Official Fred Jackson - Moving Forward (1 Viewer)

Browns HC Mike Pettine was the DC in Bufallo before becoming the Browns head coach and before that he was the DC in the AFCE with the Jets so he knows about Fred Jackson.

#Bills have reportedly released RB Fred Jackson, could be an option for #Browns.
Rumors were flying about Ray Rice but now I would think Jackson is the more attractive signing.
Nathan Zegura, the host of Browns Daily radio show.

I personally don't think @Browns need another back but if they went the veteran route, I'd be for FJAX. pett knows him from Buff too

Co-sign - would take him over Ray Rice in a heartbeat; would be good mentor for the young guys

Seriously - you've played your entire career in Buffalo, most years losing early and often. Why would you then turn around and spend your last 2 years playing for Cleveland?

He's going to a contender... which one is a fair question, but I'd be floored if he went to Cleveland.

If I were Dallas I would be getting Jackson in ASAP.

A proven NFL back with that line? Oh my. He would have a career year in Dallas and they need a real proven RB. No question.
This is my thinking, gotta be better than the backs they have now.

Fred just busted a 41 yard TD the other night, against starters no less, right? I didn't see the play but I had to laugh when I saw the line. They can't kill the guy so they just cut him. Oakland should consider him too. There isn't a team that couldn't use him unless they are absolutely locked up at all 3 RB spots.

Is he 34 years old? If so, that dims his FF prospects even if he benefits a real NFL team.
Not for this year. He's looked pretty good recently so there is reason to think he could be pretty good for this year, even if it is ONLY for one year.

He had a 41-yard run then a 1-yard TD but, yeah, he looked pretty good. They tried to frame it like they were doing him a favor by releasing him now:

"That was part of the decision," Whaley said. "To give him the respect to be able to shop his wares to other teams and be able to get in before that final cut, and maybe assimilate to what they want him to do and ask him to do."

He'd be a good fit in Baltimore and a great compliment to Forsett, especially since he can catch the ball well. Forsett owners would cry themselves to sleep, since it could take away some of his catches, but I could see it.

Ugg,,,,that just kills me. Two years of holding Turbin and Michael, and suddenly both lose all handcuff value. You just know Lynch will get hurt now too.

I'm sure Turbin and Michael are a bit miffed but Lynch apparently wants it. - Overall good move by the Hawks, Jackson is a great vet finally joining a winner.

I don't think that Fred Jackson is nothing but a year or two away from retirement, but getting him behind Lynch tells something about C.michael and Turbin.

Man, what a good move by Seattle and I can't believe we (us around here) didn't connect the dots. They were such a good pairing in Buffalo.

Maybe this means Turbin or Michael gets traded. Funny enough, I fired up my copy of Madden 16 yesterday for the first time and saw that Turbin and Michael were both on the Seattle trade block in Franchise mode. Disclaimer: The Colts also waived Phillip Dorsett in franchise mode so...coincidence??

Well I've got Lynch and Michael on my dynasty team....hoping to get Jackson on waivers tomorrow since the guy who had him cut him immediately after Buffalo did :D

Maybe..Maybe not. Seattle is clearly in the window and every team owes due diligence when players become available and FJAX is a class act and you know what you get. Makes sense to Seattle. What this tells ME is that teams like the COwboys (sadly) are still woefully behind in making shrewd moves. They should have snatched FJAX up immediately.

UNLESS, of course, the shark move is Jerry Jones KNOWING the Seahawks are bringing in FJAX and he is waiting for Michael to become available. :) It is a domino-effect type league.

Marshawn Lynch calls Fred Jackson his big brother. Safe to say @MoneyLynch will welcome this impending #Seahawks signing.

Did anyone know whether they had a good relationship? Better than an average RB duo I mean. I had no idea. It makes sense for Fred, assuming he doesn't want the chance to start (barring injury).

It will take Michael 2-3 years to learn another team's playbook. Dumb as a post.

THat's good. Maybe he needs to be down in Atlanta then where some old coaches could at least speak his terminology from Seattle and translate.

I think Fred wants a Super Bowl.

