No, it was a 32 player Karkand on a 64 player map, and the other team was very good. And our team was not as good.what happened? you guys get base raped?

1. Not necessarily, though you won't have the unlocked weapons over time that others will have.2. Only commanders can call arty, so at your rank, you don't need to worry about that for some time. No spotter needed.I have a few questions:
1. Okay, if I don't have the SF add-on am I at a big disadvantage?
2. How does Arty work? Do they have to have a spotter within a certain range?
3. I like to play roles in these games, defend bases, go on a specific mission to kill arty, uav, etc. I know that won't earn me big points, but will I be able to earn ranks this way?
4. Is there a significant difference between the USB gaming headphones and the regular headphone jack style with the two plugs?
5. Is teamspeak limited to your squad or is that only on the built-in voip? I like the thought of a squad channel that only your squad can hear, seems like a lot less "noise".
2. So the commanders can call Arty anywhere on the map? Are there limitations? 5. So even on Fraghaus's teamspeak server it recognizes what squad you're in and limits your communications to that group? Roger that!1. 3. You get points for capturing flags, repairing equipment, destroying their arty and assets, healing and reviving, etc. There are tons of ways to earn points and get promoted, so you should like it.
4.![]()
5. Chat is generally limited to squad within squad. Squad leaders can talk to the commander. I wish I had this one figured out.
1) The SF addon comes with some good unlock weapons, but it isnt necessary. A few of them, especially the assault, are pretty darn good. However, its mostly personal preference and you can easily get by without them. THE SF maps themselves are very fun, but they require a very good PC to run well.2) Arty doesnt need a spotter. the commander just clicks a spot, and thats where it lands. Kinda lame if you ask me.I have a few questions:

nah, you get a rank with SF each time you get a rank in regular battlefield. you dont have to have them before you install it. You'll still get them. Also, i forgot to mention that the medic SF unlock is one of the best in the game. In general the G3 series of weapons is very good. Not huge stopping power, but amazingly accurate. 2 four shot burts to the torso will drop most classes. Maybe you need 3 for the armored classesIf I have yet to earn a rank, should I hold off on installing the Add-on? It sounds like you get unlocks based on how many ranks you've earned before you installed the add-on?
NO! Install it now because you get double unlocks if you own the expansion. If I have yet to earn a rank, should I hold off on installing the Add-on? It sounds like you get unlocks based on how many ranks you've earned before you installed the add-on?
haha. i couldnt fly a chopper if my life depended on it. Ive never even tried. I wish i could. I dont think id ever die

I am always looking for a good gunner. I think there are a few FBG's that can attest to my abilities to not die too often in the pilot seat.haha. i couldnt fly a chopper if my life depended on it. Ive never even tried. I wish i could. I dont think id ever die![]()

you talking about the blackhawk or hte attack choppers? ive been in an attack chopper exactly once. I killed one tank with the TV missle, but it basically an accident. I had no clue what i was doing. The guy was like "great shot" and i was like "uh, thanks"as far as the transport choppers, im pretty good with the blackhawk mini guns, but that is so easy that even a caveman could do it. The splash damage is killer. I dont think ive ever been in the MEC chopper. Maybe once.I am always looking for a good gunner. If you try to join a server that is using regular maps, it will kick you out and go to BF2. Likewise, if you try to join a SF server from BF2, it restarts. This is an issue that needs to be addressed in a patch.Okay, so I bought Special Forces. I installed it. I run it from START-EA GAMES-Battlefield 2 Special Forces. I go into Multiplayer and see the list of servers. Now, I try to get into any of them to play and after waiting for everything to load, it kicks me out and tells me that I need to revert to the original game to access those servers.
How can I do that? They are using special forces MAPS?!!!
I'm confused.
Also, my mike works in windows, but not in BF2.
I need to shoot something.
Did you get the newest patch? Version 1.12 IIRCIf you start the game as Special Forces you can only play special forces maps. This is designated by a green two (2) symbol to the left of the server information in the multiplayer window.Okay, so I bought Special Forces. I installed it. You can't even start a game with the SF disk, though. You have to use the regular BF2 disk. I wish this were changed, too. I want to keep one disk at home, 1 at work.Did you get the newest patch? If you want to play vanilla BF2 maps, start BF2 with the BF2 disc - Not the Special forces disc.
Yeah its lame that you can't switch easily form BF2 to BF2:SF but thats the way it is.

