Thanks for being the political equivalent of an analyst/therapist to the Republicans in these threads.Don't step on the Arrested Development joke, hermano
All of his statements could be classified as subjective and ambiguous. His first statement was a laundry list of ways Hillary broke the law tempered by his perceived lack of intent. Unfortunately for Comey, intent is not an applicable defense to those laws. It was railed as subjective and ambiguous by pundits from both sides. You keep using the word "confusing", but tim said "subjective and ambiguous", which is entirely different (and true). The point is it that Comey had to know it would open the door for wild speculation. You're hung up on what the letter specifically said, but rather the point is what the letter didn't say.
I don't recall using the word confusing. I wrote that it was ambiguous and subjective, which I think it was.To the letter from a couple days ago...it was NOT confusing. It states emails have been found and need to be investigated to see if they were pertinent or not. It isn't complicated to understand. Read it FULL DISCLOSURE: I didn't read the article it's referenced in so I have no idea what it says, nor do I care....the letter was my focus.
On July 5, he did the best he could not to throw Hillary under the bus to the point that he accepted ignorance as a defense. Hillary supporters should be elated by his performance in July. It was the best you could have asked for.
It's pretty awful. I haven't watched it in over 5 years. When my mom passed almost three years ago, I stopped watching tv news. She had it on for a few hours daily. I haven't watched ten minutes live since. Some recommended Youtube links and whatnot but no... I ain't putting myself through it... done, for good. I will not watch any coverage. There's six NBA games on the slate Tuesday night.
We didn't subscribe to cable for the first six months after to moving to Portland and it was fantastic. We recently got it for NFL, Walking Dead and other stuff. I've only popped into a few shows and channels, but CNN kills me every time I try to watch. When my mom passed almost three years ago, I stopped watching tv news. She had it on for a few hours daily. Tim your position on this has been extremist the whole time. You've argued against public record laws here.I don't recall using the word confusing. I wrote that it was ambiguous and subjective, which I think it was.
Also on July 5 he should not have spoken at all IMO. Just release a statement that says no charges. No explanation was necessary.
I enjoy how the people who hammer Fox then list known-lefties as their favorites...and yes, this absolutely goes both ways...
Here is another unacceptable piece of journalism...

Adding on:As much as a President Trump scares me a bit, I can't vote for the a racist candidate in Hillary Clinton
A candidate who stayed a member of an all white country club for decades, makes racist jokes in public speeches (Ghandi worked at a gas station?) her. Super predators comment (if she says stiff like this proudly in public, one can only imagine what she says in private), calling a campaign manager (who was one eighth Jewish btw) a "####### Jew *******"....a candidate who opposed gay marriage
The record on race is pretty poor

You can except items like Fed meetings, skyscraper toppling terrorist attacks, and seceding countries, to name a few.Tell that the UK.
If Trump wins the Wednesday news coverage will be an interesting split between "Trump Wins Presidency" and "Historic Market Collapse"Dow +275. Probably just noise.
Yeah, I think more than anything the wikileaks have exposed irresponsible and unacceptable journalism practices. That's on the journalists, and many of them should be on the unemployment line after this election. Probably won't be, but they should be.I enjoy how the people who hammer Fox then list known-lefties as their favorites...and yes, this absolutely goes both ways...

Actually I have seen some Fox folks acting more like journalists and less like an arm of the GOP lately. Chris Wallace and Megyn Kelley seem to be leading that charge. It's obvious Fox is trying to re-position themselves. I think we may see this trend continue post Roger Ailes.About half of the stuff on Fox is good for hate watch/comedy. I'm pretty liberal in my news but even I can't take Lawrence O'Donnell.
Really makes you wonder why the KKK's official newspaper endorsed the other guy.Adding on:
participating the tacky CP time joke with DiBlasio. - horrible
the pandering impersonation of James Cleveland ("no ways tired") - ridiculous
Blind Liberals - just suckers for the lefty media machine.Dow +275. Probably just noise.
I have a theory that if TrumpTV starts up, Fox is actually going to become a truly fair and balanced news organization.Actually I have seen some Fox folks acting more like journalists and less like an arm of the GOP lately. Oh, good call. These should be merged into a superthread for the actual election. Is there going to be an election "gameday" thread or are we going to have to pick which of these to follow tomorrow?
In all honesty it is getting to a point where journalists should have to list their voting record or political slants so we know where they are coming from...like stats for an athlete...some people pokes fun at the Hannitys and Maddows but the thing with them is you know exactly where they are coming from...there is no hidden agenda...So Blitzer, Harwood and Milbank should be fired. Like today.
"Build a wall" was just a metaphor for "ruin the economy, then no one will want to move here".If Trump wins the Wednesday news coverage will be an interesting split between "Trump Wins Presidency" and "Historic Market Collapse"
I think you're rightI have a theory that if TrumpTV starts up, Fox is actually going to become a truly fair and balanced news organization.
If you're gonna make an allegation like this- and also hedge it with "essentially"- it seems like you should at least provide a link to support it. For example I have a VERY difficult time seeing Wall Street picking an anti-fossil fuel, climate change-focused physicist for Secretary of Energy. So thanks to Wikileaks we now know that the head of Citigroup essentially picked Obama's cabinet and Chief of Staff in a letter the sent to Podesta a month before the 2008 election. Hillary has been in Citi's pocket for years so I guess they'll get to pick her as well.
Never forget who is really running this country and will be until we get money out of politics.
I could handle it if Fox were a true equivalent of MSNBC... you know they have a bias and certain perspective, but it's not an active political agenda around which the entire model is built.Actually I have seen some Fox folks acting more like journalists and less like an arm of the GOP lately. Chris Wallace and Megyn Kelley seem to be leading that charge. It's obvious Fox is trying to re-position themselves. I think we may see this trend continue post Roger Ailes.
Read my qualification a few posts later. And yes, an explanation was absolutely necessary. I can't imagine how bunched up those panties of yours would be had he just come out and said no charges. You think this latest event was a ####storm? It would have been a light drizzle compared to the hurricane created by that approach.I don't recall using the word confusing. I wrote that it was ambiguous and subjective, which I think it was.
Also on July 5 he should not have spoken at all IMO. Just release a statement that says no charges. No explanation was necessary.
My wife says I'm always right. And not sarcastically. So you have that going for you. You're the first person to agree with me.
There's always hope. Megan Kelly is probabaly bailing. The Shep Smith guy and The Five or whatever is also watchable IMO.Actually I have seen some Fox folks acting more like journalists and less like an arm of the GOP lately. There is one prognosticator whom I feel I can always rely on, that has been remarkably consistent, and I have been breathlessly waiting for his call:

