*** Official - Dan Lambskins Top 30 Songs: Girls Names *** (1 Viewer)

5. Fancy - Reba McEntire

i guess you could make an argument that this one is questionable since nobody outside of the Deep South would ever name their kid Fancy, but this is just such an amazing song and I can’t help but sing along whenever it comes on

Time to wrap this up

4. Billie Jean - Michael Jackson

yeah I know he’s probably a diddler and I’m counting Billie Jean as a single name but Michael put out some amazing songs and this is one of his best.  In fact i bet you’re trying to moonwalk right now

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one, but the kid is not my son

3. Lola - The Kinks

yes it’s not about a girl but it’s named after a girl

Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walk like a woman and talk like a man
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola

Angie is great tune and excellent choice on #1.  I would add these in my hipster wanna be top 10

Naomi - Neutral Milk Hotel

Rylan -  The National

Ana - The Pixies

Donna was #25
Damn. I knew I'd screw one up. I did go back and check every page of the thread so that wouldn't happen, but just knew...sorry, mang. Fun list. I did some internet searching and I think you did pretty well. I'm not sure hipsters really name songs after girls' first names. Maybe some, but I can't recall any off of the top of my head besides The Arrivals' "Elise" and Screeching Weasel's "Claire Monet."

I'm sure somewhere there's an Anna that's mad at me. Total hipster, modern urbane name.  Gotta be a song named after her.

See my post below yours. Knew there was an Ana or Anna somewhere.  :lmao:

Getting into the Top 10

10. Buddy Holly - Peggy Sue

back when I was a kid and we’d go on road trips I think we had about 5 different oldies cassettes to chose from.  This song was on there

i think they made a movie about it too (the song, not my family road trips)
1. "Buddy Holly" is by Weezer.

2. "Buddy Holly" is a first and last name.

3. Buddy Holly was a man.

Great choices, all four. These two: I love Cecilia from my youth and do to this day. As for the other, wasn't Cab Calloway the sort of standard bearer for Caldonia? I'll stop speaking and listen.
Caldonia was originally recorded by Louis Jordan, but the BB King version is my favorite.
