Hey TLEF, if you want to hear which way the enemy is, get some decent surround sound headphones. It really does work.

I was in some scrub in Heavy Metal and heard some rustling to my right. I looked on my radar, no friendlies. I slowly crept over there and got 2 quick knife kills with a couple of snipers that thought they were gonna camp that area.
Suggestions?
I have the Logitech G35 and love it. The Razor Carcharias costs less and is supposed to be very good as well.

Wow! That's my RPG of choice too, since I don't have to rely on a tracer dart of a clear shot to hit something. I've taken down a few aerial vehicles with it (lucky shots), but nothing with that sort of accuracy. Maybe I should start trying again. At first, I thought perhaps these shots may have been just random lucky shots, but then later in the video, he has several back to back shots. And then he takes out the guys parachuting from the choppers with it too. That's just insane.

Really hope they don't bring back stopping power and body armor for BF3. It really renders the perks that might otherwise be useful worthless by comparison. Are they going to be building on Bad Company 2 for this game or is it going to have a different class structure and build upon BF2 (which I know nothing about)?I don't think the Assault kit should be able to run around willy nilly with infinite C4 either. Also think there should be a better indication of C4 being planted somewhere, like a blinking light of some sort. It's unrealistic, but it's so cheap when some Assault idiot is camping the spawn with C4 planted on the ground and my tank seemingly blow up out of nowhere. It also seems like C4 is way more powerful than the noobtube attachment, which doesn't seem very balanced. Basically, C4 is way overpowered and needs a nerf. Also, there needs to be a real counter to helicopters, not just the anti-air turret that takes 3 years to kill choppers. Perhaps they could make the homing tracer dart travel a lot faster and more accurately like a bullet. It's amazing how unstoppable a chopper simply flying in circles is, something that obviously takes a lot of skill to do. You should never be trapped in your own spawn with no counter or means of escape. If enemies are crowding your spawn, you should be able to spawn somewhere else.BF3 could really use a Mercenary type playlist where you play in teams, but can not play as a party. I don't want to run into 4 dudes trying superhard and holding each other's cocks when I'm just running by myself. I'm glad to see they're adding customization to this game. Hopefully they can make the classes balanced and make sure there is a counter for everything, something Black Ops did a tremendous job with. I'd also like to see them explore some more interesting and specialized perks, like armor that nerfs explosive damage (but not bullet damage) or a quick reloading mechanism allowing you to run and gun better. Nothing that makes you super overpowered, but niche perks that really allow you to taylor to your playstyle. I'd also like to see some sort of perk enhancement that would allow you to move silently and not constantly have your cover blown by some dude camping and listening for footsteps with his uber-tryhard headset. Or when your character blows your own cover by shouting "Friendly down!!" like a idiot. Silencers should be a customization you can add to your gun as well, along with the obligatory bullet damage decrease over range. The console versions could really use aim-assist as well. Feels really unnatural and behind the times when compared to other console shooters like Halo and CoD. I'd really like to see Dice embrace the arcade-style a bit and allow for outright skill to win more battles rather than constantly being outgunned by some dude camping on a hillside hardscoped on my spawn. Maybe allow for the recovery time from sprinting to be a little faster? I dunno. But most of all, I hope they add a theater mode to BF3. I can't stand getting owned by some dude and having no means of figuring out what his strategies were or how he runs the map, or how he always seemed to know exactly where I was. I'd like to see how I was spotted, where I was spotted from, etc. Plus, I'd love to be able to capture gameplay of this and put it up on youtube. I play Bad Company 2 on the console, so if it seems like some of this stuff doesn't apply to you, it probably doesn't. Hopefully DICE comes through with some of these things.
good points on over-powered Air. I would still be playing this game if not for those invincible hinds. or if they added new maps sooner...still, ive become a fan of this franchise through BC2 and will be there for BF3.

I don't see how that guy is able to shoot down stuff with that launcher like that. That's crazy. Has to be a trick to doing it to do it that consistently.
I have read about people using programs that take away the red box that distracts you from the missile and another that clears the visibility from having a ton of fogginess. Don't know if he used them, but they sure would help me, especially that little damn red box that is pointless.

