Yikes, Eagle throws out of bounds and mutters “I can’t deal with how much you suck”, then misses a really short putt. Maybe 15 feet max? Total meltdown.

Gossage is making me a believer. Can he hold on?
I keep thinking his putting is not going to hold up, but putting doesn’t matter when all you have to do is drop it in.

Calvin needed that eagle putt on 14, so close.

I predict fireworks tomorrow. I’ll be surprised if Gossage doesn’t relinquish the lead at some point. McBeast is right there waiting.

That putt on 17 was great, but I still can't stop thinking about the approach that even made it impossible. He had a 7-foot gap, maybe an 8-foot ceiling, and he had to carry it 450 over OB just to give himself a 1/100 shot at birdie. Just a ridiculous shot.

Also played my second tournament yesterday. I’m still nowhere close to good, but I did manage to do a lot better. I mostly played bogey golf with a smattering of pars and two nightmare holes, including one where I threw a forehand roller approach about forty feet uphill and it circled the basket before coming right back down hill.

Still, no three putts and I hit a few 15 footers. Had an 8 foot birdie putt spit out from dead center chains. Gross. Driver sucked all day, but I was pretty consistent with forehand flick approaches.

We had an amazing time in Oregon. @urbanhack and @General Malaise can't thank you enough for the info. Our schedule was pretty tight, I didn't think it would work to squeeze in a FBG round.

I played Dabney, Pier Park, and Blue Lake. Liked Dabney a lot, it was super busy when we were there though, so I played it out of order to avoid long waits. It was my least favorite of the three, but that's certainly no knock. It seems like the kind of course that would grow on you as you get comfortable with the lines. There were a few holes where I couldn't really see the line on the tee, but got a better view once I got the basket and realized I threw the wrong shot.

Pier Park is just absurd. I know a lot of work has gone into it, and I don't mean to belittle that, but if there is a piece of property more naturally suited to disc golf on the planet I'd love to see it. Just amazing. I was giggling the entire round, just couldn't keep it in. Holes 3-15 are so picturesque it doesn't even look real at times. I played really well, shot two under with no bogies, and no long putts for parr. Missed quite a few C1 putts for birdie. I would have played it three times in a row if I was flying solo.

Blue Lake was my favorite though. It's not quite the pro layout but still pretty tough. Incredible course and I played the round of my life, which probably influenced my opinion of the place. I took a few mulligans so wouldn't feel right to mention my "score", but I had read how gnarly the rough is, so I just played it safe and it paid off. I think the course is right in the sweet-spot for me in terms of being challenging but not overwhelming. I've not played many courses outside of KC, but I think it'll be a long time before I find a course I like more than Blue Lake.

MVP Open was fun. I was sad for Corey Ellis, so close at DGLO and now this. I'm hoping he wins USDGC or the Pro Tour Championship, he deserves to win a pro tour event this year

Hell yea. Thanks for the report.

I literally give gratitude during the middle of each round when I play Pier, which is AT LEAST once a week. It truly is amazing. -2 the first time around the place is really impressive. What day did you play there?

I'm guessing you might have gone 5, 6 or 7 deep at Blue Lake? Lot's of birdies to get on the front nine if you keep it in play like you did.

We were at Pier Thursday morning.

At Bue Lake I had six birdies on the front; 1 (insane that the pros play it as a par 3), 4-7, and 9. Only took a mulligan on 9, but in my defense I completely misread the hole from the tee. I didn’t realize the RHBH off the tee is impossible to miss, so I picked up my first shot and walked back to the tee and started over. I went back and rewatched the Jomez coverage of the Portland Open that night, wish I had done it the night before as I would’ve remembered how easy the tee shot is because Sexton did a whole bit about it.

The back was way more of a challenge, especially for a forehand dominant player like me. Only had one birdie, 14, the shorter par 5. Took a double on 17 (F that hole) and a bogey on 18, par everywhere else. Had a couple mulligans that would have turned two of those pars into bogies most likely. Was most proud of my tee shot on five, got completely around the corner and was able to give it a run for eagle from about 80 feet. I think I got a nice roll on my tee shot but I’ll take it.

2 under at Pier Park just solidifies my reality that I ****ing suck at this hobby.
nah, I’ve been playing for a long time, had a really good/fortunate round, and it’s setup well for forehand players. I’ve also been playing like a madman the last six months, it’s really taken over and it pretty much my only hobby anymore. The limited bag and playing conservative because I didn’t want to look for discs really helped my game too. If it makes you feel better I was around 15 over after ~9 at Dabney when I stopped counting, there’s a reason I didn’t mention anything about my score there.

Glad you got out and played here, hopefully you come back so we can get a round in with Hack. Hoping by then I'm a little better than +27 at Pier! ;)

That’s really great shooting all the way around for the first time seeing the courses, dude.

As GM said…get back out here and we’ll go throw some plastic!!

Planned on playing a tournament this weekend but Ian had other ideas. Bummed it was cancelled as I rarely play tourneys and I was looking for redemption.
I played this tournament 2 years ago and was in second place heading into the last round. It was a back and forth battle and I was in the lead headed with 2 holes to go. Back to back bogies 😡 saw me relinquish the lead and finish in second. That was a bitter pill to swallow as I had played solid golf all weekend.

