When does this stupid show start back up anyway?
Why would it?
Why wouldn't it?
Because it was a boring and disappointing show with almost no interesting characters, Nick being the lone exception.

There were so many things that could have been done better. As you mentioned yourself we have no idea after watching the show how or why society fell. The whole in the military camp interlude was a waste of time in every sense possible. The escape anticlimactic (although I did enjoy Daniel bringing the zombie horde on the hospital) - still it was hardly ground breaking stuff.

As for the season two opportunities: Yay, they have a boat. So the zombies can't get to them, until of course they run out of fuel, water and/or food, at which point they have to reach the shore again. or board another vessel, that has zombies on it. Gasp, will Travis be able to use a gun?

I really don't know why it was renewed.

Ratings and money.

I am a big zombie fan and have been for a long time so I end up watching most anything zombie related (even watched Abe Lincoln vs Zombies, wow), so I will very likely watch this also.

I just binge watched that riveting 7 minutes of the flight-whatever episodes.

I have absolutely no idea who green lit that abomination of an idea. It sucks donkey ### if you watch all 7 minutes straight, why on Earth would any of them have thought a minute here and a minute there would provide any sort of entertainment value to anyone is beyond me.

I read a lot of zombie lit, but even so some stuff is just too poorly plotted or written. This series is one of those.

Pity. It had great promise

Me too. Now we get to wait for the next riveting seven minute segments (released over 8 weeks) where an air marshall is overpowered by a zombie, more zombies are created (but fast, this time) and the plane crashes while the kid inexplicably survives

What HAPPENED? I mean really, this is a show that basically writes itself, and with an enormous crew of producers and writers and whatnot, just, what HAPPENED???

The show was even advertised as being the downfall of society. Well, society fell in like episode 3 or 4, so now what? Now it is just a bad version of TWD. Right now they should be at the point where they were near the end of episode 1 for christ sake, maybe not even that far.

And then the soldiers show up. and they curfew everyone in the community. Then nothing happens. And the soldiers leave. For no reason. This is riveting, must see tv

When the soldiers showed up, the next episode started with dude jogging and it was like 8 days later.

Show about society collapsing, and they skip past the 8 days where society collapses.

I gave this show every opportunity to improve but they totally missed the mark. They were served up a massive audience on a silver platter and delivered a weak product.

Big fan of Cliff Curtis, was hoping he would be a badass from day one.... looks like we'll need to wait to see if that comes to fruition.

Fan of Ruben Blades, and it looks like he'll eventually be badass.

But man, it fell flat. So much more they could have explored, but they wanted to work the "family dynamic" angle more than the "fall of society" angle, which would have been far more interesting and captivating. They could have still worked in how it affected split families, etc.... without having to dive 100% into it.

Will watch S2 but could cut bait if it continues to miss the mark.

Yep, missed big time. I was one of the folks who didn't mind the slowness of thee start, but then they just yada yada'd the parts we (the folks in here complaining) wanted to see, i.e. the fall of society and the outbreak. Even if it was via a couple families view points, it just seemed like the skipped the entire point of the series.

One other element of how this ball was dropped:

When watching it you get the feeling that the writing/acting assumes everyone who is watching the show has seen all of The Walking Dead.

While that is probably true, it still takes away from what it could have been. After all, it's not a sequel.

The show is still "ok" but so very easily could have been 10x better.

all shows have ups and downs....but the difference between these 2 zombie shows is ,fear the walking dead has zero memorable scenes while the walking dead has so many great scenes that stay with you ,even many seasons later

Not just up and downs. Maybe ghost has a point about the writers and actors knowing TWD. Could it have led to the characters being extra dumb about things? Could it also have led to skipping the very thing we wanted to see, how it spread/started?

This show just completely missed the mark. I'll keep watching it, because I like shows like this anyway, but where they are right now in the story could have been season 2 of it. Honestly, the military occupation thing was the wrong way to go. Slow burn/discovery would have been much better. I know some complained about the speed, but that would have been way better. You could have spiced it up with them running into a hospital or that coliseum trying to find shelter or medical help only to have half the people die (could be redshirts just met) and a crazy way out.

I don't think they are all the way to when Rick has woken up yet, but they aren't far. The webisodes for TWD established how Rick survived being in a coma for a long time after the outbreak. Was something like a month before he woke up.

But yes, totally missed opportunity with this show. Posted months ago similar comments that I hated they jumped so far ahead like that.

I will absolutely DVR this and keep watching, even though season 1 mostly blew.  At this point, it's the best zombie show on television, so why not?

WTF would they stop?  There's way too many people on that boat.  They should be kissing that millionaire's ### right now that they're in as good shape as they are with the yacht and all.
