I am noticing too many Recons in many matches. I have been running Assault and Engineer a lot more now so we can try to win.

No doubt this game is amazing when you have a squad of guys you know and all are on headsets....night and day.

When I am going at it alone I find myself struggling because most squad members are just soloing too much and have no communication...I mean last night I was standing right by a Medic and I took some hits....drop me a med pack...puleeze! Or Assault guys never dropping ammo...I don't get it. And too many rambos taking armor (tanks) and just going full tilt and getting taken out fast, they don't wait for suppot inside or behind the tank..they just take it alone and go......#### like that is pretty frustrating. Too many people worried about K/D ratios.....I regulary give myself up in Rush mode so others can get in either set the timer or defuse it.

But I still can not get enough of this awesome game.
This is a friggin epidemic in this game. I drop ammo *every time* I can around a teammate, just in case. It's a free 10-20 points potentially and takes a split second! If in rush and I come across a squad defending an area, I'll drop ammo in the middle of them and easily hit up 100 points or so. I'll never understand why so many Assault guys totally forget about it.

I drop ammo all the flipping time. What drives me crazy is the medics that do not drop med kits or revive. Seriously man, 80 points per revive. DO IT!

I drop med kits, but not for the points. I want to hear the canned phrase "Let me patch you up there" over and over.

At least in my experience, most medics do a pretty good job of throwing down med kits (there seem to be two or three sitting there around every crate), but I've sometimes run all over the map looking for an ammo box. Usually I play as a medic so I'm walking around with enough ammo to take down small countries all by myself, but when I'm playing as an engineer I tend to run out of ammo really fast, especially if I'm using my rockets, and ammo boxes seem to be really hard to come by.

I am only about 2k to the M16. Should hit that today, but we shall see. That M416 is so money, though, it would be hard to give up.

If I see an engy firing rockets, that is the first person I drop a ammo kit by - every shot = 10-20 points. :goodposting:

Yeah When i am running Engineer.......I go through rockets and mines like water!!!

Man, the M416 has taken my K/D from 0.74 to 0.79 in nothing flat.

Unlocked the M16 but gonna get gold with the M416 first before I switch. Should be 1-2 rounds on that.

Anyone have any experience M416 vs M16? Seems the 416 would be better with up close and personal with more dmg, but the M16 has a fair amount more accuracy and ROF. I wonder what Magnum on the M16 would feel like?

I get so tired of team members that if things go bad switch and you end up with a team of 12-20. #######.

been very frustrated the last few days trying to finish out all my weapon bronze stars. I started taking breaks to play with "good" weapons, but by then, i'm so annoyed that i still suck.

Only a few more to go though. I just need to do like 3 sniper rifles and the M1 (which we cant do right now). After that, i'd just have to get the bronze star with a few gadgets like mines.

and i think i like the M-416 over the M-16. the M-16 uses up ammo quick. If you miss with 2 bursts, its tough to finish someone off without reloading. The 416 is better against groups of enemies and its much better at both short and long range (the 16 can be better at medium range if you're super accurate)

Yea, I unlocked the M16 last night and was a bit underwhelmed... it's awesome with 4x + Mag ammo in Hardcore, but in 'normal' the M416 is king.

Just saw that my new laptop was delivered. :scared:

Can't wait to power it up tonight and load up BFBC2!!!

A little late to the party boys, but I'm here.

Get some!

You see, I am curious about 4X, AR accuracy with the M416 vs the M16, 4X and magnum. Does ROF make the M16 better then? Of course, M416 and magnum is also  most of the time.

What do you have to do to get the bronze/gold stars?
for most of the weapons (all the non-pistols) its 25 kills for a bronze star, 50 for a silver, 100 for a gold and 1000 for platinum (10 gold stars). Thats total kills. They dont have to be in one round. I believe the pistols, knife and the gadgets (mortars, mines, C4, grenades) have lower requirements. Same thing for the vehicles.

Yeah, it seems they are a bit lower for rockets, knives, etc.

I think I have 2 gold stars with my Knife, and last check I had a total of ~140 dog tags...

It won't take you long to level higher than me. I'm not getting a lot of gaming time these days. And now we have to help Slax get his expert L4D2 campaigns!

OK, yeah, the M16 blows. M416 all the way. I have become quite the Pro Piper™ lately and got my 3rd gold star with that bad boy I believe. Just hit 21. Nothing like dropping a 40mm on a group then unloading with the barrel with the 416 and getting 3+ quick kills. :goodposting:

I have found myself playing assault a LOT lately. Just an all around fun class to play, even if the points aren't great. The beauty is you can have a crappy round of 500 pts of assault, then following it by just handing out ### kicking after ### kicking and get 2K of assault points. There is a certain ledge near point A in Winter Pass or whatever that map is. If you have A and the US is spawning trying to take A, you look down from cover and can Pro Pipe™ the living crap out of the other team as they rush you and until they blast the wall, you are safe from small arms fire. I racked up 10 40mm kills in about 60 seconds this way before they finally got me.

:lmao: I still haven't gone through a successful L4D1 expert campaign.

