***Official Dexter Thread*** (6 Viewers)

Just saw the actress who plays Deb- seen her a few times in the last year or two, so I'm guessing she lives in the neighborhood. She's tall. Big horse-mouth. But not unattractive when bundled in winterish clothes. Her body on the show freaks me out.
Wow, you look really good when I can't see you!

I don't get the basic plot of this season.

Are they trying to retire Dexter and make Lumen the central character? Or perhaps Dexter stops actually killing and sends Lumen out to do the work?

I don't really buy Julia Stiles as the central character going forward but that's the rumor I have heard.
I can't imagine this could possibly be the case. 98% of the audience would stop watching immediately. Without Dexter, there is no Dexter.

Dexter: I got you some brand new gloves to wear when you murder your first victim.Lumen: Hey, these are the same type of gloves you've chopped 70+ bodies up with!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Lumen: Wow. Those are prettiest shiniest knives I've ever seen!Dexter: Only the best for my girl friends first murder!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Lumen: Does this kill outfit make me look fat?Dexter: Noway, babe. Those look like the perfect threads to murder the hell out of someone in! :(
The premise of the entire show is a little corny if you want to really look at it for what it is. I don't think the Lumen story is any more corny. Rita as a wishy washy, passive-aggressive enabler was a little hard to stomach at times, and yet this is what you decide to nitpick? Yeah, okay chief.
:goodposting:

Lumen is annoying and needs to be killed off. At this point I'd like to see a spinoff featuring Masuka and Robocop.
:goodposting:Robocop goes around unearthing #### on people for no reason and drinking himself into oblivion on cheap Scotch while Masuka hits on 16 year olds and faps to porn featuring Japanese women crapping on surfboards.

I thought I had read/seen/heard that Hall was under contract for two more seasons past this one. Not sure if him having cancer would change what the plan was . . .

He had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which has a very high survival rate. I had testicular cancer and went through treatment cycles with one guy who had it. Most of the treatment is radiation vs. chemo (which is worse, believe me). Michael C Hall is reportedly fine now. (Someone reported "remission" - I'm not as familiar with lymphoma etc - but in my case, I'm "cured" even though a lot of people refer to it as being in remission).

Didn't know about either... glad to hear some actor guy is fine (all things considered), but not as glad as hearing a fellow FFAer is fine.

So he had the good cancer?

What do you make of the scene that seemed to show deb drawing her gun on dex while he was holding a knife?

Clever editing or showdown?

Dexter has just been renewed for season 6.

http://www.deadline.com/2010/12/showtime-r...r-for-season-6/

From the above link:

LOS ANGELES, CA — (December 6, 2010) — As season five of SHOWTIME’s top-rated drama series DEXTER, starring Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe award-winning actor Michael C. Hall, heads toward another powerful, suspense-filled finale on Sunday, December 12th at 9 PM ET/PT, the network has renewed the series for a sixth season. The announcement was made today by David Nevins, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks. Season 6’s episodes will go into production next spring in Los Angeles.“DEXTER is the best suspense drama on television,” said Nevins. “To grow its audience so significantly in its fifth season is an enormous accomplishment by this amazing cast and crew. This is the easiest decision I’ve made since I got to Showtime.”

DEXTER had its second highest ratings ever with this season's tenth episode (Nov. 28), delivering 2.54 million viewers, up 43 percent versus the season five premiere (1.77 million). The telecast was the second-highest delivery in the series’ history, behind the season four finale (2.57 million).

Wow, thats impressive. :lmao:

Not that I really cared about the Santa Muerte storyline but it's just silly how they dropped it out right. Kyle Butler too.

:goodposting: I"m sure the FBI witness-protection guys were like "Oh- that was Kyle Butler- material witness to the most diabolical serial killer in US history?... whatever".

That Batista has some serious range.

Laguerta: "We need to get some coffee up in this #####."

Batista: "I'm on it."

Laguerta: "Someone needs to get some info on this Kyle Butler. We can't have the press find out we dropped the ball here."

Batista: "I'm on it."

Laguerta: "I'm lonely, Angel. See you later tonight?"

Batista: "I'm on it."

They do that clever editing thing every week. It basically means the opposite of what you think it does.

Um, what more did you want from the Santa Muerte storyline? The killed the guys who did it at the club. Case closed.

That was a disappointing episode.

Didn't we just do Dexter chasing the serial killer who may harm the love of his life to end last season?

