***Official Dexter Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I just finished watching the finale last night. I thought S6 and S7 were by far the worst, but I actually liked S8 up until the last 10 minutes. I thought it would have been so easy to make the ending 10x better. S4 was also my favorite by far. John Lithgow was great.

Just watched the final season over the last week or so. Pretty weak exit. I think I enjoyed the first two seasons the most.

Overall a good run.

I was just rewatching a little bit of this, and I finally figured out what would have made the whole series better. They should have just let the ice truck killer get rid of Deb.

She is the most annoying character in the show.

Just finished binge watching the whole series over the last few months.

Liked it a lot and had to go all the way to the end despite the warnings.

I was well prepared for the terrible ending so it didn't hit me as hard, not great though.

I liked Lumen more than Rita.
Dexter's women (in order of preference):

Lila

Hannah

Rita

Lumen

I may be missing some in there, but those are the big ones, IMO.
One thing I could never figure out is why half the male characters were hot for Deb.

John Lithgow certainly memorable as a perfect psycho.

I liked the Lumen season as the bad guys were so despicable, you were dying to see them on the table.

Still like the season with Trinity the best, followed by the ICT Killer. The last two seasons were horrible.

so true.  wife is watching through this yet again on Netflix.

Rita's looks really vary from scene to scene, but she can be unbelievably hot sometimes.

So the girlfriend and I binged season 1-4 last year and I am jonesing for more. Season 4 was a favorite of mine in any show. You guys have warned not to continue but...how could it drop so much :/

I think S5 is fine.  It starts to go downhill after that, but is still watchable.  The last season should be stricken from the record.

S5 is a definite step down from S1, S2, and S4 but still pretty good.  Not as bad as the fall-off of the last three seasons.

Either way, every episode you watch from here on out will take you further from the path of dramatic, meticulous Dexter and down the path of action hero Dexter instead.

Similar to TWD (but worse), if you watch that.

They made her look so plain at times, with little makeup and boring clothes, but her smile was always money.

The scene late in S1 where she visits Paul in jail always cracks me up, since the angle they show her at standing, really highlights the fact that from the neck up, she is wearing a #### ton of makeup. It's like you can see how white her arms, hands, etc. are, while seeing her neck and face as almost orange.

If you enjoyed the show (S1-4) I definitely recommend the books. Only the first book was used in the series as the first season. I always thought the writers needed a good dose of reading the series to re-ground the character. Using them as a launching point would bring back those who enjoyed the first few years.

As an example, the main villain in the second book is a deranged surgeon who sedates and mutilates people to the point where Dexter describes the results as "human pin cushions." It continues to play on the theme that while Dexter is by no means a good guy, that you still find yourself rooting for him against these other loons who are way worse.

I read that the head creative guy left after season 4, and the head writer left after season 5. I think that explains the general consensus that 1-4 were really great, season 5 still held up, and 6-8 were pretty piss poor.

Just to drive you and the gf a bit crazy, when you watch scenes with Debra, take care to look for how her hair is placed.  Seems she had a habit of perpetually moving her hair behind her ears.  In any single scene she is in, the hair can go from behind her ear to over her ear and back again 3-4 times.
