Continually bringing this up thread after thread and knowingly being wrong and intentionally mischaracterizing is lying.  This is not the first time, probably the fifth thread the little ###-clown has done this.

I wasn't lying about your full throated unequivocal defense of everything George Zimmerman said in the last six months of that thread from the point he went to trial. Zimmerman was like George Washington to you, he could not tell a lie. Meanwhile Trayvon deserved whatever happened to him, you acted like Zimmerman did a public service in shooting him.

So Hillary is a moderate Democrat. I get that she's not liberal enough for you, but she's not a Republican, not really.

Or, put it this way: she might be a Rockefeller Republican (which is a little ironic since she was once, at the time of my avatar, a Goldwater girl) but she is not representative of the modern Republican party from Ronald Reagan on.

Before they went nuts Hillary would have fit right in with the country club Republicans. Third way is all about being one step less conservative than the GOP. The problem with that is the GOP has been heading off a cliff on the right for a while and the third wayers are joyously following along.

Third way was Bill's thing. Hillary was always a little to the left of Bill. 

But its interesting for me to read NC Commish's analysis of Hillary, since I have encountered so many conservatives (including my own FIL) who are convinced that Hillary is a socialist.

Yes Hillary Clinton who supported Barry Goldwater who called for nuking Vietnam and cutting all social programs, just to name a couple real liberal positions, is a real socialist. She is still a Goldwater girl and it shows in her hawkish stance and her years long dedication to making sure social programs get cut. Because of the block grant she and Bill pushed over 20% of the women and children who qualify, and who Hillary claims to champion, can't get the help they need.  Liberal my ###.

 
I'm no fan of NCCommishes misplaced idealism in this election, but he is 100% correct to call Hillary an 80s Republican. She is way right of the Democratic party and Obama isn't too far behind in most of his positions. Nixon was further to the left than her.

And they have no idea what they are talking about. Most people don't.  They hear the Republicans, or what's left of them and Fox news spouting socialist nonsense about anyone in the Democratic party they perceive as a threat. They have no genuine idea what socialism actually is. Bill and Hillary are third wayers, with Obama not far behind.

 
Michelle is a terrific speaker- perhaps as good as anyone. But from what I gather she hates politics. I kind of doubt she would ever run for office but who knows?

First of all that's just a snip, which the speech writer thought would be a straw they could grab. Secondly that reads like a call for self regulation. Thirdly there Hillary is telling them she is the bulwark against 'nationalist, populistic, reaction'.

How much did DB pay Hillary for this flattery and reassurance that she would be their guardian?

Well George P. Bush is 40 now and in the Texas political scene, clearing building a presidential resume.

Chelsea Clinton just had her first son (Aidan in June 2016) so he will be ready to run for president in the 2050s.

I think Hillary is like a lot of people.  She was born and raised in a conservative household.  As she began to see more of the world she started to embrace the liberal idealism.  As she then had to face the realism of making ends meet (in her case indirectly being involved with governing) that idealism is tempered with a great deal of pragmatism.  As she gets older that pragmatism still dominates, but there is some regretful longings for that idealism and missed opportunities.

For Obama I think the only fair criticism is that he should have seized the opportunities of his first year to make larger "course corrections" than he did.  His greatness is ultimately going to be judged on how much of those directional shifts are preserved and extended away from the wrong turns made in the late '70s and then through it all started falling apart in 2005.  

All people of intelligence want these left turns to happen faster and I have plenty of posts where I have expressed my impatience, but even with an endless list of where we as a nation fall short right now I have a hard time thinking of any point in the past half century where this nations was moving in a better direction.  To steal from Obama, we are a more perfect nation than ever before even though nowhere near perfect. 

 
Holy crap, just googled conservative forums and jumped into a few of them.  They all had threads saying how much of a better leader Putin is than Obama.  How horrible Obama has been, and how the "hag" Hillary won't live through even one term because she's sick.

And they seem to think that a liberal court will take away all of our liberties.  

Even when GWB was spiraling us down I really don't recall the hateful rhetoric and overt admiration for an enemy like Putin.  What are we going to do with people who think like this?  I know there will always be some extremist (on both sides) but to have tens of millions of people who despise our president and admire Putin?

No?  You don't remember the extreme left's love for, say, Che Guevara?  Whichever "side" is in power, the most extreme from the other side will villify and ridicule them.  Same as it ever was.

Um, no I don't remember that at all.  And I noted that there were extremist on both sides, it just seems like the right extremist have gotten a few tens of millions of new members.

Really? You don't remember it? Because it was definitely there. I couldn't even turn on a radio without hearing a song by pretty much every major artist talking about how stupid our president was at the time. The far left is just as bad as the far right. The only ones who don't realize that are the ones sitting on one extreme or the other.

Absolutely...it is amazing how people can view the world to jive with their views...libs do it and so don't the far right...watching the Left get all up in arms about Trump's sexual antics after giving Slick Willie a pass is just the height of hypocrisy...claiming Hill gets attacked because she is a women after eviscerating Palin and her family is another good one...on the right there is no shortage of creeps who preach family values than go cheat on their wife or whatever else they do that they say is wrong on the public stage...anyone who thinks "their side" is innocent or less guilty is nothing more than an ideologue...

Did Obama supporters chant for the jailing of his foe?  Did Obama supporters say how this Che Guevara was a stronger leader than GWB?  Again, I'm not saying that there haven't always been extremist on BOTH sides, just that the right extreme side seems to have really grown and captured a huge percentage of our population.  The absolute venom spewed by these people is shocking.

They were talking about war crimes for Bush.

I could be biased because I don't hang with the right extreme but interact with the left extreme on this board.

So you don't remember the left calling for Bush 43 to be prosecuted for war crimes?  You don't remember the death threats at various extreme left rallies?  You don't remember 60's era hippies wearing Che Guevara t-shirts everywhere?  Or Jesse Jackson proclaiming "long live Che"?  Again, bone up on history.

There's no denying that the extreme right is currently off the rails, but it's not much different than the last 40+ years.

 
Everything is hugely amplified now because of social media and the innernets, no doubt -- but the real difference that I see is that the establishment of the Republican Party has been co-opted by the lunatic fringe, and I personally don't think that that has happened on the left. Congressional Republicans have lived in terror of getting primaried by TEA Party loons since they saw what happened to Boehner for daring to compromise with the enemy -- and as a result we see nonsense like the debt ceiling shutdowns, the Benghazi witch hunt, the continual useless votes to repeal the ACA, the refusal to hold hearings on Merrick Garland, etc.

I'd agree.  The Dems haven't been hijacked yet...they are on that path though.  The GOP was hijacked because a group was energized to do so when they were constantly ignored by their politicians.  We saw the small cracks happening beginning back in the days of GWB.  Actual liberals are beginning to make the same sort of noise because they feel they are being ignored.  A strong swing to the left will be demanded at some point if politicians continue to ignore them.  If the dems are paying attention, this is easily avoidable.  Time will tell.
