***Official Dexter Thread*** (1 Viewer)

this show has reached the greatness status for the last three episodes. i can not wait until next weeks.

I think Doakes, if he has any brains, is going to have to put the slides back. No way on Earth he can roll into the station with them - he, as a cop, would know they'd be inadmissable due to illegal search/seizure statutes and all that. If he flies off the handle, he's screwed.

And how does he let people know they are there in the first place? Tell them he broke into Dexter's house? He may be working outside the law and take things into his own hands now.

Doakes is toast!!!! I'll bet Lila is next when she plots Angel against Dexter and then tries to kill Rita for getting back with Dexter. I love this show!!!!

any guesses on what the huge twist is gonna be? im thinking something with gundy, he seems fishy to me.

Seems like Layla is going to kill Doakes. Either that, or Doakes makes some sort of connection to Dexter, and somehow he can keep Dexter's secret. More than likely though, Layla kills Doakes, and Dexter kills her.

But wow, what a season. I have been on the edge of my seat (literally) the last two episodes. Best show on TV.

Considering The Shield isn't back just yet, I can say with confidence that this is the best show on TV.

Simply awesome week in and week out. :towelwave:

Season finale was STRONG.Damn, this show is balls-out awesome. Gonna miss it ('til season 3 starts.)
i loved this season, but didnt like the ending too much......was hoping for a cliffhanger surprise, but it was pretty much the ending i expected.great great season, going to miss it.

this season was very strong although I was hoping for a little more of a cliffhanger at the end. They wrapped up a story arc (his Father's code) that spanned the first two seasons. It will be very interesting to see where they take the show from here. Personally, I feel a lot of drama shows tend to peak during their second season so we might have just watched the best Dexter has to offer but hopefully that is not the case.

I'll say one thing though, that dude is one heck of an actor. He is totally believable as both a serial killer and a Friend of Dorothy.

Wow. Just watched first season and second season on demand. Great show.

After the first few episodes I knew there was more to Harry then meets the eye. Guy is creepy as all hell. Young dexter also scared me always sweating

I think the show is good but the ending has been fairly predictable in both seasons. You pretty much could put together what was coming.

Show seems to be the strongest in the middle of the season.

The wife and I had a Dexter marathon this weekend and I have to agree that the second season was STRONG. Clearly the best show on TV right now, and I hope Hall gets his due come awards season. Really wish that last kill hadn't happened and season three could have been abroad, but I trust this writing team with what they are doing.

It's going to be really interesting to see how this plays out on CBS. Nudity and sex not a problem, and the blood is often not much more than a typical CSI episode, but Ms. Morgan and Doaks sure do enjoy the F-bomb, so that could bring issues.

putting this show on CBS will not do it justice. if you have not seen it get it from netflix or buy it. best show on TV.

I think the biggest issue in transferring the show to CBS is the fact that network shows usually run 45 mins... Dexter episodes run around 55. There will be some serious editing done.

Ms. Morgan has a lot of good one liners that will certainly be edited. When the new season starts up, it will be on Showtime won't it?

yes. They were already pimping season three, right at the end of season two. I don't think any of its filmed yet, but they promise a new season in 2008.

Wife and I just finished the first two seasons and loved it! It amazes me that so few people have ever heard about Dexter but I imagine this will all change once it airs on CBS. I would still recommend renting the first two seasons because I imagine it would be like watching the Sopranos on regular cable (just wouldn't do it justice). Anyone hear anything about Season 3? A cliffhanger would have been nice but I trust the writers know what they're doing to keep up the same level! I've seen The Wire and Deadwood mentioned a few times in this thread, would people recommend these if we liked Dexter?

I highly agree about the CBS version...I'd HIGHLY recommend the DVD's.Never seen the Wire, but I plan on starting soon w/ season 1. Deadwood got really old really fast for me. I stopped watching a couple of episodes into season 2.

i really want to see this showcool concept and great actorhave to wait for dvds
just finished the season 1 dvds last nightliked it enough to watch season 2 after watching homicide and the wire I found alot of the drama at the police hq overly dramatic and cheesythe stuff with dexters girlfriend was annoying toois season 2 better or as good as season 1?

Same here, just finished season 1 on dvd. I watched it because I had heard some good things about it and I loved Michael C. Hall in Six Feet Under. I liked it, I wouldn't say I loved it. I defintely am interested in season 2. Does anyone know when that is released on DVD? How does season 2 compare to season 1?

Thought season 2 was just as good as 1. Some of it even better.

ok, in a state of desperation due to the writers' strike, cbs buys dexter - to what extent? a few episodes? the first season? the show, hook, line and sinker?

in other words, who's got the rights to season 3?

CBS is starting with Season One. Showtime has the rights to Season 3.

Deadwood and The Wire are dramatically different than Dexter and each other. Enjoyment of one is not a good predictor of enjoying the others. Deadwood and The Wire are both slow developing shows where the storyline for the season often takes a long time to become apparent. Dexter OTOH gets to the point much quicker.Personally I am a huge Deadwood fan, second only to Band of Brothers in HBO's pantheon of original programming IMO. Al Swearengen is one of the best written characters in the history of television, and Ian McShane (the actor who plays Al) is brilliant in the role. There is excellent character development and the supporting cast does a tremendous job creating the feeling of frontier society in the absence of government or laws. I find the show intelligent, exciting, often hysterically funny and deeply compelling. I think many people have difficulty with the fact that Deadwood is written in reasonably authentic period english so the dialogue can sometimes be difficult to follow, until your ear adjusts for how people speak in the show. Personally I find the dialogue to be very rich and colorfully presented, adding substance and a feel of authenticity to the show but I can see how others found that it made the show unnecessarily complex and difficult to follow. The Wire is easier to relate to and creates a lot of imagery that drives home salient points about the nature of the drug war that the viewer can easily relate to. It is very non-traditional for a cop show in that they really show how difficult it is to build a case that will stand up in court. This show is the polar opposite of Vic Mackey kicking down doors and knocking heads together to nail the bad guys. The Wire shows busts not over dramatized shootouts, it deals with political considerations the legality of evidence collection and the political considerations that shape the way law enforcement approaches the job of handling crime. The Wire is a very intelligent and well written show.Neither of them strike me as being particularly similar to Dexter in style or substance.

Great insight Chaka, thanks. We are about 8 episodes into Season 1 of the Wire and are enjoying it more each night. It definitely takes alot longer to build the storyline but as you begin to identify with certain characters and their roles it really starts to grip you. We will be watching Deadwood once we finish the Wire. Thanks for the heads up.
