***Official*** Heroes Thread (2 Viewers)

Anyone else notice the karaoke guys in Yao Ming jerseys singing the Backstreet Boys in the background of the Japan bar scene? Pretty sure its the same guys from the hilarious lip sync video that's on-line.

What exactly is Ali Larter's power?Scowling at herself in a mirror?Blacking out and killing people?Any ideas?
The image in the mirror was bloody when she "awoke", where as she wasn't. Possibility of a two dimension type story line? She is there and the other her from another diminision is able to take over??
I think her power might be the ability to summon a kung-fu fighting, ###-kickin double of herself. Like the shadow jutsu from Naruto. :bag: Her son kinda kills a bit of her hotness though. :(

I'm guessing Ali Larter's a TK (Telekenetic). I think I remember one quick scene they showed in the inital previews for the series where she looks at the fish tank in the School and it explodes.

Hopefully they manage the split personality thing OK though. It's an easy hook for drama, but also an easy trap into really annoying angst. We'll see, but, like I said, I'm enjoying the ride so far.

I thought it was pretty weak and contrived with some really corny dialogue and no real characterization. The girl doesn't want anyone to know she has this power yet she climbs to the top of a crane to jump off? C'MON!! And her father happens to be the "mysterious future protagonist"? Weak...... I thought the Japanese fellow was the only real redemning character, the Ali Larter character mildly interesting and all the rest annoying. Instead of creating something unique, it seems they are going for a "Lost with but Superheroes" thing. I'll follow it for another couple of weeks to see if it gets better.....
The father is really her foster/adopted father. Right before he came home she told her mother she thought it was time that she knew who her real parents were. So maybe the foster/adopted father got rid of her real parents or stole her because she had super powers.

I'm sure that is where the storyline is headed.

Well, here's some good news.

'Heroes' Makes Heroic Debut To Help Rescue NBC NBC, hoping to make a comeback after its disastrous season last year, got some good news Monday as its new series Heroes got off to a solid start, posting a 9.9 rating and a 14 share in the 9:00 hour and averaging a first place in the hour. (It was beaten in the first half hour by CBS's Two and a Half Men, which nabbed a 10.2/15 but rose well above The New Adventures of Old Christine, which drew a decent 8.4/12 in the second half hour.) More importantly, Heroes improved on the numbers of its lead-in, Deal or No Deal, at 8:00, which drew an 8.3/13, which also place first. At 10:00, however, NBC's highly touted Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip saw its audience slip from last week as it scored an 8.8/14 versus the previous 10.3/16. It remained in second place, however, behind CBS's CSI Miami, which drew the biggest audience of the night with a 12.6/20.
If it can keep up some decent ratings for a few weeks, the chance of it being cancelled quickly sinks like a rock

Missed it last night but caught it tonight. I liked it and will try and catch the next few episodes to see where it goes.

I'm befuddled as to what it might be.I also want to see her naked.
Also liked the show. As to Ali Larter's powers, (HULK), I would refer to your avatar, minus the green of course. That's my guess. The mob enforcer slapped her, it looked like she was going to get mad, then she blacked out. :brucebanner:

I saw it last night. I'm mildly intrigued. Someone told me it's written by the same folks who write Lost. If this turns into a Lost-fest.... I'm out.

Anyone think its possible that the artist guy is the one drawing the comic books they showed in the preview of next week? Since it seems like he can see the future that would explain a lot.

I would say yes, except that he ended that first episode on death's bed. Based on previews I've seen, there are more 'heroes' yet to be introduced. I'm guessing one of the new ones will be the comic book author.

Just caught the premiere episode.

So far, so good. This is one of only two new shows that I am going to check out this year, the other being The Nine.

I saw the commercial for it, but I don't know if I'll get a chance to check it out tonight. Can you guys give spoilers in white lettering so whoever wants to read it can?
you can watch the whole episode on NBC website.

Well she is adopted so I assume the dad knows that she is "special". Esp since he already knows about the cab driver and father.Damn it I am slow.

I got hooked on 4400 last season. I don't kknow about the plot/character development yet, but te Heroes powers are much cooler.

A lot of people are comparing this series to the 4400. I think the X-Men is a better comparison. On average, the acting isn't much better than the 4400 (but it is better than Jericho, and not having Peter Coyote is always a plus), but my main concern is how they plan on balancing so many principal characters without their interactions feeling forced.

Have not read the thread yet but a huge black dot on this one. Finally caught the show via NBC's video link which sucks btw and I am in for the long haul on this one.

I kept thinking this was a real life X-Men which in its own right would be cool to view as this show has depicted so far. Then the Japanese guy brings up X-Men #143 and such and that was a cool bit of humor. Of the characters they brought in there is not one that does not intrigue me. I think Ali Larter's "ability" is one that has me a little stumped right now. I pay extra attention whenever the Indian guy is on though. He knows things that are going to come out slowly as the show goes on.

