I'm with you Pipes. I liked Junior last year. But straight out lying to Elliot after Elliot put him on the crab was just wrong. Total no class move.
Yeah...pretty d-bag move there.

And Jake A just seems to crack too easy and ends up being a whiny biotch.

Whats the odds he is on something? (didn't he have a drug issue at some point too?)

The Junior betraying 2 partners seems manufactured. Jake & Matt getting into it seemed real.

(I would've quoted snogger's post, but this effing new board kept telling me I posted more images than I'm allowed.)

Jake has had a hard life for such a young guy. Even though he was out of hand whiny, I think everything just came unglued for the guy. I don't buy it as show drama because he really winds up and goes after Matt. You can hear that first shot land, though it sounded like more of an open handed slap, but solid contact nonetheless.

Anyway, I think he is "stressed" because he really loves Sig and the guys of the Northwestern but has a burning desire to run a boat. He got an offer to run another boat but I think he was hoping to wait it out and hopefully get a shot to run the boat with Sig. With Edgar getting the nod for the chair, I think he just realized that was never going to happen and it really, really set him off.

The thing I don't get is why pull these antics while on the tv show? If he wasn't on the show he could cry the "he said/she said BS", but this is being recorded and aired on a television show for people (especially other ship captains) to see. He is going to need sometime to repair any reputation damage done for future seasons, unless this is ordinary protocol.
That. Plus the fact that Jake on the NW happens to have a great opportunity to run a boat and goes down in a blaze taking swings at Matt kicking him off the NW. Seems to me that there is a lot of produced drama built into the entire season.
I don't think it is "produced" as much as "It happens".. You go without sleep for 20+ hours, working non-stop, and stuck in confined area with the same people. Sooner or later you are going to go off on a

Happens every year.. But most to go to like Jake.. Then his "I'm under stress because I was offered another job".. ummmm, what?? Getting offered the opportunity you've been dreaming of is "stress"?
the whole Sig and Edgar stuff seemed liked bad acting to me the first couple weeks. Pretty sure Edgar knew he was blue crabbing the whole time, or had a dang good idea at least. Elloit did not seem like he was acting last night, he seemed pretty PO'd. Jake is just a basket case imo....

I don't think the show manufactures drama. I think the cameras make the guys act a little different and there's certainly some creative editing.

Used to hate Elliot and love Junior. Now it has switched. Weird that Junior talks about stealth mode but runs his mouth a lot about how he is doing (just not to Elliot).

Still don't like Keith and I know he's got a blowup coming.

NW could work out perfectly for everyone. Jake moves on to another boat and future captaincy and also secures Edgar's spot as next captain on NW. Win-win and Jake needs to chill. I thought of the drug thing, too. But I think he is just a high-strung guy. Hope he calms down before he captains a boat.

Things look all warm and fuzzy on the wizard so far, including that special moment when Freddy asked Keith to be the Godfather of his kid and all. Can't imagine what his blowup will be over. It can't possibly be another greenhorn using stale bait can it.....

Keith still a huge doosh. Lost a little respect for Freddie, too. But the greenhorn was a puzz anyway. No winners there.

I didn't...that d-bag greenhorn was an ### from the beginning. Looked more like he wanted to get his ### on TV and add drama.

Sucker punched a guy...really?

Thought Freddie handled it well. Could have destroyed that dude.

You got to expect #### to run down hill when you are the newbie. Greenhorn should have sucked it up. But if you are the bigger more imposing dude and you are ####ting on someone don't be surprised when they freak out on you.

I don't disagree. I don't have a prob with anything Freddie did. I just thought he was more of a leader. Disappointed might've been the better word.

Very disappointed in Freddie. Sure the greenhorn should have just got his haircut, but Freddie was going overboard with his hazing.

Keith and Freddie threw a hissy fit over a fricken haircut. I respected both of them until the last few episodes.

I think it was less about the haircut and more about the lack of respect he was showing to the captain and elder members of the crew.

It was not just refusing the haircut...it was him going on about it and calling the superstitions nothing but dumb and the continued "Im not a frat boy" thing.

