So why are we assuming that Claire's adoptive father is part of the government. It seems there would be plenty of pharmacutical companies that would kill to know how to make people regenerate, fly, etc.

I found this picture on another message board. Interesting.
Love the show. Let me in on the secret of the symbol on what appears to be Hiro's sword. Not into Japanese hiro-glyphics. (pun intended)

We don't really know what the symbol means. So far it has appeared on the following:* mysterious black dudes necklace

* Niki's shoulder, as a tatoo (although it might only show up when she is her alter-ego)

* Hiro's sword from the future

I am probably missing a few other instances.

doesnt the symbol also appear on the hiroshima memorial that hiro visits in the online comic on nbc.com?

just thinking outloud here

peter/nathans father = suicide

micahs father = missing

mohinders father = dead

claire's father - real father missing (adopted)

any other ties to fathers?

Lindeman had dealings with the Fly-boys father before his suicide. Most likely the Fly-boys father had some kind of powers. Lindeman knows about these powers and is offering to help the Fly-boy running for Congress most likely in exchange for political favors. We have not seen Lindeman yet but he is linked to three people (Fly-boy, Fly-boy's father, Ali Larter)I am making a bold prediction that the Congress Fly-boy is Sylar. He is powerful, knows more than others, did not want anything to do with Mohinder but knew who he was, imo. There is some resemblance there.Claire = Little Miss Miracle Grow = :lmao: Niki seems to change when her son is threatened. Her alter ego mentioned "if you threaten her son again..." She did not use "I" but instead used "you" in reference to Niki. There is either a complete separation between the two or they are both becoming stronger and joining. Niki earlier in episode 4 stated she was having bad dreams... thus making the conclusion that they are joining and becoming one instead of maintaining a boundary.
2 things.I watched again last night, and she said "OUR son".And, I doubt that either congress wannabee or his brother are Sylar. Reason being is that on Sylar's map was a pin and a newsclipping of the congress wannabe. Why would he track himself? Or, if it was his bro, why would he need a reminder of his own brother? I'm of the opinion that Sylar is someone we haven't really been introduced to.

Okay, thanks to the wonders of Tivo, I am able to confirm that Nikki did not have the tatoo on her back in Episode 1 that she had in Episode 4.

So, either its new bodyart, or it only shows up when she's Evil Nikki.

Furthermore, in the artists apartment, there is a painting of her with the symbol on her back.

 I agree, but we can't be 100% certain until we see her without it again.

They all have the same father and different mothers - Twins reference #2, I rule.

Pretty obvious that Micah's father is not peter, nathan or claire's father.

Not to say it isn't possible, but if you get a chance, rewatch the Matt interrogation. I already deleted it, but I thought the sequence was that Matt asked him if he was CIA or some type of government and Claire's dad's reply of not working for one of the departments with abbreviations. It is just my opinion, but it made me think that he was implying that he was in a black ops type of group.

What hotel chain was the congressman staying at? I go to Vegas quite a bit, and if I'm getting busy with Ali Larter I don't want it to end up filmed and on the internet.

It's been discussed in this thread. Unless you are a character on the NBC show "Las Vegas" - you have nothing to worry about.

I'm fairly certain this was confirmed in the interview (link) someone posted earlier...Found it, actually (HULK) posted the link from the E-woman with the cameo...

1. Niki has a tattoo. When Niki went bad (and bedded the Senator--meow! How hot was that scene?), we saw a squirrelly looking symbol tattooed on her shoulder. That is the sign of Bad Niki. I'm told Good Niki doesn’t have it.

I don't think he said department.
OK, my bad, but like I said, feel free to watch that scene again as I think Claire's dad kind of admitted through his answer that he was in a secret part of the government, not part of the CIA/FBI, which is what I think Matt asked him. Claire's dad knew his memory would be erased by the other guy, so I think his answer might have been more honest. I could have completely jumped the gun, but that is what I thought while I watched it. I am in the camp that believes that Claire's dad and the black guy know what is going on and who everyone is, but isn't trying to kill them. I don't know his true motive and if he was somehow responsible for their condition, but I don't think they are aligned in any way with Sylar, who is the true villain so far.

Right. But that source isn't always accurate.

I think he said, "My employer doesn't have initials" or something similar. At first I thought he was Sylar.I definitely don't think that now, although he may be connected to him somehow.I think he's in some shadowgovernment type job for sure though. Sylar might be weaponX or something like that.

So we've also established that Evil Niki only appears when she is in physical danger, right? And the evil version maintains control until she loses consiousness and wakes up as regular Niki.

That seems to be the case.Right now it seems like a defense mechanism, or brought on by intense feelings, or something along those lines.I wonder if down the road the split personalities will merge?Or if Good Nikki will have the same powers as Bad Nikki? I think there is a lot of potential with this line. Right now she can't use her powers conciously, so she has developed a secondary personality that can use them. With practice/experience, she might be able to use her powers while remaining herself. However, it will be a personal struggle to keep Bad Nikki from coming out. Maybe she battles herself for control? Lots of potential for a great storyline with this character.

Like Phoenix? Man, the X-Men parallels are really getting out of hand.

