Saw my first masks on NYC subway on Friday from a couple of Asian immigrants.  Of course, during any flu season here in NY you see some masks from Asian immigrants so not really out of the ordinary yet.  Also, had to go to CVS to pick up a prescription this morning and just wanted to see if they had any masks and they were all sold out.

Give me a veranda, sunlight, a glass of wine, good food, a sauna, a gym, and a place where I can casually eyeball scantily clad ladies by a pool, and I don’t need much else. Never yet had that on an airplane, but when it comes into the market, I’ll consider.
You know they have all those things, like, on land too, right?

Me: Hey guys, I'm going on a sweet plane cruise this week to Japan and London.  Gonna be freakn awesome.

Other guy: Plane cruise?  What's that?

Me: Well, I'm going on a flight around he world to Japan, and then stopping in London, then back to Japan and then back on through to the US.

Other guy:  Why would you do that?

Me: Gonna be rad.  Gonna drink a ton on the plane.  OH and instead of handing out the food, they're just gathering in the food in big troughs on one side of the plane and we go help ourselves.  And we don't have to bother with, like, getting off the plane and then having to check into a hotel and all that crap, we just land, go walk around the airport for a little bit, and then go back on the plane to the next place.  Best part is you don't have to travel somewhere, your vacation starts right when you get on the plane!!
These actually exist.

I'm not usually half glass full, but I'm getting the sense that this won't kill all of us.

If this post doesn't age well please delete my browser history, and put the HDD in the attic in a microwave, thank you.

People do realize cruise ships are HUGE and you can go outside and in a pool,  casino, rock climb, etc right? Can't compare to a damn plane obviously. I'd compare a cruise ship to a moving resort more than a plane.

Why is everybody on this board so terrible at analogies?

Cruises are awesome or we’ve just been lucky. I guess it would be boring if you didn’t drink. I don’t have that problem.

1) I don’t care at all, I don’t own a cruise line

2) that was an analogy a toddler would roll eyes at
Oh, you care. You care lots.

I stand by the analogy. It conveys the point. Which is why you dislike it.

We should have a spin-off thread where dudes defend cruises. And another one where they defend buffets.

You’re the one who wrote two 500-word terrible posts about the topic oats. Don’t point the over-caring finger anywhere else.

Planes are more akin to winged buses. Cruises are more akin to floating resorts. It was a rough analogy. I would spend a week at a resort with no issues, but I wouldn’t Willingly spend more than a few hours on a bus no matter how drunk.

I do care. But I’m not claiming I don’t. I can’t help but fight against such attacks on decency and good taste in this world, wherever they may be.

Or Jakarta hotels, and Planet Hollywoods, and local women?
Oh man, people still go to Planet Hollywoods?  They’re basically TGIFridays except instead of a surfboard on the wall they have a surfboard signed by Keanu Reeves

00:15: China’s National Health Commission reports 441 new cases and 7 new deaths across the mainland. Their locations have not yet been disclosed, except for the fatalities: 2 in Henan province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Shandong province, and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

This is in the bullseye of how conspiracy theories are propagated. And full disclosure, I can be susceptible to them, but have reformed markedly. We have no idea what the baseline emissions are there, and what types of factories or other industry takes place there. Assuming the only source of these emissions is burning flesh by the tens of thousands is going to trigger confirmation bias no matter what the source is.
I think it's the bone that makes those emissions. #funfacts

Smog is common in winter in China. Lots of coal used for heating and generating electricity

I don't know.  Is there still a Planet Hollywood Casion in Vegas?  I just know that local women, Planet Hollywood, and Jakarta was an experience in March 1996.

Given they were reporting 3k a day, it is
There is a shortage of testing materials so there has been a slowdown in the number of confirmed.   Also reports that hospitals/clinics are limited to the number of infected they can report each day.

Turns out quarantine on a cruise ship may not be a good idea

60 new cases on Diamond Princess

Meanwhile, 60 more people have tested positive on a cruise ship quarantined in Japan - meaning 130 out of 3,700 passengers have caught the virus.

The Diamond Princess ship is on a two-week quarantine off Yokohama, after a passenger - who earlier disembarked in Hong Kong - tested positive.

The infected passengers are taken off board and treated in nearby hospitals.

The new cases mean around a third of all coronavirus patients outside of China were on the Diamond Princess.

Quarantining on a cruise ship is only a bad idea if people have been infected after the quarantine began.  The article does not state that is the case.  Finding space on land to quarantine 3,700 people would not be an easy task.  A cruise ship seems like the perfect place to quarantine that many people especially since that is where the people were already located.

What we know is that every infected has been removed on detection.
For the past week she has been anchored ashore Yokohama.
The originally infected person left the ship on Jan 25.
The incubation period is approx two weeks.
Today there have been announcement of additional 60 cases, taking it to 130 excl the original carrier.

Conclusions:
The cases now are likely secondary to the original carriers infection
They are likely to have been infected before the quarantine was effected.
If, in approx one week, the new infection rate falls to zero the quarantining on the vessel will be succesful