Dude, should the greenhorn have cut the hair, absolutely. Is it the end of the world that he didn't, absolutely not. Keith and Freddie acted like it was.

I thought the greenhorn was working pretty hard and keeping his mouth shut until the hair thing. Keith acted like a d bag. Freddie, not so much but it was close.

And WTF is the deal with Elliot? Not beating the ice before heading in???? And then acting like a tool when his top guy tried to get him to do it when the boat was listing...and he still didn't???

He has proven over and over that he sucks at being a captain. A good captain listens to suggestions.. Doesn't always have to take them.. But when your ship is leaning and someone with more experience tells you we need to get the ice off you agree.. Don't say "naw, no big deal" and then when it helps get all pissy about it.

The things that Freddie was doing to the kid were well beyond the hazing that a greenhorn gets. He was just being a richard and well over the top and the goodbye squid was just the final straw. Yell and curse at someone to hurry up and do their job--fine. Throw a random squid at a kid who is doing his job is well over the line and I thought that the kid played it well from his end and came off much better then the crew of the Wizard.

Again...thinking there was more to it than just doing that over the haircut.

And seemed more like the others were involved with the goodbye squid over Freddie.

This.

Freddy came off as quite the bully, IMO.

Must be a thing all the cable channels are doing to mess with people using dvr. Comcast lets you record until :00 +1 or more, but then it messes up with your recording of something in the next hour slot. Very frustrating.

As if we are going to stop DVRing shows. Just a nuisance. Surprised the producers of these shows don't put a stop to this. They are the ones being hurt.

After watching the Time Bandit do repairs I went back and saw that show they did just on the Time Bandit and the history of the ship and family. Very cool stuff.

Looks like Keith and Junior have it out next week on "The Bait"
I'm curious to see if they expand on what was shown in the episode. It seems like Junior was the jerkoff but he flips out in the preview for next week. I wonder if there's more to that situation than they showed.

So is the whole Sig/Edgar thing staged? Just very odd the way he upped and left the boat.
You mean Sig leaving to let Edgar take the last trip?? I don't think it was staged.. Sig was losing his mind when they came into the dock..

Seriously thought they were going to bring the straight jacket in :loco:

He realized he had "lost it" also, and figured Edgar wants to run the boat, I need some mind time off so.. have fun Edgar :bye:

I took it more as a hissy fit by Sig because he didn't fill the boat.

Josh Harris announced on The Bait tonight that he has bought the Cornelia Marie. Sounds like he wants to put together a "dream tream" crew as well.

Season finale on now.

This was a boring season... lots of mechanical problems. A bunch of ##### on Captain Keith's boat. Father-son tension between Wild Bill and Zack. Brother tension on the Northwestern. Jake is an emotional basket case. Wash, rinse, repeat.

I have to wonder if Discovery channel isn't bankrolling Josh in getting the Cornelia Marie back on the water just to get some new material.

Agree on all counts. Lame season

Looks like the Kiska put the rest of the fleet to shame.
This isn't the old days where the boats went out and caught as much as they could in a set amount of time. Boats are assigned quotas based on their size. On top of that, the boats can lease quotas from other boats (i.e. Boat A sells their 100,000lb quota to Boat B for the season so Boat A doesn't even have to leave dock to make money) So really, all the numbers mean is the Kiska Sea had the biggest quota available.

Not to mention it is a massive ship. Much bigger than the others.

Yeah, big ship and big crew.

For whatever reason, my DVR was locked up in the middle of it...so I missed the mangled hand (probably glad I did)...it picked back up on Elliot.

Speaking of which...he may be even less likable than keith.

So he was with this chick that he loved....but had a piece on the side.

Lies to first chick...she drops him.

Goes after the piece on the side and all this that he loves here and is going to propose to her...threatens the guy she is screwing with a bullet in the head.

That ends...now he is back to...I only love the first chick.

WTF???

It took place on a non-Deadliest Catch boat. We only saw it because of the Coast Guard camera crew. Didn't really see anything. It was all bandaged up when the CG got him, and stayed that way except for a second at the urgent care facility. Honestly, I think they showed far worse in the "previews" than they did in the actual show.

The x-rays were pretty gruesome.