I'm in then, I was kicking serious a** with TVs about a month ago, then for some reason stopped playin as gunner (I think frustratoin at a COMPLETE lack of decent pilots on any server I played on....) Now that I think of it, that is one reason Sharqii is such a good map. It is like Karkand, but with attack choppers. Then you have Mashtuur, which is Karkand with transport choppers.I'm in then, I was kicking serious a** with TVs about a month ago, then for some reason stopped playin as gunner (I think frustratoin at a COMPLETE lack of decent pilots on any server I played on....) I might be, and I am soooo far away from that ratio it ain't funny, though I do get closer every time I play.anyone tonight? Im so close to my 1-1 ratio
I started the map off strong by teamkilling Mark Davis and Mad Cow. It went down from there. It's been a long time since I got that mad at a video game. I'll be out there again after I get my kids down, around 8:45 Central time.Had a lot of good rounds yesterday, but that last map was horrid. They were a good team and other than the FBGs, there was only 1 or 2 competent players.Day-um that was frustrating last night.Hey Gator. Mad Cow keeps an updated list of players in the first post of this thread. Add all those to the BF2 Tracker buddylist and you can almost always find an FBG or two. It's not always a good thing, as we were schooled routinely last night. Too much gumbo and beer I guess. Then the FBG exodus began.
What the hell was that fellas? Who chose that freaking server?![]()
I jumped to a 16 man Karkand and had much better success.
I got my first purple heart on that server
Same server, yes, you're good though, and I'm a noob. That was a point factory for some people. Now, this morning, I played:was it the same server i was on? I didnt have a huge problem getting points, although our team was getting whooped.
We got base raped a few games. Thats just what happens sometimes
Just be thankful it was a flash bang instead of team killing you.Last night on the one map we played where you can start on the Helo Carrier, I came up to the deck to find a ride and some guy on our team drops a flashbang in front of us. I guess so we wouldn't "steal" his plane.
I'm not endorsing it but it does happen occasionally. The good servers will have mods watching pretty closely and will kick the team killers

And had some good games. A few organized attacks on bases met by a well organized defense. It was a very intense tactical firefight. No one was dolphin diving.
Some observations, and feel free to challenge them.
1. Always single shot if possible.
2. Shotguns suck
3. Pistols are great for medium range, but seem horrible at close-in.
4. I don't seem to be able to use grenades defensively. I can never ready arm and throw quick enough.
5. The first one to go prone seems to come out alive.
6. I have to learn how to recognize bad versus good quicker.
7. I hate enemy jets.
8. A good pilot rocks.

Nevermind. I was thinking you were Mark Davis.Yes, single shot is the way to go unless you think there is gonna be a close quarters fire fight. And always aim down the sight, as well. I've been playing pretty much exclusively assault, except for one point last night when I played Engineer for awhile trying to place mines in defense of a flag. I tried medic, but I get myself killed too often trying to help.gator shawn, what classes were you playing?
learn to use the grenade launcher(aka the noob tube) Using it at close range is very cheap, and will be eliminated in the next patch. However, its very effective at med and long range. Just learn the launch angles and let fly. Easy kills.I've been playing pretty much exclusively assault, except for one point last night when I played Engineer for awhile trying to place mines in defense of a flag. I've been trying, but it seems the effective radius is not really great. quick question. do you have to finish a round for a badge to count. I ask because i decided to dedicate today to getting my basic knife and pistol badges. I got the pistol badge on oman, but later in the round, my ping jumped to 250+ and i was kicked. The badge didnt show up in my awards immedietly, but maybe it will later. Anyone know?
I think in order for the badge to "stick" you need to finish the round.