Funny you say that....I have been really loving playing assault as well. I agree...it is a ton of fun and I love the grenade launcher....sometimes when attacking in rush I will use the smoke screen a ton to give cover support....I look forward to the M416 unlock but right now i have become pretty damm good with the I beleive XMB or XM8 semi automatic. Just use controled bursts and your money from a decent distance. Last night i picked up a medic kit and used that M-60......wholly ####.....I need to really start working on my medic class which I have completly negelected. I want that rifle...it is amazing.

I wish BC2 had modes of fire like BF2. For instance, with many assault rifles, they had a semi auto mode, as well as either full auto or 3 round burst.

Of course, :lmao: if it does and I have not found it yet.

Played some single-player to get things started last night. May venture into the online world tonight. Since I'm in a hotel though, I'm not sure how my internet connection will fare. I may try to hop onto someone's open network if I can find something decent.

Man, it is just painful to level Recon for me. I am starting to get it figured out with sniping and getting a few 100-120 pts hits but still, there are craploads of better snipers out there with all the best gear. I am running with the M24 and magnum until I get better stuff. Don't even have mortar yet.

spot, spot, spot, throw your motions sensors (only 1 at a time), mortars do help quite a bit on vehicles too, the M24 (starter rifle) is fine, for leveling I'd go with the spot add-on instead of magnum (I think they share the same slot).

Dude my recon was the first thing that was maxed out.Just find a good spot, and sit and wait.Spot spot spot spot spot. Constantly. Once you get the hang of the bullet drop, you will be popping heads and getting +180s along with the +20s for the spotting.I typically lead my team in points when I snipe.

I've been running recon with the G3 lately. I prefer more up-in-your-face action to sitting around waiting for someone to pop out so I can snipe them. I like it. I feel like an assault with a means to take out heavy vehicles. Of course, since the G3 is an all classes gun, you can do the same with engineer.

C4 is fun too, find an objective on conquest that your team currently "owns", plant your 3 C4 packs in logical spots for people to sit at when they try to steal the objective, run off to another objective, but keep an eye on "B" for example to start blinking, and ignite your C4, always fun seeing multiple kills when you are halfway across the map.

Even though I have mortar, I usually start with C4 to blow wholes in walls in my favorite sniping attics, then after my first death I will switch to mortar.

I am about 10k from the G3 at this point, but do have the M14 0 Mod. Guess I could try that or maybe a shottie to get the better recon guns?

My contract was reinstated with the web design firm I was working for, so my late nights are probably curtailed quite a bit now. I'll still try to get a round or 3 in when I can. And still won't be on at all at night through the weekends generally.

For recon, during the early rounds I was using the M1A1 machine gun, but it lacked power compared to other machine guns, so I was losing a lot of head to head battles with it pretty quickly. Still, if you like the up/close fighting and don't have the G3, it's an option if you have it.

Haven't found a shotty I really like, although that probably means I need to use them more to get better at aiming period. The rifles I like are the M24, GOL and M95. I thought I'd like the VSS (silenced automatic sniper rifle) but it requires too many shots to kill unless you get a headshot. The other semi-automatic sniper rifle isn't bad though, especially at medium range - if only it had cross-hairs instead of a triangle scope.

I have my recon unlocks, working on the other classes right now.

For unlocks, I am all the way done with Assault and Medic, about 2/3 done with engineer, and still need mortar as recon. :moneybag: So a loooooong way to go.

OK did two rounds of a rush and got mortar, racked up maybe 2000 recon points. I tried mortar out but got nothing. Any tips on using it?

Mine assist spots seem to really help as well. Gonna have to keep near an assault guy to keep throwing those bad boys out.

I am starting to get the hang of recon, but still not finding it as fun as assault, but gotta chase the carrot and unlock the classes. :goodposting:

Mortar can be difficult to use, particularly when opponent is a savy tank driver that likes to move around a lot. Ideally you want to wait for them to stop moving, aim and fire. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a cluster of guys on a roof and take them out. You can also hit guys in attics of houses with exposed roofs. It is also useful in just doing general recon since it gives you a much wider field to view and has 12x magnification.

Of course, you can also use mortars to help take out the MCom charges while attacking on Rush.

I have tried using the mortar for "fire for effect" and have yet to get a kill. I have dropped it on an MCOM station right after we armed it and there were 5 guys running in, and I get nuttin'.

I'm completely terrible at this game. Never really enjoyed shooters, so I'm inherrently bad at all of them. Still having quite a bit of fun with this one.

Ivan...sorry about yesterday....had to give my son a bath...then my wife (love her to death) had me on lock down for the night watching her shows (Vampire Diaries, Greys, Private Practice) Thursdays are her night.

I will be on tonight for a looong time...hope my Brother inlaw is too....KT you and i along with my bro will make a sick squad.

BTW Valipraso (or whatever the heck it's called) the island board...tough as nails IMO. Port Valdez is my best map so far.

Anyway hope we can hook up and play a ton tonight. Nice to have good folks to kill with LOL.