 When she was sitting in the car watching (mostly listening) to what happened in the garage, she changed. The next thing she knew, she was somewhere else, four hours later.

Listening to someone die could very well bring on intense feelings.

I missed that part, good point. I was pointing out that the switch does not occur only when physical danger is present. Intense feelings I could completely agree with. As I recall, she didn't switch in the elevator until the man threatened Michah.

Right now, I see her as half Phoenix and half me.Don't make the stripper angry. You won't like the stripper when she's angry.

So here's what I was thinking today:Sylar seems to have the power to absorb others' powers. He also seems tormented at what he's doing ("Forgive me" scrawled on the walls).Peter can absorb others' powers. He has already been pushed away by his brother and virtually tossed aside by his love. Could Peter be Sylar?
theres been tons of talk on various sites about how Sylar is really future Peter. Dont really understand that tho.
I'm really liking this thread. Can we NOT turn it into another LOST style thread? Pretty please?

She's like Ben Stiller's Mr. Furious from Mystery Men. His superpower is that he gets really, really angry. I also liked the Invisible Boy, who could only turn invisible when no one was looking at him.

Kristin @ E!

Some spoilerish comments from Kristen, who was an extra this week.

Some of you will recognize her from her LOST musings.
Which scene was she an extra in.
So Hiro can also selectively stop wut he wants....he can keep one person moving in regular time and stop everything else if he chooses. cooles character on the show.
Well he can't right now, I'm sure that is something he will develop in the future. But yeah, future Hiro is awesome.
I just assumed that was part of Peters powers. He was able to be in time warp with Hito because he was near him. Future Hito would have already known Peters powers from his future dealings with him.
I still think it's Hiro's power that stopped time and he choose to let Peter see him. Hiro wasn't anywhere near him whem the train stopped. Hiro's powers now will be more developed in the future, like all superhero's. I also think that Peter absorbing powers will be much like Rougue, where he has to touch the person. He touched Issac while saving his life and his brother while his brother was being rescued.
Why do you limit Peter's potential to grow his powers but not Hiro's? Under you logic Peter could develop his powers in a manner that would allow him to use Hiro's power without touching him just as easily as Hiro develops his, in your theory.
I'm not. I'm doubting his ability to do it so quickly. He can barely figure out what his power is, much less how to manipulate other peoples powers he may absorb.
Peter has yet to figure out how to control his ability. On the roof with his brother he had no idea he was walking on air. When he drew the picture he had no idea what he was drawing. I still think that it is part of his ability that allowed him to be in stop time with future Hito. The space/time continuum is a funny thing, maybe future Peter coming in contact with future Hito gave Peter that ability and gave it to him retroactive to when his ability started to appear. Maybe I just watched too many Star Trek episodes.I do not think that future Peter is Sylar. He's too good of a person it seems.
You are really making me dizzy. Isn't it just a little more simple to say Hiro did it then warping the space-time continuim? If that were the case, then he would have a lot more powers. BTW I love Star Trek, but you may wanna back away from the remote.

I don't think Sylar is peter from the future. He left the voicemessage for the Dr. The Dr is already dead, so he probably has already meet the Dr. Peter has not.

I said this in "The Nine" thread: I think TV critics missed the boat this season - and underrated "Heroes" and overrated The Nine.
Heh, it must be Timothy Daly. In 2000, CBS pushed his new show "The Fugitive" and ran a promo for it just about every commercial break while the other new show that started the same week didn't seem to get as much of a push - that show was CSI. The Fugitive lasted one season. Now, Daly tries again with The Nine, which seems equally hyped, but it is doing terrible in the ratings.

I really like the show and this thread is chock full of good stuff, but I think you need to not worry about it. It already is a Lost style thread. Take a look at every other TV show in this forum and tell me if there is any other with spoilers listed throughout and discussions about what will happen and this much character discussion. This show is the closest thing to Lost that there is on TV now.You just need to not worry about some of the posts that will show up and then 5 pages later, show up again. As long as BGP doesn't show up and Dr. Van Nostrand doesn't take everything personally, this thread should be fine. ;)

I know. The thread has 10 pages and the show has had 3 episodes. At least I can try to keep up with this one.

I thought Flying Dude flinched a bit when Sylar was mentioned, like he had heard that name before. I thought there might be a sinister connection there, but then he went to his brother and told his brother to pursue it so I don't think so.

According to the picture posted in this thread future Hiro is sporting the same symbol on his sword that is on the black guy's necklace, which implies that glasses dude and his organization might be studying/training the heroes not trying to hurt them. Maybe they are the ones who trained Hiro.

They might also know that the cheerleader is special, which is why they kept her close.

For those of you wondering the song they played more of on Monday is by a band called Rogue Wave and the song is Eyes. I have not been able to find it for download  though as they are in indie group.

A couple thoughts on Issac.

1) Did he paint the comic book while high? Maybe he did, but it didn't seem like it. If not, that demonstrates he can see the future without shooting up first

2) He told Simone that he sketched the pic of her & Peter under the umbella weeks ago, but if I recall, he started sketching it after she broke up with him
