Played a few games with Kilgore Trout over the past several days, including some squad DM today. I didn't even realize that that mode existed; I thought it wasn't unlocking until the end of the month, but I guess that must be squad rush instead. A couple of guys with mics who work together can clean up in that mode. We played three rounds, winning two and just barely missing a win in the third.

M60 platinum star

pretty sure they nerfed it a tiny bit in the last patch. (even though its not listed in the patch notes).

It seems to have a tiny bit more recoil on mid-range shots and more deviation on long range shots.

So basically, its now an automatic 2-1 K/D ratio instead of 3/1

I'll get the bronze stars for the last 3 medic unlocks and then i'll start a combo of recon (to get the rest of the unlocks) engy (when i have issues with vehicles) and assault (gonna go with either the M16 or 416 for my next platinum star)

i'll probably jump on for a few rounds after The Pacific.

I have only played a little bit last night and today and I was thinking the same exact thing. At distance its recoil is probably 100% more than what it was, but its still a sweet gun. I only have the m60 at 4 or 5 gold stars but did get a vehicle platinum star.

I've been really jealous of y'all in this thread, especially considering I don't have a machine that could run this. I was thinking about upgrading my desktop but my recent relocation (I'm living in a hotel for the next 3 months) has got me thinking that maybe a souped-up laptop may work out better.

I was looking around today and found this one: Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q860

The thing is a rock (10+ lbs.) but does it have enough juice to run BFBC or anything else I throw at it? MC?I can get it for around $1100 so it's not going to cost an arm and a leg like some of those Alienware machines.
Ordered and will be delivered along with BFBC on Wednesday. :lmao:

per a tweet from one of the producers...the next patch will include balance tweeks, including the M60, M1911 (.45 caliber pistol) and anti-air measures. No word on what type of tweaks they will be (although the first 2 will likely be nerfed).

Personally, i dont think the pistol needs to be nerfed. its the best pistol, but there are 2 others that can be worthy alternatives.

Some guys in game the other night were talking that they were going to change crouch to a toggle with the next patch.

I'm sorry, that wasn't an option.

Any word on if they are going to fix the match-making on this game? I have played enough to get to 3rd level, but I just keep getting frustrated when I am just fodder for guys that are all level 20 and above. I am almost to the point of just trading the game in because of this. I know :goodposting:

Level 3 is nothing in this game. You've barely gotten your feet wet. It takes quite a while to learn the maps, but one you do that you'll find that you suddenly get much better at this. What's the best way to get from Bravo to Alpha in this base? Are there usually enemy troops camping that area? Are there other, sneakier routes? What buildings are good to hide out in? Where can I set up shop to have a clear line of fire into this objective without getting sniped? Where are the mounted guns in this base, and can I flank people who are on them? When we lose both objectives, is there anyplace I can hide behind enemy lines to pick attackers off from behind? What routes tend to be travelled by vehicles? Etc. If you're level 3, you don't really know the answer to any of those questions yet, and that's why you're having a hard time. Just keep with it.

Battlefield has never worked like that. I dont think there's gonna be any sort of matchmaking update. The initial guns are weak, but once you get up a few levels (really shouldnt take long at all) you'll have good enough equipment to compete. Yeah, there are a few guns that you get later that are better (m60 for sure) but all of them are accesible within 7-8 hours of play time if you just play once class.the key is learning the maps and getting used to the firing of your favorite weapons. You're always gonna be in mixed games. Thats just the way battlefield is. On the PC, we get to pick which server we go into and we've got no idea what type of players are in there.

 The maps are intelligently designed so there really isn't and truly 'good' camping spots, every spot is vulnerable if you know how to go about it, and what to use.

I understand about the maps, that is kind of the same way in COD...learning the maps made it more enjoyable. Problem for me is that I don't have enough time to devote to the game to level up very fast so 30 minutes to an hour at a time is going to be max for the most part. That was one of the initial gripes I heard about COD was the match-making and that appeared to get fixed, so I was wondering if that was something they would try to do in BFBC2.My biggest gripe is that when I am shooting at people (from behind) and they can still turn around and kill me because of the better guns it is just frustrating to me (okay...makes me want to throw the controller through the tv the 5th time it happens in the same game  ). It will show that they only have 10% health or whatever left so I know I was hitting them.I did enjoy the one night in a rush game that I got with a good squad that worked together, so maybe that is the key. I need to update my friends list with FBGs that have this game and try it out.

