Against the guys who actually sought the nomination? Yes. If, say, Joe Biden had wanted the job? Probably not IMO.

All the old democrats want Hillary because they owe Bill so much.  It is the younger and indeed the future of the party that want candidates like Bernie.

I'd agree that younger voters wanted Bernie. But as far as the party goes, Bernie isn't / wasn't ever really a Democrat; I don't think that they wanted him at all. The edge in endorsements was absolutely overwhelming in Hillary's favor. Hillary lines up much better with the majority of Democrats on policy also. It is us, as voters, will drag them back left out of the center if it's going to happen.

I think Biden would have been the nominee if he decided to run. I think most thought it was Hillary's turn.

I wasn't even thinking of Bernie when I proposed the hypothetical. I was mostly wondering, with her fairly high unfavorable numbers, if the party leaders having the final say would have chosen someone else. Biden is certainly an interesting alternative; how do we think he would have been doing against The Donald about now?

I can't think of a scenario where the establishment didn't prop Hillary up unless a Biden (or someone similar) was part of the equation

I'm not really sure that I'm understanding what you're saying. My question was, had Biden been the choice via a different selection process, how would he be doing right now against Trump?

I should also pose this no-primary hypothetical in the Trump thread re: the GOP.

sorry....thought you were speaking of the primaries.  I think it probably depends on who they selected of the people willing to run.  Biden, by most accounts, wasn't interested.  The answer to your question is probably Hillary being the floor, with someone else not being any worse....remains to be seen if they'd have been better, if that makes any sense.

It's ok to speculate. My question called specifically for speculation since it was only a hypothetical.

In the far off crevices of my brain, I'm ruminating about the major parties eliminating the primary/caucus system.

Actually it appears to be we 'aren't' but you have to listen to it a few times. It was like she wasn't sure whether she should say are or aren't because she forgot who she was talking about.

I don't assume he wasn't interested but rather knew the Party favored Hillary and he didn't stand a chance against her and the DNC.  Think he would have beat Trump as Hillary will but without the drama.

And for the record, Snopes debunked the claim that she said she will raise taxes on the middle class as it may have been an error in the audio, she didn't fully enunciate the ending of "aren't" or she simply misspoke:

Worst case, she simply misspoke and said "are" when she meant "aren't," because she has not announced any changes to her tax platform or said on any other occasion that she plans to raise taxes on the middle class and not the wealthy

Yeah, I didn't know how to say it better.  Had they gone beyond the primaries and he was just appointed, I'm sure it would have been a tougher decision for him.  Still not sure he'd have done it, but if he had, I don't think there's a question he would have destroyed Trump.

I'm not saying that.  You commonly hear about the "Clinton body count" and I don't subscribe. 

It's just odd is all.  DNC is a small organization.  Both Rich and Kaine's aide worked there.  

Ever work on a small office where multiple people die suddenly and at a young age?  It would be extremely notable.  

Other deaths just odd. Guy facing fraud charges set to testify.  Guy who just served the DNC.  It's just odd.

You would expect these kinds of  anomalies to be equally distributed across other political offices, or surrounding other candidates.

They aren't.

Just saw the first Hillary ad in Texas.  It's the "our children are watching ad" and it's pretty good, mostly because trump is so so bad.

It's odd.  You don't see an analogue of 5 people in a month or two connected to Trump fraud or the DNC suddenly dropping dead.  It's just not something you hear.

It's absolutely insane that a Democratic Presidential candidate is spending money to run ads in freaking Texas in early August. Tells you just how confident the campaign is that they are going for the sweep / landslide / mandate win this early in the game. This. Race. Is. Over.
