I'm still having freezes when trying to join Quick Matches (since all the server browser listings are EMPTY SERVERS) and getting freezes every now and then during rounds. I've only tried to join a friend's game once, and it said something about Commander mode not being active and wouldn't let me join. Not sure about other 360 owners but IMO this game is a joke. Can't join games with friends/party, I constantly lose boosts that I have gained through battlepacks, constant game freezes, and the inability to work on loadouts in the in game menus is a joke. I want to love this game, however its pretty brutal on the 360.
I haven't had a significant problem with freezes. My PS3 has locked up a couple of times, but nothing out of the ordinary for MP games so far. I've also only had one or two server crashes. I know people all over the internet are complaining about game stability, but this game has run pretty well for me so far.Not sure about other 360 owners but IMO this game is a joke. Don't forget the regression in gameplay quality compared to past Battelfields. Also how do they make the graphics worse than the game that came out two years ago?!Not sure about other 360 owners but IMO this game is a joke. There were certain things that were great about Bf2. The map design was mostly pretty good. There was a lot of teamwork. It did a lot of stuff that hadn't been done before. As for ranking them of the ones I have played, I would go something like this:
BF2 > BF:BC2 > BF3 = BF4 > BF1943 > BF2143
BF2 and BFBC2 both brought something entirely new to the table. BF4 has great potential to rise in the ranks.
I'm trading it in soon. I have made it through maybe 40% of my games without it freezing and also had my limited stats be corrupted from the freeze. This also happened to two other friends in the past day that were well past me so it is quite annoying. My guess is they will try and fix the issues with the China Rising DLC. I always wonder why game companies are so secretive about issues and don't have a dialog with the community maybe through twitter or a respected member of gaming journalism. All what people want know is that they acknowledge and care about making things better with a ETA or description saying the things they need to look into if they can't have a firm ETA. This would solve so many complaints like how Rockstar handled the stimulus for the Online.Yeah, I'm borderline ready to trade it in for PS3. If they were actually promising fixes for this stuff it would be one thing, but the fact they won't even acknowledge that these things are issues makes me wonder. It took them like 4 or 5 months to get the mics working for PS3 on BF3. No way am I waiting that long.
COD Ghosts has gotten pretty good reviews that make it sound like it has actually moved in some good directions with bigger maps and better hit detection. I may be heading back to COD and saying goodbye to the Battlefield series for good.
Any of my PC BF GB's want a key to Lord of the Rings War in the North gratis? Don't need it from the Humble Bundle. Bought the bundle for my son for Christmas.
I don't necessarily disagree. The style of play and pacing of the games is very different. I was a pretty darn good BF:BC2 player and got slaughtered when I first played Black Ops.I personally don't even view BF and COD as substitutes. I know that's a weird thing to say since they're both first person shooters, but I actually enjoy this franchise and simply cannot get into COD no matter how hard I try. If BF4 was not doing it for me for whatever reason, I'd go to KZ in a heartbeat without even considering COD.
Keep the sound muted is all I can say to this. It annoyed me too.I'm in. Single player campaign. I have some issues with the single player campaign:
1. Why are there F-18s on the deck of the Valkyrie. An Amphibious Assault ####, like the Wasp Class cannot launch and/or recover fixed-wing aircraft.
2. Can they make up their mind who is in charge of Tombstone. Irish is a SSGT (e-6), they keep calling Recker "sergeant". If he was a SGT (e-5) he would not be in charge. They call PAC "sergeant" also a few times. Dunn was a SSGT. If Recker was e-8 they would have called him correctly "Staff Sergeant" and undoubtedly had he been higher rank, they would have called him "Gunny" (e-7) or higher.
3. When Recker wakes up in the bunk there's a sailor in work blue jumpsuit on the rack across from him and the subtitles indicate a Marine is speaking. Even worse, they say "marine." You either understand the dual mistaks there or you don't (I don't blame anyone for finding this petty, but it's something I always notice)
4. The most senior officer in the entire Pac fleet is a Captain?
5. I better not hear a "hoooahh" from someone.
I agree with most of this except that the PKM was still OP even after it was nerfed. It seemed like the only thing enemies hated worse than claymores were PKMs. Which brings me to another point. Claymores were everywhere and the kill radius often felt like it was too much. I may be alone there, but I hated claymores even more than dolphin divers and bunny hopping - both of which I never had problems killing. There were certain things that were great about Bf2. The map design was mostly pretty good. There was a lot of teamwork. It did a lot of stuff that hadn't been done before. As for ranking them of the ones I have played, I would go something like this:

BF2 and BFBC2 both brought something entirely new to the table. BF4 has great potential to rise in the ranks.
But it is WAAAAY overrated for lots of reasons.
1) The gun play was super loose (LOTS of random bullet deviation) and lame tactics like bunny hopping and dolphin diving were everywhere
2) Grenade spam. Just brutal
3) Class balance. The anti tank and engy classes both had absolutely useless guns. Support guns were also useless other than that glorious 2 week period when the PKM was the glorious bringer of death.
4) Vehicles were WAY overpowered. It was mostly impossible to take down jets and helicopters. In the first month or 2 after release, Blackhawk gunners routinely ranked up 150 kills with zero deaths. For the entire lifespan of the game, great Jet pilots and chopper gunners did the same. They had no counter. The ability for friendly vehicles with engys driving them to repair each-other without leaving the vehicle was game breaking.
5) The scoring and unlocks systems were pretty awful
I had more fun playing Bf2 than the other games because we spent so much more time playing as a group. But Bf3 and Bc2 (and even 2142) were far superior in terms of design and balance.
This is a good example of why I decided to stay PC for Battlefield 4 instead of paying a little less for a next-gen console for BF4. I personally don't know if I could have ever gotten myself used to using a controller over KB/Mouse. However, I've heard good things about the next-gen version vs the current PS3/360 versions, so I hope that the gameplay suits most of you that aren't enjoying the game right now. It's been on many publications' lists of the top game for the launch of the next generation.SlaX: I agree with you. Just because they are both FPS, doesn't make them the same game. Halo, Call of Duty, Team Fortress 2, Battlefield, Arma III, Unreal Tournament... these are all FPS's that play nothing like the other. Well, Halo feels a lot like UT, but only a little.I personally don't even view BF and COD as substitutes. I know that's a weird thing to say since they're both first person shooters, but I actually enjoy this franchise and simply cannot get into COD no matter how hard I try. I liked CoD for a while, but I got tired of playing the same game every game. It just felt like a glorified map pack, with some minor changes on kill streaks / point streaks. It was a fun game and one that I still like to play on occasion, but I prefer the play style of Battlefield.

I probably wouldn't play COD if it weren't for so many of my friends that play it.
One more BF4 complaint. My guess is it's just a console issue due to the limited buttons, but if I call for more ammo, a pickup or designate a new target instead of marking someone one more time, I'm going to throw my controller through the tv.
I have never, ever been able to use a controller except for Madden, which is why I gave up consoles years ago. The precision you can get with Mouse/KB is unbeatable. This is a good example of why I decided to stay PC for Battlefield 4 instead of paying a little less for a next-gen console for BF4. YES!! This pisses me off to no end. I wish we had the option to toggle off "commands" and just mark people instead. One more BF4 complaint. Or, you know, just make Select the marking button just like on the other BFs on the PS3.YES!! This pisses me off to no end. I think I read from Dice that they were going to implement an option to play it using BF3 settings in a future patch. I don't have a link. It will automatically be running whatever perks you have unlocked on the progress bar. If it's full, all four perks are active. It's similar to the player/squad perks from Battlefield 3. When the entire squad dies, and it says you lost all field upgrades, your bar will reset meaning that no perks are active.Got it some more playing time, and still getting my butt kicked but getting better since unlocking some better weapons and accessories. The vehicle steering system changes took me a few days to get the hang of. Only one freeze yesterday.
And apparently the "No Commander spots open" message you may get when trying to join a friend's game just means that the server is full.
One question about the in-game performance boosts (the little bar that fills up as you do squad-related stuff)... what happens when you fill that up? Does it apply itself automatically or unlock something? Or do you have to DO something to "use" it?

I had a blast last night playing with Slax and Maelstrom. Just about any game is better playing with friends. These types of games amplify that effect moreso that most games.

Finally got my mic working. the late nights (post 11:00 PM ET) are pretty well over for me except maybe some Friday nights.I had a blast last night playing with Slax and Maelstrom. I'll be on (again) tonight. Not that anyone cares![]()
I think the "fix" made things worse. I went nearly a week or so without seeing a server crash. Since the patch: two. I was going several rounds without client crashes. Now: nearly every/every other round. Also went about a week without rubberbanding, but last night we had it happen on a couple of maps, right before a server crash.starting to get unbelievably frustrated with the crashes. As far as I can tell, the patch fixed nothing. If anything, I've seen an increase in the looped sound crashes. 3 already today.
I'm a patient person, but its been 2 and a half weeks now. Time to start fixing stuff.
I was wondering what the heck that was. Saw it a bunch of times last night when nobody was around either.I think the "fix" made things worse. I went nearly a week or so without seeing a server crash. I also really hate the weird suppression blur that the screen does at random times now. I spawned by myself back at the US spawn and it showed me being suppressed with no one even around. I also was getting suppressed last night as a tank driver when my gunner was firing. Suppression sensitivity, as I'll call it, is out of control.
I hope things are good on the PS4 end. I haven't really heard any complaints yet, other than PSN being down. So at least not any BF4 issues. Maybe they can't get onto PSN to find out if it works or not.![]()
This game was basically broken for most of the day on PS4. For some reason we kept getting error messages about corrupted data as soon as we loaded the game, making any gameplay at all impossible. The internet figured out a workaround involving deleting your save data and launching the game while signed out of PSN, but it's a little stupid that we had to resort to stuff like that. In fairness, it was working better later in the day.I hope things are good on the PS4 end. I haven't really heard any complaints yet, other than PSN being down. So at least not any BF4 issues. Hmmmm, my PS3 has frozen on about a quarter of the games I've played. I think my buddy is closer to 40% or so.This game was basically broken for most of the day on PS4. I bought the PS3 version and migrated to PS4, and honestly I've experienced a negligible number of crashes. I think its the PC version that's really broken. The console versions seem to be running comparatively well. (Edit: Aside from the screw-up I just mentioned of course).
Have fun storming the castle kids!I will be on vacation until the 30th starting tomorrow AM, so will not be on unfortunately. Catch you all on the flippity floo.