I can't even tell you how annoying it is to play on a regular 24" LCD at a mere 1920X1200 after living large at 5760X1200. The lack of peripheral vision drives me crazy. :nerd: :bag:

Those AT4 videos are generally taken from hundreds of hours of game play. I've probably shot down a dozen choppers with it, but most were at pretty close range.

I definitely agree that taking away the red box would help a lot.

Its almost pointless to master this though. Lately I've been getting really annoyed about how quickly enemies can jump out of a vehicle to avoid a death. I wish they would put a short timer on it like when you are arming/disarming a bomb.

I wish they would do it for reviving as well. They won't though

I need to try and use the AT4. I got plat with the CG and have used the RPG-7 exclusively since since that seems to be better vs vehicles. That said, I have been taken down to maybe 10% health with a single CG shot a few times and that pisses me off. Gotta be some sort of issue there. Seems to be that it takes me 3-4 RPGs to the rear of a tank to kill it, even with the greater explosive perk. I have been almost decimated by a CG and AT4 in a single shot and have no idea how they did it. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I am playing through the SP campaign of BC2 for the 1st time for a little change and it is alright. I have to admit, though, that I got an AN94 fairly early on, and it is pretty much :moneybag: in the SP, as well. Three bursts, dead enemy, move on to next. Gotta love it.

I'm going to start playing this again on the 360. Getting the Vietnam DLC on 4/5(when it is 50% off).

I'm damn good at using the tanks, be it driving or repair man. I need a wingman.

:football:

Here ya go:http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/3885/booms.pngLooking at Den K's weapon stats, it looks like the AT4 is the strongest against vehicles at 380 damage. They all do 100 damage vs. humans, but the Carl Gustav has the biggest blast radius and is therefore the best. I don't think these stats take into account whether you have the Explosive MK2 upgrade on your launcher, but the stats are consistent none the less. The Carl Gustav with Ex. MK II absolutely WRECKS dudes camping in windows.http://denkirson.xanga.com/722757523/bad-company-2/

Uploaded my first Bad Company 2 video to my youtube channel. There is some language. Please don't hate on me for being a console noob. :scared:

They officially released part 3 of the singleplayer game play videos this morning.

Its just part of the leaked video I posted a while back, but the quality is better now.

Singeplayer looks very well done, but I still won't play it unless the servers crash or my internet goes down for a few days. And if that happens, I probably wouldn't be able to log onto steam anyway)

Ren, I've played shooters, with/against you. I wouldn't call you a noob no matter what platform you play on.

, since TLEF didn't include it.

The SP campaign is definitely worthwhile to playthrough. It is immensely fun to visit places like Heavy Metal and Atacama, etc. in SP venues when you know them from the MP.

The story is well done but my favorite parts are just when I would stop and do something else for a while. Then I would come back and your squad NPCs would be having a 5-10 minute conversation about what they are going through or other real world issues. This happened multiple times and was a very nice touch that was hilarious.

Meh, now that I've hit level 50 I might give it a shot.

Decided not to get crysis 2 until the price drops (since I won't be playing mp) so I will have some free gaming time.

Still need to play uncharted though

Three snipers on your own team chilling next to the enemy sniper in the lighthouse. :lmao: Oblivious teammates are the worst, they cause me so much rage.

Thanks Badger. Yeah, BC2 is probably the most fun multiplayer experience when you get a good squad rollin'. I'll have some Vietnam footage up today. I think you'll be quite surprised by how different of an experience it is from the regular game.

I don't know what it is about those Battlefield 3 videos, but that white noise bassline gives me goosebumps and gets me superhype every time.

In their defense, I don't think there's a way to get on the roof of the lighthouse except helicopter, is there? So I'm not sure that they could actually do anything about that guy.

Posted another live commentary, this time on Arica Harbor Rush. About a 30-someodd minute session.

The first part is a nice piece of tank annihilation, the second is just for the sake of being a completionist (I lag out and rejoin in the 3rd part), and the 3rd part shows us making a desperate push for victory. We should definitely get a good FBG lobby for BC2 going for the 360 sometime. I've been wearing out my HD PVR since I found out I could record live gameplay, so forgive me for posting an absurd amount of content lately.

This would definitely clear their names.

As usual Ren, great videos. I love BC2. I downloaded the Vietnam expansion at Christmas and havent played it yet because I have been playing COD. Gotta jump on there and play it again.