You're using the wrong guns/classes then.Play as Recon in the beginning, that starting rifle is one of the best, 1 shot kill (mostly) and you'll pretty much only die by other snipers. You also unlock the mortar pretty quick, and it is fun as hell raining death down on tanks and unsuspecting/fortified enemies. It will also help you learn the maps as you will see just about everything from afar and can start to tell where people tend to be on maps, and what works and doesn't.If you've got terrible aim sniping, don't worry about it.Use the back button/select or whatever key it is on the PC to 'spot' enemies and rack up pts for not even doing anything.Once you get your distance down and start getting long range head shots, and netting 180pts per kill, you will level up FAST and find yourself having a heck of a lot more fun.

Being in squad that all talks and works together is a big key. The other piece of the puzzle is to fire in 1-3 shot bursts depending on the weapon. If you aren't doing this, it may seem like you are hitting them but your more likely shooting a circle around them. Do you play on xbox, PS3, or PC?

PS3.Yeah, I do the burst fire....picked that up from this thread. And it was fun with that squad when we worked together and talked so maybe that is my big problem, just need to find a group to play with.

I tried Recon, not fun for me since I prefer to move more than snipe. I have been playing a medic and like to throw the medpaks around...and the defib is pretty fun.I do know one thing for sure....I absolutely SUCK at flying and will not even get in a coptor unless I can be a gunner. I have actually stood and waited a minute or so for one of my team to jump in first.

This is the biggest thing with any online game, be it Gears, COD, Battlefield, having good people to play with is a must.Which is why you should go out and buy a 360 and the game so you can play with us.

I have actually considered it.....but I have a probable wedding (I haven't asked yet and she hasn't said yes...but we have already made some plans :lmao: ) coming up before too long so don't want to spend too much on my gaming habit.

From my understanding that will become your best friend after you get married, so maybe it would be a good investment. ;)

You play on PC or Xbox?
PS3
I think I joined you yesterday briefly yesterday (PSNID: mrcreamjeans), but my kids were fighting and I was playing really bad. (Usually, I am just bad). We got crushed. last night I was in games where I got whooped 6:24 K/D and other games where I did the whooping 17:3. I wish I could figure this out better.

Yeah, I saw that we were on a squad together briefly. That was my last game before dinner or I would have flipped on my mic. There were 2 or 3 enemy players who kept working their way into the back of our spawn, which is really irritating.

This seems to be the new 'go to' tactic if playing Conquest on Atacama Desert. Insanely annoying to have a squad (or two) camped at your spawn and having your teammates do nothing while they steal your Heli & Tanks + spawn camp.

yeah, i wish they put a "no fly zone" around the main base camps at Atacama. I think vehicle stealing is a legitimate tactic. But on that map, with how easy it is to access the bases, one or 2 stolen vehicles (especially the chopper) basically means the game is over.

1. for the love of god....please jihad yourself and dont let the enemy get your tank.

2. if we are losing bad....we dont need no stinking Recons

3. throw out ammos if you are equipping Assault - see Medic

 Once you climb into a tank (driver, not necessarily the gunner), you don't leave the tank until you die. I can't believe how many people bail out.
The ONLY exception to this is sometimes you will see your tank health go to zero and are actually able to bail before it explodes. It it has even 001 you stay in that damn tank and take it in the johnnies.

i dont get out of a tank until i'm 100% sure its toast (example: i'm down to 10 health and have absolutely no idea where that last rocket that got me there just came from). But if i know its dead, i'll bail a little early. I just stick near the tank until i'm sure its dead.

if you let the enemy steal your tank and repair it, you're a moron.

Ahmen to all of that.

Very true on making sure your tank is dead, but if your any good you can usually jump out as the last RPG/tank shell is flying in and then hide in the rubble with a RPG ready for the enemy tank.

You should run with me and my brother inlaw one night (bglaros is his PSN). Look out for an invite if your on tonight. On Port Valdez we run as engineers most of the time and dominate with tanks. But he is also a very good Medic. I run normally as either an Engineer or Recon but am also getting very good at Assault. Medic is my achilles heal but I will soon ramp that up. Anyway we communicate all the time and normaly talk about our plans and have specific points we target or defend.