My first reaction was of a kind of hatred when I saw the father of the girl who does not get injured walk in and we discover he is the suspected killer of the Indian guys father. That guy is dirty and plays a role that could be compared to Cancer Man so far. Plus, they alluded to that girl being adopted too.

YouTube is a great place and the first episode is on there but NBC gets some of them deleted. I believe there will be people to upload them though being a little discrete about it. Probably a better place to catch up on an episode there. I thought NBC would have full episodes on their site but they have yet to put up The Office at all which sucks cause I missed both of them.

Edit - I am also looking it up but the guy who thought or maybe he can fly acts a lot like Anthony Edwards (Nerds, ER) and am thinking they are related... thats what I am looking up.

Edit 2 - Read the thread and the whole Ali Larter = The Hulk seems very plausible but the blood on the mirror image and none on her make it kind of impossible in my opinion. If not for the mirror image, unless it is an halucination, but the Hulk did not have that... did he? Her kid was the little brainiac on "My Wife and Kids" and in his own right is a brilliant kid in real life. The "Titans" girl/cheerleader has grown up nicely.

Can someone explain how all of these characters are discovering their abilities at the same time, which just so happens to coincide with a solar eclipse, yet their abilities are somehow genetic in nature? Seems like a major plot hole to me.

I think you answered your own question. And, I would be willing to bet there are plenty more but per the show they are only spotlighting the ones we have met and running with their lives.

Yeah, I think that's pretty much the plot in a nutshell right now.

I think as for the brothers. I think nathan the older brother will fly but Pete will have something else he can do. I would think maybe some kind of ESP by the way he has all these visions.
I bet they are like the wonder-twins, they can only fly together - not that there is anything wrong with that.
It's just a hunch but I think Pete's going to die. Nathan caught him at first but he slips out of Nathan's grip and you just catch a glimpse of him falling free before they cut to another scene.

I was thinking the same thing...she has some kind of Phoenix alter ego with some lethal telekenetic abilities if provoked.

How did I answer my own question? If their powers were genetic in nature, then why should they all discover their powers at the same time?

It seemed like the wonder twins to me too, or maybe Ace & Gary. But the artist clearly painted the younger brother as the one flying in the painting.

He'll discover his power of flight on the way down. They're not going to waste that much facetime on a guy that dies in teh second episode.

Scenes from next week showed the brothers talking so he does not die.

I suspect the younger brother will think he has no powers, only to find out at some crucial point in the plot that he does.

I think the hot chick has a "badass hot chick" alternate universe thing happening.

as you suggested perhaps something to do with the solar eclipse...

Bump... Monday night is the second part of the pilot.

Watched the bittorrent again and a couple things I watched for have me second guessing some things.

We know or at least think Claire is adopted. When she mentions about her day that she walked through fire and did not get a scratch her brother thought it was absurd but her mother seemed taken aback by it. Like it did not surprise her to know this happened and gave the reaction similar to "finally it happened" or possibly "it worked."

I am not sure if the Indian guys father was killed or not. We never saw a body nor was there a funeral. I know there might have not been a funeral in "traditional" terms but still no body. Claire's father had "bad" written all over him but he is working for somebody... who he is working for though? Did he simply capture the Indian father or recruit him for something?

Does the father layed up in bed have anything to do with the story or he is there to help explain background only? Does his daughter have any ability whatsoever that goes beyond normal human capabilities?

In the Ep. 2 preview, we see the guy with the glasses say something like, "we want to know more about you" to the mind-reader cop who was laying on a table, and behind the glasses guy was a black guy. So there's difinitely a group or organization that's informed about what's going with all these individuals. Maybe there was a government experiment (ala Weapon X) that gave these people their powers, and not genetics. :tinfoilhat:

Wow, this show is just going to be awesome. The writing is just so good. They really know how to catch you off guard and hit you with some big news. The second episode is every bit as good as the first.

Damn this show was good tonight.

Hiro can time travel... that was a nice twist at the end of the show. I dont want the artist to die... wtf? We were inadvertantly introduced to an evil guy... Sylar. He can freeze people, and takes brains for some reason. I am also hating the cheerleaders father. He stole the tape but how did he get it? I think he has a power... dont think he is Sylar though.
The thread title should be changed to reflect "official" with the understanding we are talking about the show.Patiently waiting for the bittorrent now.

Love this show!

I think Claire's father could end up being a good guy. I think we're being misled into thinking he's evil. Great show.

Download the torrents of ep1 and ep2 and watch them again. This was really the second part of the pilot though as the first, what, 10 minutes were almost recap from last week.

I watched both. They were very good.It has been a while since I have looked forward to a show like I am looking forward to this one.

The commercials every 7 or 8 minutes could stop and I really wouldn't mind.

Seems like it's going to be a good one though.
