Made it through the 5 seasons of Veep.  Amazing the parallels.  You take someone devoid of any values, politically talented, ruthless - but largely incompetent and you can almost make them sympathetic as they play the game to serve their egos, personal interests and legacy.  It's interesting how the show began with pure buffoonery but has an edge now as the lead character becomes more exposed as value-less and detached from the People.  

Funny that Hillary is a huge fan and that it's clearly inspired by her.

 
I heard a little bit of Hillary's speech. Unfortunately she's back to yelling. She's been so effective lately keeping her voice quiet and calm, but then she forgets and the yelling happens. Even as a supporter, it's not easy to listen to. 

Obama is such a good speaker. That Dallas chief of police- he's a natural as well. Hillary is not. Trump is an effective off the cuff speaker, but terrible at giving a speech.

I guess it's just a talent you have or you don't. Ranking Presidents as speakers since Nixon from 1-10:

Nixon 6

Ford 5

Carter 6

Reagan 10

George H W Bush 5

Bill Clinton 9

George W. Bush 5

Obama 10

Hillary is a 3 or 4. I'm convinced that she will be the worst speech deliverer in my lifetime. Trump is an 8 off the cuff, and a 4 reading a speech.

Bill, Hillary, Lynch, Comey, White House all cooperated or coordinated very well. There is such a fine line between the two words.

I've asked before in this thread for an accounting of her change in positions and policy disagreements that you or others have had over the years.  Because these blanket statements just sound like regurgitation of Fox talking points.  I mean, she's a politician, but she's hardly worthy of the vitriol based upon her policies and votes.

Has enyone compared a picture of Obama in 008 to today? Now think about how HRC will look in 4 years. We shouldn't vote for her simply to try to save her life.

First indications are that Comey hearing didn't Hillary, but it may be too early to assess if there is long term impact.

I'm sure I support many people and things that Trump has also supported.  I even went out with one of his pageant contestants once :excited:   That doesn't make him or his 2016 campaign for president any less awful.

Don't you remember? We said repeatedly that they don't count until after the nominees for both parties have been chosen, that is when people start taking the general election seriously.

For about 20 years now, Republicans have been trying to peel away the Jewish vote in Florida. Forget about it. Jews are pro-Israel, and most of them vote Democrat. And even more of them will vote for Hillary Clinton than they did for Barack Obama.

This is something I never understood. I think the Democrats would be far more likely to throw Israel to the wolves than the Republicans would.

First off, no.

Second, Jews tend to be more than single issue voters. And they have a history of being liberal because, just as in the case of many other minorities, conservatives did not treat their ancestors very well.

I don't think either side has the political will to say just how horrible a mistake the creation of Israel was.

I edited out Republicans- I meant to write "conservatives". Conservative Democrats were worse than say, progressive Republicans. 

I won't get into the entire history here but things like housing areas where Jews weren't allowed to purchase, country clubs where Jews weren't allowed to belong, etc. Plus Jews were heavily involved in the labor movement and Civil Rights movement. Because Jews have been persecuted for so long they tend to be attracted to liberal causes.

- The policy sounds bad, because if I'm not mistaken using US taxpayer money for influencing foreign elections is illegal, but the destruction of public records relating to it is worse IMO.
