***OFFICIAL 'Fear The Walking Dead' Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Is there grass in LA? Is the gas bad yet? Are people doing unrealistic things yet? Any Z's sneaking up on anyone yet?

maybe the better question, what percentage of the general population likes the show........................what percentage of people in these threads likes the show?

I would venture to say those two answers are very, very different, and in a very pathetic way.

I loved that movie BTW! Alicia had a little more meat on her bones in that movie (Geez, I am going to sound like Christo), but she looked very nice.

As far as the show--let me just throw something out about this show and TWD, I like to record them and not watch them live. Even if I delay starting the show for 1/2 an hour--it has drastically improved the watching experience of these series if you can skip thru most of the commercials.

I love zombies--always have dating back to seeing the original Night of the Living Dead on Shock Theater when I was really young. One of the things I love that this series has and so many zombie movies do not, is the slow build and upcoming deterioration of society. Too many of these movies want to get the zombies on the screen NOW and they overlook how this would go down in the real world. I hope they do a good job in this department. The remake of Dawn of the Dead had a great 10-12 minutes there at the beginning that touched on this. World War Z and the scene with Pitt and his kids in the kitchen hearing stuff on the tv and then getting in their car to go to school did it, but it was too brief.

The thing I don't know how they will handle will be the tipping point. Let me give you an example, in Colorado Springs here we have a lot of out of town people moving here (lot of military--lot of people just coming because it is and always has been a great place to live) but they don't get the idea of a snowstorm. When the news announces a storm is coming. you would swear a hurricane is coming. The grocery stores have lines out the door. Last storms, stores ran out of water and we ended up with only 5 inches of snow in that storm.

So in this case, I think once attacks start becoming more obvious, you would image things fall apart real fast. Runs on food, runs on gas and medicine. Unlike TWD where you had a southern sheriff and a lot of guns, these people do not have guns sitting around. So I am very interested to see what goes down.

Small things I don't like and question, the main characters have to be portrayed smarter. There is a reason why the junkie kid goes in that church, but the school teacher guy had no business going there, even if he was wanting to see if the boy's story was correct. The odds on him being robbed, killed are so high--no normal person would do this and there sure would be no reason he would bring his girl friend back there knowing what he knew. In addition., why park your truck so far away from that drug dealer's car at the end? The most logical thing would be to drive around the car and then leave--not park 50 yards away and walk. I mean, the junkie son is saying he shot him, so the last thing I want to walk up on is a wounded drug dealer. I want the ability to drive and go. Small things, but just by the nature of the setting, you can't stay here. You have to get away fast because soon the dead will outnumber the living and you can't have main characters acting like a blonde bimbo in B horror movie.

I have high hopes for this show.

I liked the episode. I liked that the families are separated now. The brother and sister have a good dynamic. I HATE the fact that nobody says what's happening that's just horribly sloppy writing. Reminds me of Lost when nobody asked any questions.

I was a Breaking Bad fan forever and that show could do no wrong, I wonder if there is a FWD fan that can justify this piece of crap as it is.

 
All that and they forgot the food anyway?

That was my big complaint, since we have been talking about continuity and not letting the smaller things go. They have them pushing the cart with the canned goods all thru the school, then he doesn't take it when he gets out of the car? OK, maybe they abandoned it when the clash with the principal hapened, except when they showed the scene around that afterwards, the cart was nowhere to be found.

I think they know some bad #### is going down. The mother is doing some serious praying. Maybe they aren't big talkers when they see some stuff they can't comprehend ... or maybe they've seen riots and violence in their neighborhood before.

The pimply-faced kid was talking plenty about what was going on. Most of the rest of them were in a state of shock and it's not surprising to me that they might be quiet in the face of such trauma. What would the conversation with the daughter look like: "Um honey, mommy just bashed Principal Smith's head in with an extinguisher ... because he was trying to eat a kid at school. Your boyfriend is probably dead and trying to snack on his neighbor right now. How's your brother?"

 
My expectations are tempered already as I fell out of love with TWD so to me I feel similar.

Not blown away but entertained.

No blue balls of the heart waiting to watch it all week.

Yea, it is kinda annoying though that no one talks about wants going on.

My 1st thought we be ZOMG, PEOPLE ARE COMING BACK TO LIFE AND EATING EACH OTHER!!!!!!

 
It's a lot like "Under The Dome" for me..

I WANT to like it.. I REALLY REALLY want to like it and i'm giving it every chance.. I'll keep watching, hoping it gets better..

I just hope I don't have to pull the plug like I did on UTD

I did like the way she had to hit him several times b/c the zombies are "fresh". In the current timeline in TWD, one hit and it would have been all over.

:goodposting: I like how the story is slowly progressing.. Love the :nerd: explaining what is about to happen and how no one YET is taking hims seriously.. Seems how it will be when it happens.

But agree 100% on the part of not explaining what they've seen.. Not to mention after her run in with Cal, still walking up to the Principal saying "we can get you help".. NO YOU CAN'T!! :wall:

No defending the writers on either of those parts. :thumbdown:

 
When Travis was calling his ex, it was weird he didn't mention anything specific. Would have been better if he lost his cell signal.

Then again if my Ex called and said the dead are rising and eating people there is no way I would believe that and would probably lock my doors when she got there. maybe even call the police if she seemed hysterical about it.

overall I like it so far but I'm not one to rip on a TV show all that much. I would just stop watching if I had that big of a problem with it.

I'm enjoying this show so far too. Like TWD itself, it's not especially well-written and isn't going to go down in history as one of the greatest shows of all time, but it's a fun guilty pleasure. Not sure what's wrong with enjoying it on that level.