A tidbit that may only interest me…The final round was at Nevin and is the same course that will be used in the DGPT final this year.

Pulled off a small C tier win a few weeks ago. Had only played this course once, but then they poured cement tee pads and changed the layout. I said WTF and went for it...36 holes in one day and this course is a beast. The wooded holes are ridiculous. Took a quad bogey on 16 and went from having a five shot lead down to 1. Was able to hold off. Would have tied for second in MA 40.

Getting ready for another event next week. 27 holes saturday and sunday at one of my favorite courses, McCormick Park. Will be 12 guys in this division so this should be a good test!

Had some credits to spend with my recent tournament winnings and grabbed a few Mind Benders that came out this week! Going to go test them out this afternoon.

our state championship starts today in Billings.

its a traveling event that has been going on since the late 70s. it is one of the longest running events in the world, only to be topped by Wildflower,. another local event, which was first played in 1975.

i first played in 85 and finally won it in 92 and proceeded to win a total of 7 titles in a 10 year period. james conrads dad was one of my closest rivals. i remember 'little' james winning the state putting title at age 12.

a good listen: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/james-conrad-organically-grown/id1457213669?i=1000513647302

Super excited for the last round of USDGC today. Ricky started hot, looking to put pressure on from the chase card, but the lead card battle should be amazing and where it's decided. Anttila (been the most consistent player all week) ahead of Calvin by one, with McBeth and Burr two back. Two players under 20 years old which is nuts. As always I'll be rooting for Vinny but would love to see Anttila or Burr take it down. So pumped for this, lead card tees off in in 20

Incredible circle 2 performance from Buhr. I read he hit 480 feet of putts (on only 19 putts) in that final round. Unoffically rated a 1090 round. Hell of a way to win your first major as a 17-year-old. Have to feel for Calvin. One hole doomed him.

Had a great time following the lead cards on Saturday. I was hoping Vinnie would pull it off but hats off to Gannon.

Had a great time last weekend hosting my sons college disc golf team as they were playing a tournament in town.
Cooked prodigious amounts of food for dinner Friday and Saturday night and enjoyed watching 4 kids starved for home cooking chow down.

It’s really cool to see how far DG has come with top 25 rankings for teams and individuals. I had no idea they did this until my son told me he’s ranked in the top 20(humble brag).

The website is horrible on mobile but they also post on Instagram and Facebook if you use either of those.

You guys been buying any new plastic? There is so much good stuff coming out now, it's hard to keep track! I'm constantly moving away from Innova and Discraft and more towards Discmania, DD, Latitude 64, Kastaplast and Thought Space (i love their stamps!).

My top adds this year:
  • Orbit Tattar Grace - I now have 5 Graces...will probably keep 2 in the bag
  • Mind Bender - This is so straight and solid.
  • Lucid / FusionX Vandal - My go-to fairway driver.
  • Kastaplast Grym.
I just got the new prototype Supreme Judge. This feels so good...I might be switching to this as my main putter in 2023.

Goals for 2023:
  • 5 tournament wins
  • 950 rating
  • 1000 tournament rated round
  • 80% Cir1X putting.
  • Play at least once a month with @General Malaise
  • Make it to the finals in my local league.

Funny, I ordered a Rive Grand Grace this morning.

It was only available in one weight, I think 173+. With that said, I've gravitated toward lighter plastic this year so I hope I still find some use for it. I've heard great things about it.

HFS... Innova made a disc called the Jay? I must get one.

You guys been buying any new plastic? There is so much good stuff coming out now, it's hard to keep track!

My brother in law got me a max weight Champion Jay for Christmas. I used it in a two-disc round at Winter Fun League yesterday (my 2nd disc was a putter). I had a good round and the disc was kinda great, especially for champ plastic right out of the box.

I'm going to try to grab a light one in the brightest pink I can find.

P.S. what's the best place to buy discs online nowadays?

I often have success with Luckydiscgolf.com

But in truth if I'm looking for a specific disc I have to hunt around most of the time unless it's something super common.

I like otbdiscs, they rate the flatness and gumminess of the actual disc you are buying, and there is a picture of every disc. Infinite discs is another popular online retailer, I have never used them. though. If you're buying innova I think their proshop has the most stock

Only working half a day today. Dressed ready to play a round by the office. Super excited even with a bit of wet weather.

Left my discs at home. Really just need to keep them in the car.

got this for xmas...

no idea what to do next. the course I drive by never has anyone on it.

any AZ east valley disk golfers? Do I have to smoke pot as I play?

Thank you!

Decided to play in a small C tier on NYE with a few buddies. We all played in MA1 since there were not many players. Total of 25 players in the entire tournament. I ended up with the overall 3rd lowest score of the day. Finished 2nd in MA1 by one shot.

Shot 945 in my first round then caught fire and shot a career best 977-rated round with 5 birdies in round 2.

I made the switch to the Supreme Judge and had a career best 88% Cir1X putting for the 36 holes.

This was leaked and I guess wasn't a surprise to most.....but Simon goes to MVP! 10 year deal.

As a newbie, I am getting to know the players, and spending more time on Disc Golf Twitter and YouTube, but is there a basketball or football example that would be equivalent to this deal? Feels like these contracts are breaking new ground in the sport.
