegas ... looks like they've been spared

Awfully nice of them to pay for tests that are next to impossible to obtain.Just got an email from my insurer
No cost for COVID-19 testing for Minnesotans enrolled through MNsure
Just find somewhere else to joke is what he is saying.Yup, you can tell me not to post yoga pants threads or political posts, that's easy. You can't change my basic nature of using humor in most of my interactions.
Watch it before you step over the line, turkey.yeah, was kinda hard to pin down if the virus did, indeed, strike Vegas ... looks like they've been spared
I think he is looking for a table indicating how many days behind Italy are US, France, etc. Someone was overlaying these graphs to give you an idea of where each country would be in the near future. I have seen them several times in the last week, but cannot find any tables now due to the massive number of posts.
Good point. Few will be sous vide but I usually only do S&PIn general, no. You want to have as little moisture in the bag as possible. the exception to this is if you intend to sous-vide the item later.
Mainly I find trying to pull a seal on something with a lot of moisture causes the seal to fail. I try to dry off the items as best I can first.
Really looking for how things are trending in other countries (US included) relative to their case/death charts.
At least that benefits some East Coast/Northern teams. The Tribe is always getting screwed with crap weather at the start of the season. #silverliningIts hardly breaking news when a league suspends operations these days - but MLB has joined the fray:
Jeff Passan@JeffPassan
After a conference call among owners this afternoon, Major League Baseball is expected to suspend spring training. The league likely will delay the beginning of the regular season as well. At this point, it's a formality that ownership-level sources expect to happen.
One near Madeira beach was slammed packed. Couldn’t find a parking spot.Publix in the middle of Tampa is almost completely normal mid-day today. Stocked shelves, no big crowd.
I mean that link has about as good of a summary along those lines by country as you could expect. Given the lack of testing in the US I don't know how reliable this is.Really looking for how things are trending in other countries (US included) relative to their case/death charts.
Maybe they can shorten the season to 62 games or something. Might make the regular season more interesting. At least that benefits some East Coast/Northern teams. The Tribe is always getting screwed with crap weather at the start of the season. #silverlining
The johns hopkins data is public on github.Really looking for how things are trending in other countries (US included) relative to their case/death charts.
Ugh..... was inevitable I guess. Its hardly breaking news when a league suspends operations these days - but MLB has joined the fray:

worse comes to worse...do the "dump and jump" into the shower. We have a little over 100 rolls in the house - 6 people, let's say 1/3 roll a day?? I'm going through 2 rolls a day so I got almost 2 months worth. Very rough math but I feel pretty good on the TP front. I've also got about 60-70 beers. Liquor is another story - I may need to dig deep and just drink the last of the gin, vodka, bitters, moonshine and cinnamon whiskey - if I get desperate. I do have some McCallans 15 year on hand but no rye, no bourbon at the moment.
Need 9 more days.Sounds like the brits are not cancelling soccer. At least for now. So we'll have something to watch!
Almost all of them have reinsurance to cover large scale claims but yes it will be costly. That's how insurance works, really. They collect money and pay out when bad things happen. Here is a sample certificate booklet for a group's short term disability contract. The group seems to be University of Mass. medical school, but the section I'll bring your attention to would likely be identical with any group policy with this carrier.
On page 48 of the PDF...
Quarantine Benefit Rider
We pay a benefit if you are not disabled; and are quarantined due to an Infectious and Contagious disease.
If this gets bad, and thousands or perhaps millions are under quarantine, these insurance companies could go under pretty quickly.
Italy definitely blew up today, but I think we all knew that would keep happening. They are really our eyes and ears for what the next few weeks are going to be like. They are on lockdown, their cases are exponentially rising, but the lockdown should start to have an impact soon. How much of an impact it will have is crucial. I'd predict we have 1-2 more days of explosive growth, then the numbers will begin to level off, but who really knows.Italy crossed 1,000 deaths.![]()
Took them 6h 30m to call me back yesterday75 minutes and counting on the phone waiting to get my flight credited or refunded from Delta.
Just multiply Italy's COVID numbers by the ratio of the populations (US 327M, Italy 61M) and compare to US COVID numbers. So basically multiply Italy's curve by 5.5 and find out where the US is on that curve at the moment.I think he is looking for a table indicating how many days behind Italy are US, France, etc. Someone was overlaying these graphs to give you an idea of where each country would be in the near future. Or Kovid or QuovidWith all this WFH for many people and sports being suspended, I project a HUGE boom in births 9 months from now (December/January).
Watch. Won't be long until Tanner says he has a "Covid" in his class.
Just think of how fortunate you are that this is your worst nightmareThere's gonna be nothing to watch on TV sports-wise. My worst nightmare.
