If you were brutal I'm not sure how to describe my performance. That was tough sledding. I need to find a noob server until I get my mojo back.

Slax joined the mumble channel and it is much clearer than the party channel.

Yes. Mumble sounded great. Although on my end, both of you sounded fine on the Battlelog app. I could even hear TLEF bashing something in frustration on Wake Island.

Battlefield Blog on Commander Mode

Well, they've officially announced the first feature I clearly will hate for Bf4.....

In addition to this, you’ll also be able to designate High Value Targets, useful for pointing out especially dangerous enemies on the battlefield. An enemy on a kill streak of six or more will appear on the Commander’s screen as a selectable unit. This player’s location can be relayed to the entire team for a period of time (45 seconds at the moment). The Commander can add this aspect to a game where most players will shift focus for a while and hunt/protect this HVT player, as both teams are alerted about this Commander “promotion” when it happens. The attackers will receive additional bonuses when taking out said target, while the target will receive bonuses when performing kills while being HVT – thus both parties have something to gain from this. GTA’s classic “wanted stars” system is what we used as an inspiration for this, we think the highly skilled players will accept this challenge as the ultimate proof of becoming a lethal threat on the battlefield. As far as personal favorites go, the High Value Target is probably mine for the rush you get when you know that potentially the entire team is after you!

This is just painfully stupid. A) It punishes good players for being good B) its encourages the other players to play hide and go seek with one guy instead of capturing or holding flags.

Are there really not enough other ways to end up on the mini-map?

-manual spotting by the enemy

-firing your weapon (if you're aren't using a silencer)

-the little skull and cross bones over the people you kill

- UAV's

-gadgets that spot people (TUGS, pokeballs, MAV's, ec)

combine that with the kill cam and now this silly HTV feature, and its just getting beyond stupid. Its not like camping is a problem in Battlefield. 90% of camping spots can be flushed out with a well placed grenade. The other 10% are a few non-destructible buildings (there's one on Oman that drives me nuts) and some high roofs,cranes and construction sites that are always just occupied by scrubs who can't hit anything anyway. This just seems totally unnecessary to me. First of all, 6 kills is way too few for something like this to be activated. If anything, the commander should be able to spot the general area the player is in, not put them on the mini-map for every player for 45 freaking seconds.

On the plus side, the rest of commander mode looks pretty awesome. I think I'm going to get an IPAD just so i can play it on the go.

Had a pretty funny moment this morning. I was playing sniper on Kharg Island and spawned at D (the construction site). I start running towards B and I see a scope glint. So I duck behind the little dunes behind the construction site and look up to the mountains. Sure enough, there's a prone sniper laying up there with his head exposed. However, one of my teammates (also a sniper) is literally standing right on top of him. I'm guessing he was in the process of typing out some sort of taunting message or something. Well, that's not really my problem, so I drop the hammer and headshot the sniper. Just as the bullet hits, I can see my teammate swing his knife. Then another enemy runs up behind and calmly knifes my teammate. I just about lost it.

Nothing worse than when you get killed only to see the guy get knifed in the kill cam (usually meaning your teammate could have saved you but preferred to try and "embarrass" the guy by knifing him), so any time I can steal a kill from a knifer, I just have to do it.

What's funny is that I usually do better on that server than I do the easier servers. Maybe it's because I've learned what works against certain players and where those players tend to be on certain maps.

This happens in all shooters. I can't speak for PC games but in all the Gears of War games and BBC2 I would have trouble with the best of the best players or the ones that were great shooter players new to the game. If a person was "good" I would have much less of an issue. This is because good players knew strategies and solid locational position that could be expected by me. New people are random and have no clue and this leads to much more of an element of surprise.

Scout Chopper Bf4 game play

A) The game looks absolutely gorgeous. Definitely an upgrade from Bf3

B) Flying the scout chopper looks super fun

C) That map looks like a blast. Hope they're all that size and just as complex. Death to tunnel maps like Grand Bazaar and Damavand (and of course, Metro)

You know that Metro is coming back in an update, right?

Hopefully this time, they allow for more access routes and possibly a command point at the spot of the comms at the start of Rush and maybe add another above ground on top of the subway system.

Sure. I've basically written off that entire 2nd assault expansion back. It's a joke that they're "re releasing maps that are less than 2 years old.

I'm just hoping that the vanilla maps and other expansion packs are good. The 2 maps they've shown so far look awesome

Surprised Wake wasn't in the list of maps returning. I think that'll be the first time in a non BC Battlefield game. Wait, was there a version of Wake in 2142?

Beta (although lets be honest, its really just a demo) starts October 1st if you're a Bf3 premium member, have pre-ordered Bf4 digital deluxe or have a registered copy of medal of honor. Otherwise, you need to wait until the 4th.

Finally decided to pre-order. I was hoping they would eventually offer another incentive, but I doesn't look like that's gonna happen. Didn't go with the digital deluxe version. It was basically $10 for some gold battle packs (which come with random unlocks that I'm pretty sure you can earn in game anyway) and the vehicle unlock short cuts (which I think is lame).

Might play a little bit later either tonight or tomorrow. I've come to the realization that I'm not gonna hit level 100 or the 2-1 KDR, so its all about fun at this point.

Also, looking at video cards, seems like the AMD 7870 is at a pretty decent value/$/performance spot right now, about $160 after rebate. Is there a different card I should be looking at? Didn't see any news about new video cards being released until 4th quarter, so doubting we see much of a price drop before the end of the year, that seem right? (MadCow any thoughts?)

Not sure. I think we all got Karkand on the same day. However, I don't think Bf3 premium had been announced when Karkand came out. Not sure if it will be different this time around. I sure hope not. Definitely wouldn't be fair.

Looking to upgrade my card as well. I'll probably just wait until like the 2nd week of October. Then I'll check the October Toms Hardware chart and start looking for deals.

Also thinking about picking up a tablet so I can play commander from my couch.