And Robocop storyline doesn't really add much to this season at all, what was the point of it? Yes I know the body is still out there and they made sure to go out of their way to show HEY EVERYONE LOOK, HIS BLOOD'S ON QUINN'S SHOE!##!

Dropping the Santa Muerte killings makes no sense. Were they just a device to create the Deb/Laguerta tension?

Dexter kills another "innocent" person, and apparently was willing to kill Quinn to save himself.

Also, where the hell is Deb living these days?

My analysis: yes. That story line was probably the low point of the series. They had always made Laguerta unlikable and politically motivated before, but that was just too much. None of it made sense.

:kicksrock: The whole Quinn situation was ridiculous. It was crazy how causally he was just going to murder an innocent detective...one who his sister is in love with. In season 2 he was ready to turn himself in, rather than kill Doakes.

Robocop is a pissed off cop who just got kicked off the force, who's made a bunch of angry phone calls looking to make a "big bust" so he can be a hero, get his job back and win the respect & praise of a city... but no one will listen to him about it, signed out equipment under false pretenses to go on an undercover, off the books mission on his own, and I'm 90% sure that next week, we're going to learn Robocop and Dexter surprisingly wear the same boot size. Mainly a prop, no real point but to make a nice triangle of people who know both of the "real Dexter Morgan"s.I'm also getting the feeling Dex may have to kill Quinn and Deb may have to kill Lumen before this is all over.

Deb's "appreciation" of the vigilantes makes me think she will find out that Dexter is behind it but give him a pass. She won't know about all his other kills.

Maybe I missed something or I'm forgetting something, but I didn't have any inkling that Trinity would kill Rita until he got back to the house. There was no point at which I thought Dexter was chasing him to save Rita. This is more like Season One when he had to save Deb from his brother.

Didn't Trinity visit Dexter at the police dept and say something along the lines of "hello Dexter, of 1234 Willow Way"? Did I make that up in my mush of a brain? And didn't that happen an episode or two before the finale... which is to say, they told us Rita and the kids were at risk before the final scene. Or I completely don't remember this. But yeah- Deb lives where?

Yes, but that was like one episode of worry.

Yeah, I should clarify, I actually liked the Robocop storyline, I just don't like how they seemed to marginalize the whole thing with the way things played out this week.

Yes, but that was like one episode of worry.
Right. It was a kind of generic concern, but it was never a "race against time to save someone" type of scenario to my recollection. That was Season One. I know I was totally shocked by the ending to Season 4, and I recall that most others were as well. Here it would only be a shocker because they'd be killing off his love interest two seasons in a row.

Dex knew his family was in imminent risk; isn't that why the kids were with the grand parents and Rita was supposed to be on a flight to someplace else? Dex wanted them out of there fast, and then he would join her after finishing Trinity. But Rita came back home and that's how Trinity got her before Dex got him.

So no one was annoyed by cutsy scene of lumen and dex planning the attack on chase? It really annoyed me. But all in all a good episode.

I see chase killing lumen, hurting dexter badly, clearing him, and either getting away, or deb killing him. With quinn either dying as well or being saved by dex somehow.

Pretty much all the Lumen scenes annoy me. Here's a pocket knife, honey! Let's run away together! :barf:

Yea, relationship Dexter isn't working for me. Better when Rita was an unknowing front. There's no way this show can go forward with a Dexter/Lumen "honey I'm home - let's go kill" team. Is there?

Of all the characters over the course of the series that have known Dexter's secret but for one reason or another didn't reveal it, I think Robocop's excuse is the worst.

He didn't really know the whole story, but what he did know he planned on revealing. He just didn't do a good enough job hogtying ol' Dex.

I just don't get why, if Liddy wanted Quinn's help, he didn't tease him along a bit and tell him a little about why. Some of the fun of this show is seeing how Dex gets out of seemingly impossible situations--stuck with Dan the Dentist's body with Deb about to enter the warehouse, or Deb about to search the guy's house while Dex dismembers him in the vacant house next door--stuff like that. But in the scene with Liddy & Quinn outside the station, Dex got out of trouble by Liddy just not talking anymore. If he'd said another sentence, if he hinted at what he suspected, Dex would have been in danger and the writers would have had a harder time getting out of it. But they just stopped him at, to me, an unbelievable point... twisting his words & actions to the point where Quinn still has plausible deniability and he really shouldn't.