Perhaps, but it shows me he doesn't care to be on the field much.

that's the thing IMO. If he went to Dallas he could do both. Seattle might be a better chance to win a ring but that's the trade off here. I don't think anyone would recommend he play for the Titans even if he were virtually guaranteed to start.

FWIW local radio is hinting at Turbin not being healthy.

Its the first I have heard of that. Turbin and F-Jax would fill a similar role so maybe its true. The first thought I had is they are going to ship C-Mike off somewhere. My own thought was maybe ATL or maybe Oakland.

I think it would be a great signing by Seattle. Jackson still has something left in the tank. Not enough to carry a team, but he would be a good addition to help spell Lynch and keep him healthy. If Turbin is indeed nicked up, then this move makes perfect sense. And then we can finally put an end to the Christine Michael is going to take Lynch's job annual saga.

By the way, Jackson had a 1 yard TD run in last week's preseason game against the Steelers -- he can score from that distance. Just saying.

Even with a HAS, that's not going to land Turbin on IR... unless it's going to require surgery or something, which doesn't sound like a HAS to me.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/09/01/pete-carroll-we-havent-made-decision-on-fred-jackson-yet/

Coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday that running back Robert Turbin has a high ankle sprain that will keep him off the field for a while and led to the Seahawks reaching out to Jackson, although Carroll said they may have been interested anyway. As of now, though, it’s just a visit and not a signing.“We have not made that decision at all at this point,” Carroll said, via Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.com.

The interest in Jackson as a potential fill-in for Turbin is easy to understand given Jackson’s long record of both NFL success and sharing backfields with other backs, including a spell with Marshawn Lynch in Buffalo. It doesn’t say much for Christine Michael’s chances of getting a long look in the backfield this season, although his number could still come up if things don’t work out with Jackson.

Little more context from ESPN: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/13557583/fred-jackson-visiting-seattle-seahawks-take-physical

"This is a visit for us. This isn't a signing," Carroll said. "This is a visit for us with Fred. We have tremendous respect for this player. He's got obviously a wealth of background. He's tough, he's smart, he's sharp."So we need to see where he is right now at 34 years old and see what he looks like. He's got a big physical coming up today, and we'll talk to him later. For those of you that have already made the decision on what's going on, we have not made that decision at all at this point. But we love that he's here, and we're trying to just get our ducks in a row for what may be necessary later on."
Sounds like if Jackson checks out physically, this could still happen.

wonder how much jackson will shop himself around or if this is all contingent on the seahawks doctors... this is probably his last chance to pick a contender and/or get paid.

I'm seriously debating picking up this guy, he is on the wire in one of my big leagues.

I get the feeling he could be picked up within the next 24 - 48 hours and be someone to hold.

Not that it matters, but in said league my RBs are Jeremy Hill, Gio Bernard, Latavius Murray, Roy Helu, Rashad Jennings, Shane Vereen and Ronnie Hillman.

(I can drop Helu and won't have an issue with anyone picking him up I'm fairly certain)

I would think if he was going to get signed with the Seahawks, it would have happened by now.

Its not so much of a strategy question, but I just don't see how this guy doesn't get signed somewhere, and if Dallas is actually "sniffing around" then he could be a MONSTER play there if he gets signed.

I figure he won't get all the touches, but Randle looks to be fading a bit, and we all know the story on Darren McFadden.

He could be thrust into a great scenario, due to the ineptness of the ones in front of him.

I have a sneaky suspicion we are going to hear something on F JAX today, being picked up somewhere.

I was actually surprised he went undrafted in my league last night. Im starting to consider the same thing. If he gets picked up by a team like DAL, he's going to go for a decent amount of FAAB budget where as now as a FA I could pick him up for nothing.

My RBs are pretty strong - Charles, Gore, Lat Murray, Foster, Sproles. FWIW Helu was drafted in the 13th round in my league (non-PPR). As soon as I took Sproles I was pretty much thinking why didnt I pick a RB with more upside at that point considering the guys on my roster ahead of him. Sproles is either my first or 2nd drop of the year though, and when the WW is hot the first few weeks, he's - or FJax if I picked him up now - are likely gone anyway.

Jackson would need (Less now) multiple other players to be injured to be fantasy relevant again and even then he would be a risky start.