Part 1:

If you play Vietnam, there are only 2 options for weapons - the M14 for assault or the PP something SMG for Engineer. They are both pretty much as OP as it gets.

I'll be logging in a good amount of BC2 this fri/sat/sun. I am starting fresh since this is a new tag since when I played last year, so it will take a little bit to get the better weapons. The first weapon for the engineers is just terrible. I haven't played any of the Vietnam expansion. Does it use its own set of weapons and if so, how many for each type are there?

The weapon sets are pretty comparable for the most part, except there are no optics on the non-Recon classes. The Assault kit can no longer use C4, and the handling/reloading/ADSing feels more sluggish to me in general in Vietnam as opposed to the normal mode, but that could just all be in my head. The Engineer kit only has RPGs available in the launcher category, and these are completely worthless for shooting down choppers. The Recon kit no longer has motionballs. The Medic kit is almost completely unchanged, but the M60's iron sights are a disgraceful stain on the face of humanity. The tanks are a lot harder to use. The turret on the tanks can swivel around and up as much as you need to and it absolutely wrecks humans and choppers, but the main cannon on the tank does not fire accurately until your tank has come to a complete stop. The Alternate Fire vehicle package has been replaced with a vehicular flamethrower, which is completely worthless.

The color scheme is a lot darker in Vietnam than regular BC2, and there's tons of bushes and trees on every map, so you'll see a lot more in the way of camping. There's also a lot more choke points, so you'll run into even more camping.

Here's a good example of me getting spawntrapped by a team of noobs and doing everything in my power not to ragequit:

Unrelated to gameplay, the music in Vietnam is amazing. Nothing cooler than blowing stuff up while Ride of the Valkyrie is blasting in the tank.

I gave up on Vietnam pretty quickly due to this. I like to move around and try and accomplish the objectives, you know, play the game. I felt this was a lot more difficult in Vietnam given people camping. I just found it less fun than the original but YMMV.

It was much easier to kill people in vietnam. I dont know if the weapons did more damage or if the hit detection was better, but it just seemed like guys went down quicker.

Ended up going back to vanilla pretty quickly though. The color palette in nam is depressing and there weren't enough maps.

Plus the choke points were too tight most of the time.

Worth the cheap price, but I wasn't blown away.

You should have joined Slax and I a couple of times in Vietnam. Good times.

Other than one map, I like Vietnam. I can't promise I'll have a stellar night every night though. I need to drop more points in my consistency rating.

There are certainly some fun maps, and when you can roll in the front MG of the boat, you can mow down VC and rack up ridiculous points.

Just played in a full squad for a match and then with three of us for another hour. I forgot how fun this game was. We must of had 5-6 times where we either rolled into the enemies base with two tanks, a tank and chopper, or a full engineer tank team just demolishing the other squads while taking the objectives.

Also, Moobin pulling a 8 point turn in a tank when he could have just swiveled in place was money. The other team probably just sat and watched wondering what this new person was doing. :lmao:

Good times.

Finished the SP campaign and I really enjoyed it. Worth the playthrough, even if I did end up using the AN94 the whole time with a sniper rifle or shottie mixed in as the secondary.

considering going through the trouble of signing up for BF: play for free solely so i can get a higher veteran number next to my name in Bf3 :bag:

Need a beta key? And it's actually pretty good. Much better than Heroes was. If you liked Battlefield 2, you should like it. It's practically the same thing.

but then i gotta ask......why wouldn't i just play Bf2 then? More maps, better graphics, ect. I get the market for it, and I think it will do well. But i just don't see the hardcore BF fan like me wasting a lot of time (or any money) here.

No. You're better off playing BF2 for the reasons you stated. The only advantage Play4Free has is that it can be played from anywhere through a browser. I haven't really touched it much in the last month, myself. But I haven't played as much BC2 as I'd like either.

I'm on the last level of the campaign and it has been excellent so far. The best traditional shooter campaign in a long time. I love how the story and dialog make it feel like you have a team and not just random NPCs following you around. Also, the fact that I haven't #####ed at them for ignoring enemies and not killing anything is huge.

Yeah, I think I'm half way through it but haven't played it since October. Need to finish it up. Wish it was co-op.