Man, that M-416 is sweet. Ran a couple of rounds on TLEF's team and was like 10-2 each time. Accuracy and damage seem way the heck up from the Aug. :) Now I have to decide if I want to run with the Aug for a few more rounds and get a gold star, or just screw it and do the M-416.

Saw an interesting hack last night, guy was spawning in our spawn and could obviously detect people through walls. Not sure if he was using an aimbot as well, but I'm guessing he was - he went something like 42/2 and 46/2 before he was finally kicked by an admin. So I did a little looking around, seems that PB is starting to crack down on the hackers hard - 400+ in the last few days. The #2 and #3 guys on the leaderboards got banned for it as well. One guy even got banned twice in 24 hours (repurchased the game, got caught again.)

Any good way to make sure the server we join is a PB enabled server? I suck enough as it is without going up against hackers/cheats. I don't know if the checkbox works correctly yet, but I think I may do my best to find PB enabled servers from here on out, since the hacks are now out in the wild in full force.

Take a look at guy #1 on the PC leaderboards. There is no damn way he is not a cheater. 180:1 K/D? GTFO man.

In the server browser, check Punkbuster on the bottom of the filter options and it'll only show servers that have Punkbuster enabled.

I'll take an invite some time too. This game is definitely a different experience when you're playing with people you iknow and can actually work together.

KT and I ran into a sabatuer last night. We were defending on Valdez, and one guy from our team kept loading the crates with tank mines and C4. Sometimes he would plant explosives on the crate itself, but if the building it was housed in was destructible, he'd plant them to take down the building instead. At first we thought he was just a moron -- planting C4 on a crate when you're on offense and using it to blow up people who go to disarm is fun -- but then we switched to offense on Arica Harbor and the same guy hopped in a tank and started blowing up all of our own team's vehicles. WTF.

Shoot me your PSN ID and I will friend request you today.

Ajax35. I think you're already on my friends list, but I could be wrong.Edit: I tend to play in the early evenings (aroudn 6-8 CT) on weekdays. On weekends, I generally hop on for a couple of hours at a time at random times throughout the day.

Ahaaa thats you....I could not figure out who that was...and deleted....will send the request again.During the week..I usually play (when I play) between 8-9 EST...so around the same time. Look forward to it and I do use a headset.

LOVE Assault on Rush BTW... sad that I kinda just started playing that mode last night. Got up to the M416 but have been using the XM8, that gun just rules. 3 gold stars last night alone with it.

I've been running into a few guys who have been using the last Assault unlock with 4x + Mag rounds and 'sniping' with it. One guy last night had 9 gold stars with his M16(I think that's what it is). Not a bad idea, I suppose - but 9 gold stars with that is nuts.

Yeah the M416 is crazy good. Was playing Conquest on White Pass, we had B and C. Got into their A in the woods and with RDS was sniping snipers off the roof and on the heavy machine gun placement with magnum. Might try 4X some time soon. The nice thing about the M416 is that the spray and pray works better on that gun than any other that I have seen so far. Had my best round ever with K/D with it just now at 21:3. I am winning the one on ones now. :pirate:

I am noticing too many Recons in many matches. I have been running Assault and Engineer a lot more now so we can try to win.

No doubt this game is amazing when you have a squad of guys you know and all are on headsets....night and day.

When I am going at it alone I find myself struggling because most squad members are just soloing too much and have no communication...I mean last night I was standing right by a Medic and I took some hits....drop me a med pack...puleeze! Or Assault guys never dropping ammo...I don't get it. And too many rambos taking armor (tanks) and just going full tilt and getting taken out fast, they don't wait for suppot inside or behind the tank..they just take it alone and go......#### like that is pretty frustrating. Too many people worried about K/D ratios.....I regulary give myself up in Rush mode so others can get in either set the timer or defuse it.

But I still can not get enough of this awesome game.

I usually can't get on until after 8 central as the young uns go to bed around 730. Hopefully I can catch up with you guys on the weekend. I just got the last unlock on Medic and will try to beef up my Engineer now.