Shep has definitely led the charge. I've been kind of impressed with him. There's always hope. Megan Kelly is probabaly bailing. The Shep Smith guy and The Five or whatever is also watchable IMO.
The morning idiots, Sean Hannity, and randoms with the "conservative" side in the debate style shoes they have on when I flick through there are some of the worst stuff on TV.
I can't speak for others but you're wrong about me.Read my qualification a few posts later. And yes, an explanation was absolutely necessary. I can't imagine how bunched up those panties of yours would be had he just come out and said no charges. You think this latest event was a ####storm? It would have been a light drizzle compared to the hurricane created by that approach.
Not true....I postulated once Trump was the nom that if it didn't go well, he'd have some sort of "news" channel himself. That belief was solidified when Breitbart got involved. I too am in this boat. You're the first person to agree with me.I think you're right
This is a very serious issue...if journalists (be it liberal or conservative) are practicing biased journalism (without saying they are biased) we are traveling a very dangerous path...we do not need our media becoming like Pravda...one thing that scares me is many people only care when the slant hurts "their team"...Yeah, I think more than anything the wikileaks have exposed irresponsible and unacceptable journalism practices. That's on the journalists, and many of them should be on the unemployment line after this election. Probably won't be, but they should be.
Are you actually suggesting that you'd be cool as a cucumber with the field day shenanigans of the GOP had Comey not explained himself in July? I get that we'll never know, but there is not a shred of evidence in your history here that would suggest this. It all points to the opposite.I can't speak for others but you're wrong about me.Read my qualification a few posts later. And yes, an explanation was absolutely necessary. I can't imagine how bunched up those panties of yours would be had he just come out and said no charges. You think this latest event was a ####storm? Well here you go:If you're gonna make an allegation like this- and also hedge it with "essentially"- it seems like you should at least provide a link to support it. For example I have a VERY difficult time seeing Wall Street picking an anti-fossil fuel, climate change-focused physicist for Secretary of Energy.
ArticleFroman’s list proved remarkably prescient. As it proposed, Robert Gates, a Bush holdover, became secretary of Defense; Eric Holder became attorney general; Janet Napolitano, secretary of Homeland Security; Rahm Emanuel, White House chief of staff; Susan Rice, United Nations ambassador; Arne Duncan, secretary of Education; Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of Health and Human Services; Peter Orszag, head of the Office of Management and Budget; Eric Shinseki, secretary of Veterans Affairs; and Melody Barnes, chief of the Domestic Policy Council.
For the highly sensitive position of secretary of the Treasury, three possibilities were presented: Robert Rubin and Rubin’s close disciples Lawrence Summers and Timothy Geithner. Obama chose Geithner, then president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Geithner, along with Bush Treasury Secretary (and former Goldman Sachs CEO) Henry Paulson and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, had played the leading role in organizing the Wall Street bailout.
This seems a little one-sided. Trump has certainly engaged in his share of scare tactics- one might say that scaring people is the central theme of his campaign, whether it's fear of illegal immigrants, Muslims, "the inner cities," "globalists," or whatever the scapegoat of the week might be. And Clinton's ads aren't entirely negative- here's her closing statement ad today, no mention of Trump or anything negative.Totally anecdotal observation here. I'll preface it by saying I dislike Hillary more than Trump but can't see myself voting for either.
How scared is Hillary? Trump's ads talk about how bad a job Hillary has done and that she represents the establishment, the old way of doing things. Hillary's ads talk about how Trump is a horrible human being and will start a nuclear war if elected.
So is the scare tactics indicative of fear she might actually lose so they're pulling out all the stops or just SOP for democratic campaign strategy?

I like Shep. I think Hannity is gone sooner rather than later. His Trump love is making him unpopular there if rumors are to be believed. There's always hope. Megan Kelly is probabaly bailing. The Shep Smith guy and The Five or whatever is also watchable IMO.

"Mr Quigg warmly endorsed the Republican candidate’s plan to ban Muslims from the US and to expel 11 million illegal immigrants. Asked why he was not therefore supporting Mr Trump, Mr Quigg replied: 'We don’t like his hair. We think it’s a toupee. He won’t do what he says he will do. He says he’s going to build a 20-foot high fence along with border with Mexico and make them pay. How’s he going to do that?'"The KKK leader in this video has endorsed Clinton
