I think that Nikki was the one that killed her husband's "boys."

I think that the wannabe politician is actually a bad guy. I'm not sure that the timeline fits, but he may even be Sylar. I think that it's possible that Peter doesn't even have any powers and that his brother has the ability to make him float. If he can force people to do things against their will, it would also explain why Peter is saying that he really wasn't trying to commit suicide.

I'm definitely enjoying the show so far though.
That is a pretty damn good theory - would explain why Sylar can fly.
If he is Sylar, why would he put a picture of himself on his map?

Nikki did kill that crew, as a matter of fact, I believe she killed her husband and that's whose ring she found. The brothers are like the Crimson twins. Their powers only work when they are together. They both have power but they need to be together. I like that the politician is a bad guy...a good theory. It will pull the brothers in seperate directions.Sylar is a white guy with a scruffy beard, at least that's what it seemed like to me after watching it again last night.

Does anyone remember:

1. Does the election happen before the nuke?

2. Does the brother win?

I think Hiro sees a paper saying he won the election in episode 2. Wondering how this fits in with the brother/villain theory if at all.

I believe there will be two layers of villians. CIA types who are grayish good/bad. Super powered villians/nuke detonators. Remember Claire's dad had the chance to kill the professor's son in the cab but didn't. Has he done anything "evil" yet or is it just overplayed characterization that makes us think he has?

The lab scene next week should make this more clear. The black chick, the black dude, the mystery bonfire girl and and neighbour all fall into the same category.

Maybe the professor is a shapeshifter? Keeping tabs on everyone. He could even be the neighbour, talking to his own son. It makes sense the prof had powers. He studied to find how he got them and to find others like him.

I missed some of the episode, is it on another station later this week?

I dont think the nurse guy has any powers at all. We have not seen his picture up on any map like his brothers. I think the only brother who has powers is the guy running for office and maybe that is why their dad had depression... he did not have powers while others around him did... the nurse guy is a Squib (Harry Potter reference).
He did a good job walking on air in Ep2
As well as drawing that that would happen with stick figures.Did anyone else get the feeling that the artist realized he could still draw the future without the drugs? Just on a smaller scale (the notebook rather than canvas)?
Great point. He did this right after interacting with the druggie/artist, right? That would seem to be a very strong indicator that he absorbs the power of others.

Yes and yes. At least according to the newspaper you're remembering.

I am thoroughly convinced that the older brother is not evil, and definitely not Sylar. The overall arc of the show is that these are ordinary people with ordinary problems. His particular issue is self-centeredness and his desire to be successful. As his character grows, he will look past all that as he begins to embrace his role as a hero.

I think they will bring one of the characters down the road to becoming a villan.

You can read Hiro's blog Here

Funny stuff, no spoilers. His references to Final Fantasy and Star Wars are pretty funny.

I've become Chrono in Chrono Trigger or Trunks in Dragon Ball. I've become the hero in my own RPG. Except that this isn't a game. This is real. There is no saved game or cheat codes. I get no Phoenix Downs. There is no game over. There can't be.

Agree with you on the two layers of villians. I made the same point, that we all assume Claire's dad is evil, yet he and his guy in the apartment never even attempted to kill Mohinder, in fact they easily could have killed or kidnapped him. Also, not to spoil anything but I will put in white anyway since I can't remember if this is all from the preview or some from a blurb on next week's episode.

I thought from the previews it seemed apparent that Matt was OK, i.e. they didn't go Sylar on him even though we know Claire's dad and the black guy in the bar had him in a lab.
Sylar seems to be the only evil person so far as we have seen him kill many people.

If they are going to stay true to the comic book roots, they will have some characters that will always skate the line of good and evil. Some people will have to be completely good or bad, but there has to be a few that will go into the gray area.

just an observation on some assumptions that are being made here. some are concluding that the guy that was after the little girl is sylar, therefore sylar must be white with a scruffy beard. how do we even know that it's even him? because the fugly fbi agent said so? could be another misdirection.

Because the dead cop on the wall followed Sylar's MO.

I'm in the "steal the brains, steal the powers" camp. Sylar has healing powers similar to Claire, can fly like the Wonder Twins, probably has telekinetic powers and probably has mind-control powers. He's one bad mofo.

I'm still not so sure the black guy in the bar is a bad guy....

I haven't watched last night's ep yet, so I'm trying to stay out of the thread, but I wanted to throw out the possibility that Sylar is a doppleganger, so he very well likely could be a character (or characters) we've already met. I'm guessing he could be either or both of the girl in Mohinder's dads apt building or the FBI chick where Matt found the little girl.
I watched ep 3 and also rewatched ep 2. I'm more convinced than ever that FBI chick is Sylar, who is a shapeshifter. Whn Matt finds the little girl he hears her think "he hurt my parents" while looking at FBI chick who is looking over Matt's shoulder. Just before they find the girl, cop girl tells FBI chick she thinks this fits Sylar's MO. FBI chick denies that Sylar even exists saying it was just the last words of a dying man (so maybe the dying man also recognized her as Sylar). Then in ep3 when shadowy trechcoat guy was kidnapping the little girl, he must have gotten into the police facility undetected, which he could do if he was in FBI chick mode.

I think that is a little extreme. I think the FBI chick will be back though.

You want more proof? All women are evil. :D

True. But we have all different levels of evil. Most of us have the nagging power but not the shape shifting kind.

Last night during Earl or the Office they showed a trailer. In it, the Claire's Dad is shown with the black guy from the bar. They are talking to the flying politician.

I'm guessing that the politician, being power hungry, is easily swayed by Claire's father, who will probably be revealed as having tie ins to the government (legitimate or not).

My thought on all this is that the black guy in the bar is also D.L., who is also Sylar. Not sure if that'd been mentioned, but that's what I'm guessing.

In a promo during SNF, Claire's dad and the bald black guy were outside looking upward toward a shirtless person that was levitating.

just watched the last 2 episodes this weekend and am really enjoying it

some of the theories/ideas brought up in this thread made me even more excited to watch

may have to watch tonight instead of waiting for scifi's replay friday

Future Hiro....thats awesome to know thats what he will become. Also Ali Larters tatoo seems to be the same shape as that other dudes chain further proving that he is indeed DL, Micahs father.

No, that symbol is everywhere and in no way can you make a link between her and the black guy as husband and wife because of it.

So Hiro can also selectively stop wut he wants....he can keep one person moving in regular time and stop everything else if he chooses. cooles character on the show.

Or maybe Peter Petrenelli is just absorbing some of Hiro's abilities so the timestop didn't effect him either.

thats probably it...i also wonder when he gets this mysterious scar?

So the black guy from the bar can erase peoples powers? Cool.
Do you think he's erasing their powers or just erasing their memory?
If the black guy is the clear supervillain, and with Peter clearly the main hero, I find it interesting that they may appear to have similar powers. The black guy apparently can shut down or steal the powers of others, while Peter simply appears to be borrowing those powers.i'd imagine in some future episode we will see some sort of super team of heroes and Peter will use everyone's powers at once in some great battle to save everyone...Just an edumcated guess from a life long comic nerd... :D

If only to set up the point where they get to redeem themselves? Hmm...

By the way, I loved the Rain Man sequence with Hiro and his buddy coming down the escalator in the new suits. Seriously, this show is just great. In addition to being suspenseful, creepy and gory, it's also funny.

I guess Hiro has all the time in the world to learn English...

Niki whooping that dude's ### in the elevator was sweet.

I guess Claire's gonna be the focal point of the series. "Save the cheerleader... Save the world."

I thought it was funny that they got thrown out of the Montecito, the casino from NBC's "Las Vegas." No other reference to it than a small sign on the back door, so it didn't come off as a cheesy cross-show promotion. Just a little nod to people that watch a lot of TV.

Caught it too, but it was a little too corporate cross-promotion for me that NBC is starting to irritate me with. (Considering the shameless Trivection ad on the other NBC show I watched this week.) Don't be surprised if the Friday Night Lights High school is mentioned in Claire's section, while someone's watching one of the Sunset Strip/Tina Fey's show on a GE TV.As for the meat of the show:Hiro: The definite star so far. The Las Vegas section was great, but I'll be a dissenter in not liking the appearance of Future Hiro. There better be some pretty big boundaries on his Time-Hopping, or he is WAY too powerful, and way too easy a cop-out for the writers to be lazy. Future Hiro was VERY cool, I will say though.Niki: Confirmation of split personality. Looks like a generic Hulk type brick for her other personality though. The tattoo was very curious.Claire: Wasn't a big fan of the re-editing of the cliff hanger from last week, but the effect still worked. So far still rings the most real. Father or the black guy (Niki's hubby?) chasing her in Isaac's vision? The steps were very obviously thrown in that final scene with Claire to connect to his vision.Mohinder: Still don't trust the neighbor. A little too abrupt personality change as he was giving up. A non-entity in this ep., IMO.Peter: Still annoying, confirmed the Rogue connection mentioning his future vision thanx to Isaac. How soon will he be injured to get the scar?Congressman: Still don't remember his name, but liking him less and less. But it looks like he gets some more interesting screen time next week. A little too contrived getting him to Vegas, but it was another link to the Rich Guy he was looking for financing from (the same guy who loaned Niki the money) I have a feeling he will be more prominent (Maybe Claire's father???)Isaac: Tortured Artist take 4. The only note of interest is his desire to turn hero.Cop: Non entity this week. I would bet on memories only being erased by the 'evil' black guy. And weird black guy note, he was kissing the symbol almost like a cross. Very curious.A note of dislike of NBC, noticed them pushing Heroes by emphasizing the cliffhangers. It's a valid hook that has had a big comeback on TV (Lost, 24, Alias, etc.), but them pushing it might make the writers have to sacrifice quality to shove in the cliffhangers. Oh well, that is the general sacrifice in watching network TV. Dealing with crap like that.

 Nice work.

Just a couple things to add

* I knew the escalator scene looked familiar but I couldn't place it, I thought twins at first (devito/scharzenegger)

* The tattoo on Nikki's back could be like how Lana (smallville) gets the tattoo on her back, it is there and she doesn't even know it, like it appeared, wouldn't be surprised if all heroes have this tattoo and possibly do not know it

* Looks like Peter does get everyone's abilities, there is a short clip in future episodes where his eyes turn grey just like the artists.

* Should be interesting to see what happens to cheerleader from carwreck, it looks like an accident like that will require the jaws of life to get her out, even if she does manage to fully heal - so she may get caught in a pickle trying to explain how she survived unscathed and why she was driving it into a wall.

* It only makes sense that whenever the heroes use their powers for evil they get some sort of karmic payback, maybe Hiro and his buddy got theirs with the ### whooping they receive. Hiro should be knocked out from that punch so it will be interesting what the writers do to save them, maybe Nikki makes an appearance somehow(?)

Very good ep - looking forward to next week.
